Drove up to Shuswap for work and was looking for lunch. This place was out of the way but based on the other 5 star review we though we'd give it a try. It's clearly a family run joint. The young daughter of the owners sat us and was the only person we saw in the restaurant.
I can honestly say this was the worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant. The prices were high and the food disgusting. Even the beer didn't taste right. Like it was over carbonated and tasted more like it came from a seltzer bottle. It was a Richards red and it's not nearly my first time with one. We ordered the nachos which were bad for a $15 appetizer. We counted 5 olive slices and 4 green peppers the rest was cheese and chips. Whatever, can look past that. The burgers is where it all went horribly wrong. My wife had the bacon cheeseburger which was gross. We decided to split our burgers and maybe each got through a few bites. The burger I ordered was a special kind of dog food for sure. Named after the restaurant, the copper island burger has a slab of fatty, salty sausage on top. We each took a bite and spat it out. Nasty!!
The bill for our 2 crap burgers, pathetic nachos and seltzer beers was $55. Not what I'd consider cheap considering I'm certain the near beef burgers are $10 for 15 at Costco.
This is my first ever review. This place was so bad that I drove 5 hours back to Vancouver, opened a Yelp account and wrote this review as I feel it to be my civic duty to warn the masses to avoid this restaurant. Even if your girlfriend does work here, it's late on a Saturday and you've been drinking all day long, it's not worth it. Go to a&w down the road. You'll thank me later. read more
