I would suggest not to believe the sign saying 189 steps.... it is definitely more! Take drinking water because you'll need that for sure. We went back in August and the heat was definitely there. The parking lot was pretty packed but throughout the trails people were pretty evenly spaced out. Not so much at the base of the falls themselves but there was still plenty of room to move around freely.

The waterfall and surrounding scenery are absolutely beautiful, and you can easily spend some time relaxing on the rocks and taking in the view. You don't have to get in the water if that's not your thing; there are plenty of rocks around the area where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. There are both upper and lower sections of the waterfall, so depending on how much walking you want to do, you can choose which area to explore. We walked to the lookout point first, which gives you a view of the waterfall from above. From up there, everyone below looks like little ants! Before reaching the bridge, there are stairs that lead down to the actual waterfall, which I definitely recommend checking out. Overall, it's a beautiful spot, and the hike is very manageable!

The Baseball Hall of Fame being so close was a big reason we stayed here . Everything in this area is so scenic. Ellen was just so friendly and helpful from the initial phone call to checking out to leave. We stayed in the Deluxe Cabin #5. It was so close to the store, rec room, pool, playground and arcade. It was just the best cabin. All new with a large bathroom. Plenty of room for all. The arcade- reasonably priced was a hit with our grandson. The best though was the fishing. He absolutely loved it. Well stocked you get bites from fish on almost every cast. There are some big ones in there as well and have photos to prove it. They carry small fishing rods for sale and tackle too. Bait - yes they have that also. We had a great time at this family friendly campground and we are already making plans to return next year.

It's a nice walk around the main lake. Amazing pictures to be taken of foliage and lake. I would say avoid Summer crowd as it can bring in some riff raff campers. Not great hiking unless your looking for flat dirt road hiking. If you don't plan on camping you can rent a Log cabin. The log cabin rentals are....eh? Do your homework prior to going to be sure you know what your renting. Has beach on end of the lake but can sometimes be mud and not sand. They do have row boat and kayak rentals that are pretty nice. Food stand is good with decent food stand food. All in all it's not a bad place but very low adventure but pretty.

The tables are a good distance from each other and perfect for the 6 ft social distancing amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. This park was not crowded, had a few families and dogs- but just the perfect amount this past Saturday. I really enjoyed being here and was so grateful for the views. They have a nice hiking trail and it's a wide open space. I am thankful for the lake where you can canoe and kayak. Everyone is very respectful to each other. The park also has two lovely playgrounds for children to play on- after the pandemic. I can't say enough good things about this park because it's just perfect. If you ever have a chance to get outside and explore this is the place to be. Early mornings in the summer - I cannot wait to go back- but friends don't forget your masks! Stay safe!

We came here every day to enjoy the lovely view of the lake, take a leisurely stroll with the dog, and spend an afternoon fishing (for my 15 year old son). It's about a 15-20 minute drive from Cooperstown along the east shore. At the main entrance, you'll pay a $7 admission fee per vehiecle, or you can just show your NY State Parks Empire Pass card. This is a gem of a park that is well worth the price of admission. First, it feels open and spacious with nice hiking trails. Second, the view of Lake Otsego is lovely. You may see a few kayakers or windsurfers on the lake depending on weather conditions. If you have young children, this is a must-visit place as there are kid-friendly playgrounds. Third, the lake is shallow and calm by the beach, but the water temperature can feel a bit chilly. In the summer, they have lifeguards available starting at 11:00am. Finally, the park has a concession stand which sells basic snacks, hot dogs, and drinks. It's also worth it to take a short walk up the hill to see Hyde Hall and the view of the lake from there!

I went there in person yesterday for two nights at their "primitive" tent sites. After Hanna checked her computer, my dates were all clear ...great, then let me pay the $70... but no... she had to check with management first. I thought that was strange since that never happened to me before when getting available campsites. I was told I'd be called later that day but nobody called me. I went back the next day only to be told all sites for the summer were rented out. Clearly that was not true based on her computer check the day before. BOTTOMLINE: if you are not a baseball family spending $1000's here, don't expect to even get the time of day. Therefore, they do not deserve anyone's business.

Our cabins were clean and well appointed with sheets, blankets, towels, coffee pot, toaster, small refrigerator, microwave and several utensils that the prior tenant had left. The views are amazing, the grounds are beautiful. We had so much fun here. Here are some tips: *every cabin gets a fire pit and picnic table *buy a $10 chair at Walmart to put on your porch. It'll be the best $10 ever spent. *All Star Village is across the street. It's about a 15 min. walk on a steep hill. *have your team party at the Pavilion. There are 2 grills, fire pit, lighting, and camp host offers several chairs for seating around the fire pit. * the cabins closer to the pool are a bit larger, and they have a stove. Book your team here!! You won't regret it!!
