I wish someone had warned us against Cooper before we hired them. They are by far the most expensive contractor in our area. They are careless with their work and with protecting your home as they work. When things go wrong (as they did with every job they did for us), they will search for ways to avoid responsibility for their errors. You may choose them because they will always answer the phone where some local contractors may be harder to reach -- but once things go wrong with their work they will suddenly disappear. Pricing is outrageous. 600$ for a 2 hour service call to recharge the system. Their tech spends 5 minutes explaining and showing how "whoever put the lines together did it wrong"... when I say it was them he suddenly isn't talkative any more. read more

Technician was on time, friendly and well versed in his trade. My complaint is regarding the refrigerant re-charge cost. I was advised I was low and I was asked if I wanted it filled without any information regarding cost. After all was said and done I was charge $294 for refrigerant alone. I have a home warranty that would have charged $0 for refrigerant. Being a first time homeowner and thinking I would go with what seemed to be a trusted local business I would have thought they would notify you of this cost before charging. Our air conditioning finally broke not to be revived. Cooper Mechanical had a friendly salesman Matt come out the day after we called. I tested him a bit and he knew all about several different brands I had researched online. We got several quotes and Cooper was very competitive. These guys are phenomenal. I had a major pipe burst issue at my home. Having no clue what to do and how to proceed, my local plumber (single person) recommended them to me as I may need a major system overhaul. Within 24 hours a plumber was on site and in 48 hours the head of department was there to go over options with me. Ultimately we decided on a major heading system overhaul. They worked great with my contractor and came in right on budget with their proposal. Quick, efficient, kind and informative. Great group. I went to the shop twice before the project with specifications & pictures of the pipes & type of connectors & flex pipe needed. I spoke with Jimmy & Dan The tech came w/o the required flex pipes & then wanted to drive back to the shop to "see what they have" while I am paying $100+/hour for his time. I said to CALL THE SHOP. He then went into his van & I had to go out to him 15 minutes later to what is taking so long. He said the shop did not have the flex pipe & I told him just to do the valves & male connector & I would get the flex pipe from another plumbing supply & connect it myself. It took him some more tome to find the parts & overall it took TWO HOURS to do a 1/2 hour job. I wasted two trips to the shop before the tech came out just to avoid what happened. Horrible experience & real attempts to drag out the service time to pump up the bill. Also parts pricing is crazy. Over $109 for just two ball valves for 3/4 pipe? They are available from Amazon for $20 each & $30 each at any plumbing supply house. Horrible experience. One of the worst I've ever had with a company doing business with the public. read more

Last fall, I had an $8000 AC system installed. The 2 young guys could not wait to leave, and did a poor job of cleaning up, and did not check the balance of he AC vents. They had to leave, it was the Friday before labor day. That night the vent with the new hose was making a lot of noise in the bedroom and I called to see if they would come and fix the problem. They said I had to wait until Monday! Monday arrives and a different person arrives to check on the problem. He adjusts the slider on the attic unit, but does not want to stop the "hissing entirely because it would make the other vents noisy. This year , Steve , a trusted service tech, does the normal check up and when trying to stop the bedroom noise, finds that 2 vanes on the vent were shut causing the noise. This had to be broken when the new unit was installed, since they replaced this hose on the vent! As I tried to find another vent, it seems the 11" sguare vent is no longer made! Only 12" square vents are available now, and whether the hose connection to the vent is the same, is questionable! Very sloppy work on this job! Will use another outfit fro AC service. I do not trust their workmanship. read more

DO NOT HIRE ANYONE BUT COOPER. VALUE VALUE VALUE! Use my research and experience to help you: Let me start my saying that your system is only as good as the install job. For example, a Goodman Unit installed right is better, cheaper to run, cheaper to buy, and more efficient than a Trane not installed well. I knew I needed a good installer...One who will get the ductwork neat, clean, and tight. Brand is secondary. I just purchased this (large, upscale) house in June and the upstairs AC was not cooling the house. It ran all day, didn't cool, and my electric bill was $642 for the first month here. So first I called a different |HVAC company. They did a $99 diagnostic and said the system was charged with coolant and fine, just old. Yet another week of a heat wave went by and no relief with it running all week. So I decided to get estimates from three reputable companies. One was a Trane providing company. Another was Lowes, and the other was Cooper, who my next door neighbor recommended. I gathered from the three estimators that my old upstairs system was leaking, rotted, and the duct work was decomposing and full of gaps. They showed me leaks, stained wood, and gaps. The $99 diagnostic local company was wrong saying the system was fine! Cooper was the ONLY company that wanted to replace ALL of the ductwork. The other two were going to only replace some and if I was lucky tape over the holes. I got all new ductwork with a new, higher R value, and two Carrier systems installed for less than my other estimates. They are the only company to include a whole house air filter for each system (April Aire). I heard them working, they ran into problems where they found other issues and I heard the guys talking and they called the shop to have more sheet metal delivered and took care of any problems they found. This is while they were up in a 120 degree attic covered in sweat and could have rushed to get out of there. They started the job by running carpet protector up the stairs and along the carpeted work path and drop cloths on the hardwood. The job was done really neatly and I have attached photos. My AC blew a capacitor and I tried to find it at the local big box stores. A friend suggested Cooper and they had had it in stock at a reasonable price. Was able to replace it and have AC up and running a day before Amazon would have delivered it. read more
