Tayshan the supervisor is very VERY rude. Horrible customer service and very passive to the customers. Their website had issues and my order was messed up and he did not handle this with grace. Instead he was degrading and overall not nice/understanding as I would expect a supervisor of a store I am giving money to would be. He made backhanded comments at me when I asked about my refund as I do not trust he gave it to me. If I chose to be a customer of this store again I will be making sure to be doing delivery as I do not want to face him again, that's how poor of a person he was to me. I had an extremely disappointing experience at Broadway Spirits. A few days ago! I usually don't bother to write reviews but this one just needed to be done! The woman at the front--who I believe is the owner--was incredibly dismissive and carried a condescending, "I'm better than you" attitude the entire time. Her demeanor was not only unprofessional, but borderline racist, which is especially ironic considering the neighborhood is predominantly made up of minorities. There was no warmth, no customer service, and certainly no sense that my business was valued. I left the store feeling insulted and unwelcome. I will never shop here again--and honestly, neither should you. There are too many other places that will treat you like a human being, not like a low-life. Extremely overpriced liquor store. I highly recommend just ordering liquor for delivery or going to other stores a few blocks over. I had been a loyal customer because of the reward system, but they changed the policy and wouldn't honor the discount cards that I had accumulated. I justified the completely unreasonable prices because I thought I would be able to make up for it somewhat with the discount cards. The two guys who work there could not have been more unpleasant and I honestly think are reason alone for not going to this store. For the best experience, DO NOT order from them directly and definitely DO NOT use their app! I've ordered from them several times via a third-party delivery app with no problems and have actually rated them 5 stars. Today I decided to try their app and order from them directly thinking it may be easier, but it turned out to be an awful experience. 1st, when you order via their app, you don't get any confirmation via text or email that your order was actually placed. You can't even see the status of your order on their app! 2nd, they called me to ask me to verbally authorize a hold on my credit card, which should not be happening in 2023. I inquired about my delivery ETA during this call and was told it would be within the hour window in which I ordered. This call took place 30 minutes after my order was placed and was the only reason I knew the order actually went through. Lastly, I selected 1 hour delivery, it was more like an hour and a half, and they didn't even follow the instructions on the order that they give as an option to gift wrap your item. I understand if they had delayed, but a courtesy call would have been nice. I simply can't believe ordering from them directly was such a nightmare! read more

So this store delivers, and their prices are better than some of the alternatives, but I've had more issues with their delivery (via minibar) than any other store nearby. Specifically: * I'm literally 6 blocks away, and about 25% of the time the order takes upwards of 1.5 hours * They just randomly make substitutions without calling me to confirm. I'm pretty pleased with Broadway Spirits. They offer a vast variety of refrigerated wines and spirits. It's nice to buy cold vodka. They have a nice selection of Goose, Johnnie and Bailey's gift sets. Great for Christmas! Theirs prices are competitive and they gift wrap for free! I went in for Frangellica and Drambouie. Neither of which they had but the girl at the counter said she ordered them and they'd be in on Thursday. I'll surely be back. I've been coming here for a while, moreso since covid, but I think going forward, I'll be shopping elsewhere. The manager/owner was needlessly rude to me twice, and I think I'll go to one of the other shops in the vicinity. I don't want to go into the details, but for some reason their door doesn't close properly and they'll expect you know that and to close it properly. (Hey idea - maybe fix the door instead of grumbling under your breath at customers?) That said, it's a fairly large store, with a decent selection for downtown Manhattan. I don't know that I've ever had to leave a bad review... if I have an issue, I just go straight to the business and usually they are either able to explain the issue or fix the mistake- so I absolutely tried my best to fix the issue before leaving this. I know losing my business won't hurt them at all, but I can at least warn others. Bought a bottle of whiskey for my partner for Christmas, bought 3 small ones in fact so he could try one of each from the brand. Got home and realized the cork inside was too small for the bottle and it had leaked. It still had the plastic wrap on it, so it was very obvious I hadn't opened the bottle. I would never have realized before I left the shop that the cork was slightly too small... neither did the super nice guys behind the counter. Maybe I'm overly cautious but...if whiskey was getting out, air and other things could have gotten in. It was New Years the next day and we live about half an hour away so I chose to wait until the next time I was going to be in Tribeca, roughly 48 hrs later. They refused, saying because I didn't realize their product was faulty before I left, they couldn't accept it. Even though the plastic wrap had clearly not been opened...even they could see the cork was lose. Management just didn't care. I could see if I had walked out and dropped the bottle then demanded a refund-then I would be in the wrong. But this was something they should have been accountable for. I wasn't asking for my money back...I just wanted to exchange the bottle- for the exact same brand/type/price- for a faulty product that they sold. How was I supposed to see a mistake that they didn't even know about? Why don't they care about the quality of product they put out? Not drinking it obviously or returning to the store, and again, not having my business won't hurt them. (Also, their onsite staff are really nice) but beware of management/owners. If you're a wine person, this place is probably more for you. They offer a wide selection of regions and prices. I remember that from before. When I came needing more of the "hard stuff" for an upcoming party, I always thought that this was the place for "rock bottom" prices. Well, I can't say it's much more affordable for liquor than my own neighborhood in Brooklyn and I don't have to schlep bottles on the subway. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the check out people are equally so. If you live in Manhattan, this is the place. Otherwise, not really needed for a special trip. read more

Although this is a nice store and I received decent sales help after dropping over $70 on Christmas Eve the cashier, after accusing my debit card of being defective (which it wasn't, it was their machine which I pointed out) didn't bother to thank me. I think it's a very simple thing to say "thank you" after a transaction and I think employees should be trained to do so. I left with a bad feeling announcing that I would not be back and it so easily could have gone the opposite way. No "have a good day", no "happy holidays" and not so much as a simple "thank you". Best of all, they have a Yelp deal for wine opener if you check in. REAL TIME SIP SIP REVIEW! Placed a MiniBar order of a couple bottles of wine, and two thangs of liquor. The person I spoke with on the phone was nice, immediately knew about the specialty wine I was seeking, and was accommodating in gift wrapping two of those bottles. There was a hiccup with one of the items. But they called to allow me to choose a replacement rather than just putting in another bottle, and the order still arrived within the 1-hour window guarantee. From what I could see of the pricing, some things are huge steals, some standard, and others better bought elsewhere. So, par for the course in terms of liquor stores. She helped me select something with my favorite grape varietal and along with my second next favorite varietal as an added to a great blend, as well as my preferred region and price range. They're usually slow, but today I've been waiting for two and a half hours for my order to arrive. This is unacceptable!

Have been a regular here for nearly 2 years only due to proximity and the large selection, but I will never be going back after the customer service i received in my last visit. We ordered delivery for "1 hour or less" and live a 1 min walk away. After 1.5 hours and a call to the store where they assured us it was on its way, I decide to walk to the store. I explain the situation and am told they're out of one of the 2 bottles I ordered which is why it hasn't been delivered. When I ask why they couldn't have mentioned that when we called 25 mins earlier, the man begins yelling and turns incredibly condescending and disrespectful, and remains that way for the 10 mins i was there getting a refund for my delivery order and subsequently checking out with the new bottles (which they made me do a new order for despite the replacement bottle being $2 more...nice gesture for my inconvenience). There were about 8 other people working / hanging out in there and I was the only customer...I've heard other stories from people in my apartment building claiming they deliberately overcharge so to always demand a receipt - I haven't paid close enough attention to find out if it's true, but it seems others recognize it's a sketchy operation over there with awful customer service. read more

I cannot recommend Broadway Spirits for a first time customer wanting to have same day delivery. Good luck with that! They have a really inconvenient policy for first time customers and do not indicate this policy on their order form or even in their confirmation email. I placed an order purchasing a bottle of champagne as a gift to someone to be delivered that same day to a doorman building apartment very close to their store. It states clearly on their website that "Same Day Delivery is available for orders over $30, excluding tax and tip." When I placed the order I received a confirmation email from Broadway Spirits which would obviously mean the order had been accepted and is being processed. But apparently that's not the case at Broadway Spirits for first time customers. If you are a first time customer they need to CALL you to get permission to verify your credit card which is so unlike most other businesses who just verify your card by charging your card a very amount charge like a $1.00 or less to see if it goes through but Broadway Spirits definitely likes to make it extremely hard on first time customers by having to actually call you and ask your permission to run this charge through. I have no objection to their wanting to verify my card but I do object that this is not stated when placing the order. And to make matters even worse, they do not even request on their online order form a phone number where you can be reached should they need to contact you that day. When I placed the order, I had included all instructions for delivery and a birthday message to be included for the recipient. Broadway Spirits tried to call me later that day on the phone number that is linked to my credit card information which was not a contact number for me on that day and they had no right to assume it was a contact phone number. They emailed me however I placed that order while being on vacation and since I received their confirmation email I expected that the order would be delivered as requested and since I was in a different time zone it was too late when I saw their email for there to be any chance of getting this order being delivered on that day anymore. I didn't call them until I returned home since there was no point because I had only wanted this gift delivered on the recipient's actual birthday not the next day or a few days later. When I did call them they said this is their policy for first time customers and admitted they saw my instructions for same day delivery and admitted they saw it was for a birthday gift but obviously could have cared less and made no effort to try to process the order using my credit card information which I provided them when they didn't reach me. They had no answer for me why they sent a confirmation email if it wasn't a confirmed order-that was just so misleading! They admitted they should have had a same day contact number requested on their online form but made no exception to help get this order processed when they couldn't reach me. Their response was to offer me a 10% discount-which I declined because I would never use them again. I guess these people don't understand the importance of delivering gifts on time because their website should never say same day delivery without explaining their exception policy for first time customers. I feel they totally mispresent themselves and fortunately, there are plenty of great liquor stores in the city with a very large delivery radius area who definitely do not penalize first time customers like Broadway Spirits does. I obviously can't speak for their repeat customers because I will never be one of them. read more
