It was a great short experience at the museum. You can easily spend 1-2 hrs looking at all the items made from copper. It is $11 and there is a small parking lot next door. Roman gave us a brief history on Clark. I would definitely return and stay longer.

Made an impromptu stop in here while driving through Clarkdale and don't regret it. Super cool to hear and see the whole history of copper as well as the building. Reception was super nice and helpful in giving history on certain things. Would highly recommend coming in and checking it out if you have an hour or so to burn. Only $11 for adults to get in.

A must stop and see kind of museum- this museum gives you the history of Clarkdale founded in 1912. Clarkdale was built by Senator W. A. Clark as a smelting town for Jerome (a mining city, up the mountain) that produced over 100 billion pounds of copper! This museum is new, opening to the public just 10 years ago- its home is the former Clarkdale school. This museum boasts of a stunning, massive and incomparable collection of 6000+ Copper Artifacts of North American and European Emphasis. With the following galleries: Introduction Information Military Art Art and Architecture Kitchen Drinking Distillery and Winery Rooms I found the Military art intriguing with it's many styles of trench art, battle artillery shells turned into pieces of art. I learned about how copper is found in numerous semi-precious stones and these were crushed and used as pigments for dyeing clothing or used in painting. The kitchen gallery simply blew my mind. The antique copper stoves in blue and green had me wishing for one! I learned about foods that have copper content in them, how many different professions and hobbies used copper in their tools- diving, boating, musical instruments and more! So much information crammed into this one museum. I also was mesmerized by the copper ceiling tiles and instantly wanted copper gargoyle waterspouts! Highly recommend the stop!

Art made from German shell casings. Very cool!

Loved this place! What a surprise! $9.75 entry fee for the museum. Very nice inside with super friendly staff. The displays are awesome, you can touch and take all of the pics you want. We learned so much here! I had no idea the WW1 soldiers created trench art and made shell casings into works of art! Amazing collection of them. Beautiful kitchen room filled with every kind of copper pot, mold, vessel you could thing of! Beautiful room. There are more rooms too. Art, metalergy, history, it goes on and On. You can make it a quick or long visit. Up to you. Very happy we went. We learned a lot!!

We finally made it to this museum after many visits to Jerome and driving through Clarkdale. We had heard from other tourists that it was a good museum to visit. We really liked how they repurposed the high school and incorporated the school's history with the copper history. The property is beautiful and there is so much to see and learn. We definitely were surprised by a number of items especially how hospitals could have more antimicrobial protection from germs if metallic copper was used on handrails & door knobs. There were so many examples of coppers use in history and current day. Because it is a self guided tour you can take as long or as little time as you like. Don't miss the story in the 1st 'student' of the high school. If you have time in your visit to the area, take in this Museum/Clarkdale & Jerome.

Really neat place to wander around for a couple hours. We enjoyed learning about the history of Clarkdale and Jerome. Also how the copper mines made a few select people very wealthy! The museum is housed in the old high school so the artifacts are divided into separate rooms. We enjoyed the Trench Art and the Kitchen the most. We also learned a lot about metals!

Wow! Lots of beautiful and interesting copper things to see! Staff is informative. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend. Short drive from Sedona

I enjoyed visiting the Copper Art Museum. This museum had everything that you can imagine made of copper. I loved that the museum is set up in a beautiful abandoned and later repurposed high school. It looks in mint condition and is exceptionally clean. There is a lot of love pored into this place. They do a great job of combining history and artifacts. The museum is divided up into seven categories: 1.Religious Art Room 2.Military Art Room 3.Information Room 4.Art and Architecture Room 5.Kitchenware Collection 6.Drinkware Collection 7.Distillery & Winery All seven rooms were interesting but the Military Art Room and the Distillery &Winery were my favorites.

When visiting Sedona, Cottonwood or Cornville take a short drive to Clarkdale to visit the Arizona Copper Art Museum. The museum is in a former High School. The museum is a complete story of copper and has an amazing collection of over 5000 copper artifacts. The gallery collections are grouped by Art and Architecture, Drinkware and Trench Art. The tour is self guided but there is an introduction by a docent that is available for questions.

The museum is housed in the old Clarkdale High School which originally opened in March 1928. The building served as a high school until 1960. When restored to create the Copper Art Museum, much of the original structure, including the maple flooring, were preserved. Restoration occurred from 2005-2012. The museum is organized into several rooms - one room focused on copper military art; one focused on copper and it's use in cooking; one focused on copper's use in art and architecture and one focused on copper and the wine industry. There were excellent displays on the history of the copper industry and how copper was initially discovered and used by our ancestors. The where also some interesting outdoor displays. A gentleman working in the museum asked us several times if we had any questions and was quite helpful. This is an excellent museum and should won your list while in the area. Allow at least 1 hour to see this museum.

For geology enthusiast and curious minds the Copper Art Museum educates you from extraction, uses of copper in various ways from bullet casings in WW1 and WW2 to cooking/baking pans to holistic and agricultural uses and even mythological associations (Venus). Highly recommend!

What a nice surprise! I learned a lot about copper, from uses in cooking, to art making during wars, and its long history.

My favorite room was full of "trench art," made from WW1 shell casings while the troops were stuck in the trenches.

This great little town is between Cottonwood and Jerome and offers so much. Clarkdale is a town founded for the families and men who worked the copper mine in Jerome and also became the smelting town for the copper, gold, silver and zinc mine just up the mountain. The train tour is a wonderful treat- luxurious cars with comfortable seating, open air cars to enjoy the scenery and weather while riding the train, and the tour itself is wonderful and full of history. The Copper Art Museum is amazing! The history of copper, the various uses, antiques, arts, and more. The museum give great history on the town and area. The brewery was all for John- but the copper bar top was glorious. If I am ever in the area again, I will be sure to stop into town again and explore even more.

The center has been here for 15 years and exists primarily to display artifacts recovered from a single site in the area. This is extremely rare as most sites have been pillaged by pot hunters over the last 100+ years, and this site was privately owned and protected for many decades. I was honored to received what was basically a private tour of the facility by the executive director Monica Buckle. She took her time and provided much detail to give an excellent overview of this facility. Thank you so much Monica!
