Last night I went there to purchase wine, beer, and liquor for holiday giving. The usual guy takes my debit card and gives me a receipt for $125 and change. Note: this place **never** offers or gives a receipt unless the customer requests one. I think to myself, that's pretty high for two six packs of beer, two bottles of wine, and a bottle of liquor. BUT, I think, I'll check the receipt when I get home. When I got home and inspected the receipt I noted that it is NOT itemized, it just says $125 paid. So I go online and see the Connecticut prices of what I bought. I WAS FURIOUS -- I called the store and asked them to tell me what they charge for the few items I bought. The guy on the phone says that they MISTAKENLY charged me twice for everything. So I get back in the car, drive back to the store, they issued a refund and took back their goods. BOTTOM LINE -- these places that don't give receipts are suspect. I AM NEVER GOING BACK to a place that rips you off, then inconveniences you to make it right.

Inside, I hoped to find a new replenishment of Scotch Whiskey or a new Craft Ale. We browsed slightly, prices tempting, but we (she) stayed firm on our objective. Of course, it's almost on the back corner and rows of wine and every hard liquor and beer imaginable. We grabbed our beloved Kahlúa only (with a tear welling up). I will admit to patronizing several of them, but my search for a local liquor store as ceased with the discovery (and more frequent patronization) of Townline Discount Wines & Liquors, which surpasses them all. Yes, they carry a wide range of mass produced wine, beer, and spirits but they also carry some unique selections, all at competitive prices. They also have a good selection of local, craft and small batch beer (which I appreciate more and more). In addition to the selection, they get high marks from me for their customer service. The owners have always been very friendly, helpful, and accommodating, even going as far as to offer to purchase a varietal of wine not on their shelves. Now that's customer service!

While I enjoy shopping here, I do prefer the Milford location when it comes to the craft beer singles selections. A big downside was at checkout. I had just gotten a new phone and hadn't finished setting up my Apple Wallet, so paying took a little longer than expected. Unfortunately, the cashier didn't seem very patient, which made the interaction feel a bit rushed and weird. Next time I'm in the area I'll just hold off and stop by the one in Milford which is on the way home for me anyway.
