What a wonderful experience we had here 'by accident'.. we were literally killing time until a dinner reservation and stumbled into this place. It's perfect. Rustic, old fashioned, bordering on unsafe, and perfect as it should be. 100% get the satchel of dirt and take a lesson on panning for gold.. it seemed 'juvenile' for my wife & I but we TOTALLY enjoyed it and were laughing with the lady teaching us. The price has shot up recently, 18 for adults and 12 for kids, but it was still a fun experience. We didn't pay for the panning for gold (extra 18), or feeding the animals (extra 12). I still got to pet some goats, though! The blacksmith there helped me (14yr) to make a cool metal heart. It was fun for me, but overpriced. My younger brother (8) was bored, but my dad had a blast looking at all the antique stuff. Seems like it's a place for very specific people. For me, though, it was fun. I loved seeing all the animals there, and I even spotted a hummingbird, lol. The mine was closed off, but you can see the old houses and mining tools. They have a replica of what it did look like that you can take a tiny walk through! (Just to be clear, the blacksmith part of the experience was a 5 stars!) The stars are docked due to the prices. But if you have the money to spend and an odd fascination to animals surrounded by mining gear, then you'd enjoy it! read more

Well, bless my boots, this place is a goldmine of fun for all ages--kids, adults, even those grumpy folks who swore they'd sit in the car the whole time! There's even a petting zoo, and you can say your farewells to the turkey--he's probably someone's Thanksgiving feast next month! Cracking open geodes is a hoot--pro tip: go for the lighter ones, they've got the best crystals inside. What a great find. Jerome has so much history. I was in aww, on how much is here. Easy to get to, you have access to walk the grounds of the Gold King mine. You'll find some cool old school buses, tools, and many more. Everything here was fun to explore. Chickens, donkeys, and a few other animals roam the area. A small store is open for you. This is a must visit when in Jerome. Its not at all far from the town and it seems to be that you can spend all day here exploring. The road to get there is bumpy and dusty and there is free parking out front. We arrived later in the day and unfortunately we weren't going to have enough time to explore it all so we opted to not pay to get into the grounds. We were able to visit the gift shop though and we spent about 45 minutes there. The gift shop had many cute things and it was hard not to buy it all. The aisles are a little narrow and so we had to be careful not to knock anything over. I will definitely be back again soon and actually have enough time to explore the grounds. read more

We have visited a few times and our only critique is...if you've visited twice you've probably seen it all. Worth the trip up the hill from Jerome. We drove up on a rainy/snowy mix of a gray November day. Perfect for a ghost town visit! Super kind lady greeted us and we had a great time checking out the sights, the interesting gift shop, and warming up beside the wood fired stove! And the old kitty cat on the counter was another great attraction too! There's just sooo much "Sedona" you can take so if you're up there or in Prescott, make your way up here for a visit. read more

It's kinda exactly what you think it is... almost like a junkyard of relics but it's also kinda fun to wander around and look at all the items. You could probably come here 100 times and see something new each time. You pull into a gift shop where you pay to enter the outdoor collection. They have an old mine entrance that actually connects to a bunch of tunnels below, it is fenced off and you can't access it but it's cool to see. They have a lot of animals wondering: chickens, a Turkey. They have goats and a pig enclosed in fences and this was the highlight for me. They are all pretty friendly and not bothered by people. Worth the 7.00 a person if you like antique equipment, vehicles and mining. Every inch of property was covered with old cars, trucks, equipment, tools, old wooden buildings and little shacks from a different time. My husband enjoyed it, having interest in these things. No ghost were found. For a moment I thought maybe, when a piece of burlap in the window flapped in the wind. There was a very small farm animal area with a somewhat looking bored potbelly pig, some adorable pigmy goats and a chicken house. I made the mistake of going into it and a rooster started crowing at me and the chorus started up. Turns out you can buy food to feed them and I didn't have any. Was it fabulous...no, but worth going by when visiting Jerome. read more

This is such a cool little place to explore when visiting a Jerome. Just a few dollars to enter the main area after walking through the gift shop. There are lots old trucks / cars / buses to look at. They now have signs that you can't get in or on them. As you can see from a photo I posted we did get on one, but that was years ago and I promise there were no signs saying stay off! There is an active sawmill, so that is really cool to watch. Lots of other areas to explore. Plus animals!! Pigs, chickens, and a donkey. You can feed and pet them. This place is must visit in Jerome town. The only mine remains sparring across huge area and most advertised things to do in town. Just $7 is entry fees and you get to see enormous old and antique things. Surprised with their collections of old motor vehicles. Atleast 50+ easily with truck cars crane and what not. Theme based many small houses portraying old time culture and the appliances/machines used. It's difficult to depict in words. You need to really see this place through your eyes. But i tried to post as many pics possible which will give you good idea about this place. Atleast 1.5 hours needed to see everything here. They has so many funny boards everywhere. Ex: Old goat lives here with his chicks. LOL They have hens , donkeys , pigs living in their own display houses. There is a small gift too via which you enter and exit this place. Old defunct "mining town" at the end of the road at the top of the hill / mountain in Jerome. There's not a real ton to do here after the gift shop except look at some old trucks and buildings that are definitely abandoned or quite outdated and not at all haunted. There are a few farm animals which are good for doing chores or laying eggs I think, so if that's your fun definitely stop by. The old dentist's office was slightly creepy, but other than that this place is more kitschy or quaint than scary. If you enjoy junkyards or scrap heaps, this is definitely up your alley. We really liked this place. We were here on a Saturday. In Jerome it was so crowded so it was nice to be out of the crowded area for a bit. We enjoyed waking around and looking at all the old stuff. We spent a good hour + looking around. If you stop and read the signs it will tell you about the different buildings that you can see and what they used to be and what they are currently. Shacks made out of old wood looks like they're going to collapse. A bunch of old trucks like a junkyard. Pretty cool spot to take pictures there's a gift shop which is cool. This is definitely a "MEH. Seriously" place that lacks any real stuff worth touring, call this a tourist trap not worth the $7 entrance fee. It's basically a hoarder's paradise of antique cars, old shacks from when the mine was at full-blown operation, and junk. The only reason this place can call itself a mine is because it sits on the property where the mine exists, but you cannot get a tour of the mine. It's completely a self-guided meander that may take you 45 minutes at most unless you find the cute barnyard animals. A visit to the small town of Jerome is well worth the detour off the main roads. This is an OLD and very rustic town that is a throwback to the early days of copper mining. And right on the edge of Jerome is the Gold King Mine and Ghost Town. This is truly a tourist attraction and does not portend to be an actual museum but it's a really neat place to spend an hour browsing a lot of old stuff and a lot of kitschy displays. This site's true value is primarily for entertainment purposes. You're not going to have an educational experience here but you'll likely have a good time. And - as other reviews have noted -- it's not really a "mine" or a "ghost town" -- just a place of kitschy stuff. read more

If you are looking for something big and showy I wouldn't say this is the place for you. If you are interested in history and the story and relics that go along with that history then you will have a great time. The entire area looks dilapidated and run down but that is part of its story. Many of the original buildings still stand with some of the items still inside. Truly a treasure trove for a history lover. There is a spot where you can "pan for gold or gems" but you have to pay for that in the gift shop where you also pay your entrance fee. They also sell small bags of food that you can feed the animals. We had multiple people in our group ranging in age from 8 to 50 years old. We all enjoyed it. My one warning is that there are a ton of wasps that fly around. read more

Visited here as we were waiting for our hotel room check in. I think it is a hidden gem! Even saw a car like my Dads yellow coupe with his fave number 39 on it! Made me tear up. There was a very nice gentleman there that chatted with us about some history. It's not fancy and you are on your own. I was super excited there was a petting zoo I didn't know beforehand. The ghost town and mine were pretty cool, but I'm more so writing this review to make ownership know that upon exiting and walking to our car my husband and I saw a dog, then a man who was chopping wood down the road, drive up and stop to get him (which was a relief), until he started hitting his dog, dragging him around by his neck and throwing him in the vehicle. I said something to this man, and he just responded that it was his dog and he could do whatever he wants. Normally I would have called the police, but in the area we were in, I was doubtful we would get a response. To the people running the place, get rid of this guy ASAP. read more

They let you wonder around the very big area by yourself. They lady working there told us the history of the owner who is now passed but I loved his vision of this attraction. I loved this town! The cashier was friendly and the histroy in this place was fantastic! The city of Jerome was very diverse, had Asians, Mexicans, African-Americans, Native-Americans, and Irish and Polish people. Mian Situ, a famous artist, made a painitng depicting Asian launderers and a print out of it was hung in the century-old laundromat, reflecting its cool history! There was a huge generator with three columns that looked like battleship canons, and the amount of interesting antiques related to the town, mining, and the buildings themselves, plus all the interesting trucks and machinery, PLUS the animals and memorable gift shop made this one of my favorite places to visit. Also, the drive up to the Ghost Town is gorgeous! They really are honoring Don Robertson's memory and love of all things historic. Thank you guys! read more

We enjoyed walking around this ghost town taking lots of pictures, but it's very small compared to Bodi or Calico ghost town. In the website, the pictures looked more interesting than in person as we visit today at the truck yard because there were too many trucks and cars thrown in this place so it looked like more a junk yard. When you see a "store" like laundry store or "shoes repair " store, pushed the door and check inside, lots of old artifacts in there. It's more interesting this area than the trucks yard. We finished everything within 1 hour, but it's interesting nevertheless. read more

Sad we drove all the way here just for this and we were unlucky to choose to come on a Tuesday the one day they close. Surprised a tourist attraction has off days since tourists come all weeklong. I saw they were open on yelp and came here and all the signs said open daily 10-5pm and drove all the way to the top entrance just for it to tell me they close Tuesday. Very inconsistent. Yelp says open but google says closed. Some signs say open everyday, but only till you get to the very front of the entrance does it say they close Tuesdays. As an east valley resident, I have been coming to this attraction for years. What I like the most is that it is free to get into and you only have to pay for the attraction you actually want to see (for example, the serpentarium or the various museums). Part adventure, part education... I feel as though this venue has a little bit of everything for everyone. From the museums to the serpentarium, there is adventure around every corner. The views are spectacular and the live action shows are an added benefit. While the last time we visited this attraction was pre-coronavirus, we have no doubt that they will be back and so will we! read more

This place is a hidden gem. I think people venture into Jerome and don't keep going past the town to this place. My son and I loved wandering around this crazy old place. It was like stepping back in time. If you have small kids you will definitely want to keep an eye on them as there are old rusty cars and lots of things to fall on and hurt yourself. It aint Disneyland - lol. Not a lot of supervision, if any, you pay to get in and you have to use common sense - LOL - just like the old days. It was one of our favorite stops after spending a week in Arizona discovering all kinds of cool places including the Grand Canyon. It was cheap to get in and we even got to feed animals. The collection of antique trucks, equipment, machinery, tools and buildings is very impressive and a great learning experience if you have kids. This was a cool stop about a mile beyond the town of Jerome. We weren't sure if this was THE 'Jerome Ghost Town' people talk about. The town of Jerome didn't seem like much of a ghost town when we drove through...it was very busy for a Monday afternoon and no available parking. We thought we'd tour the ghost town and hope Jerome would clear out some ;-) As others have mentioned, the drive up to the ghost town did seem like driving through a junk yard. Once you reach the parking lot, the entrance to the ghost town is pretty cool. As you enter the backside of the building entrance you're overwhelmed with old antiques. My husband was in heaven. He spent so much time here, looking at everything :-/ They do have a lot of cool, old stuff, but sheesh, someone has been collecting for decades! It was a decent setup and you could walk through everything with ease. They even have chickens walking around the property and a pen with goats and ducks. When we arrived, Big Bertha was sounding off with its guns and horn...very loud, but kinda cool to experience. I guess someone paid the $20 to sound Big Bertha off! The Gold King Mine was only a mile outside of Jerome. A friendly white and orange cat greets you at the door as you enter through the gift shop. For just $5 you get to walk around the "Ghost Town". It was fun to see all of the old cars, and other antiques including a terrifying view of ancient dental tools, old washing machines, a garage with a collection of chainsaws, a view of the entrance to an old mine, and cute goats and chickens. It reminded me of my grandparents old barn full of rusting treasures and old wood. read more
