I'm new to the dance world and her professionalism and care made my shopping experience a breeze. My daughter loves their selection and was able to find everything she needed and more. My daughter had 3 different shoes in 3 different sizes which would have been a nightmare to determine via the internet. Having danced my whole life, I've purchased leotards, shoes, etc at various dance stores but Coppelia and it's owner MaryAnn set my daughter up for success this year and we are so thankful. If you are ever in the vicinity of Spring Lake, NJ, and you need any ballet gear or basic jazz or tap supplies, check out Coppélia Dancewear. I just spent a couple of hours chatting with the owner. I can tell you as a former dancer and a dance teacher that she is well-stocked for ballet, and is good at fitting ballet slippers and pointe shoes. She studied, is knowledgeable about, and is an avid fan of classical ballet. Moreover, she is pleasant and helpful. She had many beautiful leos and skirts -- way more inventory than I'd have expected in a space that size -- and it's all beautifully organized. I find her taste to be a cut above what I usually find in dancewear stores. If I lived closer, I'd be there regularly. If you go, tell her her Boston friend, Mariama Congo, sent you! read more

I went there looking for tights that my daughter needed for her competition. I left with the tights plus some Christmas gifts! The owner, Mary Ann, is delightful and helpful. The store is stocked with a fabulous selection of dance wear. It is all neatly organized and so fun to look at! My eight year old can't wait to visit the store. read more

I was at this store this past weekend looking for dance shoes. For starters, the shoes are not on display. So, you have to wait to be waited on. When the owner approached me, I was told that if I was there just to try shoes I needed to pay a $20 fee. Her approach and tone towards me (a latino woman) seem to imply that i was there just to waste her time and that I most likely couldn't afford her shoes. I asked to see pictures of her available shoes and then I would make a decision, but after thinking it through I left. There are other shoe stores willing to give good service and make sure you end up with the right shoe for your dancing needs. I do not believe in paying for unfriendly service. Plus, I have never been to any store that charges a fitting fee, regardless of what you are purchasing. read more

I'm in the area of Spring Lake often, but this store is NEVER open when I'm around; the store hours are absurd. I managed to finally pay the store a visit one day, only because I was off of work, and I was so bothered by the demeanor of the owner that I had to leave this review. She was extremely unpleasant and rude. In addition to her nasty tone with me, I overheard her tone with others as well, and I was so uncomfortable that I had to leave the store. It is very easy to distinguish that she is the kind of owner who turns on the charm when people are definitely going to spend money there, which may be why the customer below had a positive experience. She should definitely work on an attitude adjustment, as well as possibly being open for longer than 5 hours a day. read more
