Excellent experience. My daughter found a dress that she loved and Park Ave. South was one of the only retailers in the state to still have one in stock. We were able to get an appt. for the next evening. She did love it, but the dress was not her size. However, their amazing seamstress was able to turn the back into a corset lace-up & it fit beautifully. My daughter was also a little concerned it was too full on the bottom, so she removed a layer of tulle. The total cost of the alterations to customize the dress as well as shorten it was reasonable. The shop is full of dresses to try, which does make it a bit tight on a busy day, but so are many other salons. We scheduled most of our appointments in the early evening and didn't have a problem. There were plenty of young women to help us who were very knowledgeable on current styles and kind but didn't pressure us to purchase. We never felt rushed like we did in other salons (some have a strict 30 min. appt. policy) and honestly, she was treated like a princess, and we had fun. It wasn't a chore for me. We made a total of 3 visits and the owner was also welcoming to us. He greeted us by name and made us feel like valued customers during the chaotic prom season, not just another number. I admit I was a little nervous as we'd made some major changes to the dress, but it came out absolutely perfect. This was her 2nd prom, so we'd been through this before and appreciate the great experience, which is why I'm taking the time to recommend Park Ave. South. I have referred people since and will be back for daughter #2. read more

The owner Nick saved the day today! We had a horrific experience at Coco Chateau in Mine Hills & left without ordering anything. My daughter & her MOH were calling bridal stores as I was driving the 2 hours back home. Her MOH called this gentleman by chance & not only did he carry the designer, have the exact dress in the store but he allowed us to go in without an appointment on very short notice! It was a terrible experience. Had an appointment but you really don't need one. Never bothered to check to see if I had an appointment. The place is crowded and chaotic. Very little room between racks. The place didn't appear to be clean. The dressing rooms were very small. Girls were bumping into each other. My daughter was shoved by another customer. The mirror area was small. We had an older woman wanting to help us but once we decided that we didn't want to see anymore dresses she just walked away from us. We had an afternoon appointment here on December 30,2021 for mother of the bride dresses. Immediately upon entering, no one is wearing a mask. No big deal- we just asked for distance while looking around. The man working said he understood and no problem. However, all of the women working took offense to us wanting distance. They were extremely rude, even making snide comments while my mother was in the dressing room. Honestly, even if we found a great dress there, I would not buy it just because of the horrendous attitudes we encountered. Would not recommend this business. read more

I happened to be in the Toms River area, so I went to the local mall in search for a ball dress. But the mall had no formal dress shops, so a gal at Macy's recommend Park Ave South Boutique (one shopping center away, next to Marshalls). I was greeted right away, asked for size and style preference, and by the second dressing room changeover-I had found MY dress! It was gorgeous, and exactly what I had asked for!!! And I thought she (Karen, I think her name was?) had no idea what I was talking about, but she brought me a dress which was everything I'd asked for and more. She even gave me $20 off the purchase price, and recommended other items to make my dress pop. She was very kind, and so helpful. She made a last minute dress search into an effortless task. The dress was somewhat pricey, but the dresses are all statement pieces. Most of the dresses run small, because they are purchased from China, so don't be discouraged if your normal size runs small. Karen warned me of this, so I was less shocked. LOL. She has also been in the dress business for 26 years, so she knows her stuff. I drove 90 minutes to get to this store after searching all of the little boutique stores in bergen county. TOTALLY worth the trip! I was looking for a prom dress for my daughter. We found THE dress THE shoes and sang to the radio all the way up the parkway on our way home. The owner was very knowledgeable and hooked us up with a dress we had looking for everywere. They have a HUGE selection of dress up to size 22 which was impresssive and tons to choose from. Staff was patient and helpful. If you are looking for something in particular, they will get it for you. Every dress we saw in all the boutiques we shopped in was at this place. So February 18, 2015 I realize that my daughter has less than 3 months until her HS prom. I refused to look for a dress on a Saturday so I decided to take a day off since my daughter was out of school for winter break. Two days later Friday, February 20 would happen to be the coldest day ever! We live in Bergen County and of course no girl will get a dress from Bergen County if they live in Bergen. Ok, so I played the go to southern NJ for a dress game with my daughter; but, I am a planner. I Googled a few places down in Ocean County and I came across three stores. I found all three websites but I decided to call so I can get a better idea as to what they have. Why? My daughter is not the thinnest girl and she's not obese. My kid is what they call country thick (yep, just like her Ma). My Daughter tried on three dresses and we nailed it with dress #4. The dress was very beautiful and the price was under my budget too. I couldn't believe that we found a dress within 45 min. Woohoo! Here's what I liked about Park Avenue: 1. Many many dresses. I think they have 3k dresses in that store. 2. the saleswoman...I wish I knew her name but she was a mature woman. She didn't try to sell me a $700 dress or a $1k dress. She said if you want those I can sell you those but with college and other expenses I know your concerns. 3. You will feel comfortable if you're a size 2 or a size 22. The woman advised us that it was good that I didn't come on a Saturday since we are in peak season for prom dress shopping. She said sometimes for a Saturday visit during peak season you have to wait on line outside the store. Price range: Park Ave has all different price ranges. Drove 1.5 hours with an appointment and the place was packed. We were shoved in a small dressing room off to the side. Decent selection of prom dresses but all were bagged so you could not really tell how they looked. We ended up finding a dress for $658 dollars ( a bit steep). My biggest issue was the small dressing rooms. You couldn't examine the dress really well and when we got home and tried it on again SEVERAL large beads were missing. I know it was my fault for not inspecting the dress better but it was really cramped and they were closing and we felt rushed at the end. Word to the wise.......no matter how hard it might be, inspect your dress with a fine tooth comb! read more

If you are looking for a gown for that special occasion, Park Avenue South is the place to go! I saw a gown by the designer Jovani in a Manhattan gown store. However; they were unable to get the gown in the size and the color I wanted. I called the designer directly and they said this gown would not be shipped again until December but, my son was getting married in the beginning of November and I wanted to wear it for his wedding. They suggested I call shops that carried their gowns as it would be a hit or miss situation. I called all over the United States looking for this gown. When I had just about resigned myself to the fact that I would not be able to get this gown, Nick from Park Avenue South in Toms River called me back. He said he could have the gown in the size and color I wanted. Of course, I was in disbelief because the designer had told me it was unlikely I would find it. Nick even sent me a picture of the gown to assure me that it was the exact gown. He was very honest with me and said it would be possible that the gown might not come into his store until the end of October but, he knew for sure he would have it. He was even willing to put in writing if he did not receive the gown by the end of October, I would have a full refund on my deposit. I was nervous about cutting it so close to the wedding but, I really couldn't ask for more than that and is showed me that he was being both fair and honest!! By the second week in October, Nick called me to say he had my gown in his hand. I was thrilled!! My only regret is that I did not get to meet Nick when I picked the gown up to thank him personally. The ladies in the store, Karen and Georgette, were also very kind and helpful. This was, by far, one of the best buying experiences I have ever had, and I can't thank Nick enough!! He was able to do what a big Manhattan store couldn't do, and he really understood what this meant to me. Nick cares about his customers in a way many stores no longer do.
