All I needed was a simple, clean, comfortable, quiet place to sleep while I was in town for a wedding reception. This family owned business fits the bill 100%! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and my room was clean, comfy and exactly what I was hoping for! If you don't need all the "bells and whistles" of some corporate chain, this is the place for you! A nice hot shower and since I'm over six feet tall, it was a pleasure to have a shower head that didn't come out of the wall at my neck. I highly recommend this establishment! read more

Booked a last minute stay here. Didn't realize "Pet friendly" meant that it'd smell like your grandma smoked in there for the 40 years and you won't be able to breathe, or that someone else's dog hair would be ALL over the bathroom. Overpriced, no coffee in the room and only in the lobby. Girl who checked us in had zero people skills and seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there. Used almost an entire bottle of Lysol to try to get the room bearable to sleep in and still had the worst headache of my life. read more

Overpriced, dirty, moldy shower curtains, stained bathrooms, no hand soap, dirty carpet with food and trash on the ground beneath beds, stained bed sheets, no breakfast, poor parking. Not exactly sure when the new owners took over & Julie's Motor Inn became Copper Country Inn but stayed here very recently. The owners are very nice & accommodating. The hotel prices in Houghton are absurd costing well into the $200 per night range so decided to save some money & give Cooper Country a try. I think the place needs a lot of work. Yes, everyone understands this is a motel & no one should be expecting anything bougie but I still think they could have done a lot better. The website pictures make it seem a lot nicer (& roomier) or perhaps it was just our room. Pros: Very easy late arrival process Free WiFi Mini fridge & microwave in room Heater Website mentions AC but I don't think our room had one. We kept trying to turn it on but nothing happened. All good cause the fresh UP air was even better. Not sure but our room appeared to have new windows installed. TV had a good number of channels. Walls seem thick cause never once heard our neighbors. Cons: Most cons all about the bathroom. Bathroom was bad. Stained everything. I think they could have done a much better job of trying to get the previous grime off before flipping the place. Not sure how often they change or launder the cloth shower curtain but once it was wet, it stunk so bad that the room would start to smell if the bathroom door was left open. Almost every electrical outlet was taken by a light or electronic in the room so it was difficult to find a place to charge your phone without unplugging something. With some work I think they might be able to turn this into a better place but I'm not sure I'll be back the next time I'm in Houghton. I guess I never learn that you get what you pay for. read more

Just wrapped up our fifth stay last week. Traveled to witness the beautiful fall colors and were not disappointed. Even the property around the Inn was beautiful in full color. Stayed in one of the larger rooms this time and despite having to change our plans twice, the staff and owner were both patient and accommodating. Clean and quiet, will always be our go to place. My review remains 5 stars, looking forward to visiting again next year. We just wrapped up our fourth stay at Julie's, met the new owners who are wonderful people. We had a nice, quiet three night stay, really love this place. The room was super clean and well priced, they upgraded the TV's to flat screens since our last visit. We will not stay anywhere else in the UP. Can't wait to visit again. Thanks for a wonderful time. Last review from July 2017: Just had our third stay at Julie's. Always love the staff and their flexibility. Perfect proximity to Houghton and a great centralized spot to stay in the Keweenaw. The price is right and we were happy to see many new updates such as new windows and AC units as well as fresh paint and curtains. Super clean and quaint. As other reviewers have stated, it's not the Hilton but the old school feel of vacationing in yesteryear will hold a spot in your heart long after you check out. Room is outdated, and smelled of must/cigarettes even though there is no smoking in the rooms. Great location just outside of downtown Houghton! A quick 3 minute drive. The bike/walking path is right out the front door also. Staff are very friendly! A great place if you're looking for a UP INN that's inexpensive! read more

This was exactly what i needed! I had just had a long day with 10 hours of driving to a job, then 3 hours on the ground and needed a place for the night before heading home the next day. Julie's met the need admirably and without breaking the bank! Older style "mom & pop" style motel, but was very clean, comfortable bed, nice not shower, newer style flat screen TV with decent cable package (I just wanted the news though), and a mini-fridge. No pool, breakfast, etc., but coffee in the morning and friendly owners! I didn't need all the whistles and bells of the bigger facilities, but I also didn't need their bill! I just needed a nice clean, comfortable place to stay for the day before leaving the next morning and Julie's did it! I would definitely recommend them and stay here again if I'm back in the area! read more

This is a great old Mom & Pop operation, a retro motel back to the days when vacationers had to choose between two places across the highway from one another. If you're expecting the Ritz-Carlton, you've never been to Da Yoop. This ain't no Ritz, but if you just need to rest between mine tours, Julie's is a fine place for for not a lot of scratch. Built in the 1950s, it is a typical old motel. The rooms are a little small but comfortable. There is baseboard heat and window air conditioners. There's no in-room coffee nor hair dryer but there's a dorm room 'fridge and a microwave. There's WiFi, although not a lot of bandwidth so it bogs down a little at peak times. I have one bar on my cell phone, but dis is Da Yoop and cell towers are as common as Ferrari's in Kansas. If you're planning on visiting Houghton and you just want an economical place to stay, Julie's is the prescription. read more

My husband and I left Detroit at 5pm and drove all the way to Houghton arriving at 8:30am because every campground and every single hotel on the way was 100% booked. We passed Copper Country Inn and decided to call and see if they had an open room and they did! They literally saved us and we were so grateful to stay there. The price was insanely inexpensive, it's close to the bridge and plenty of good places to eat nearby. While it may be a little outdated, it was so charming and it was EXTREMELY clean! I spoke with one of the owners on my way out and she was so kind and genuinely cared that we enjoyed our stay. She was open to suggestions as her and her husband are new owners and said they were wanting to do a few updates. It's a family run business and will only get better in time. A cute inn beats a big hotel in my opinion especially when you go to the UP for its character and charm. I would 100% stay here again! read more

Our two queen bed room is nicely furnished with nice furniture and nice sheets. There is no in room coffee or tea but that's not a necessity. It has an ok bathroom with a small sink. It is definitely worth your money though. read more

This is a great mom and pop motel. Keep the mind it is a motel and not hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a great rate. The staff (Louis) was super nice. I would highly recommend. read more
