This place is horrible. Need to get their information they give to people correct. Or are being biased to us. We were trying to find a place for my little sister, and they told us multiple times over the phone they accepted our insurance, my sister went there 3 times, just to wait hours to be denied by a very rude woman who should not be working with people to begin with (even though her friend with the same exact insurance went and got in the first time) very frustrating when someone wants help and a place is okay with wasting peoples time and getting people's hopes up just to deny them. read more

The phone system is not working properly. A loved one was an inpatient and never got any of the messages. Discharge planning could have been better. All in all a good place. My loved one was treated well. The staff was super. The doctors were good. read more

I had a great experience with Copper springs. Everyone was great from the people up front to all the pcas and doctors. Te and Tyler were especially helpful and caring. They both talked me through some ruff times I was going through and I will be forever great full. It does take a long time to be admitted but that's because they take their time to get all the information necessary to tailor your treatment plan to your specific needs. My adult child had a terrible experience at this facility. Unfortunately, she has gone to many rehabilitation centers and detox units and this by far was the worse. They have an issue with drugs being brought into the facility where patients are selling to others. It was brought to a staff members attention and was told they thought they had this problem rectified. My child had a Vivitrol injection prior to be admitted which prevented her from getting high from any opioids. Had she not had this she would have bought and used while in an inpatient program. You think your loved ones are in a safe environment but are being exposed to drugs in the facility. They kept her longer than needed which prevented her from starting her rehab at a different facility. Please do your homework prior to choosing any facility. Would definitely NOT recommend this facility. read more

This place is a joke! I came here for an IOP assessment and they told me I needed inpatient and if I didn't stay they would petition the court and make me stay. I was so pissed. I decided to voluntarily check in, thinking I could voluntarily leave the next day. Nope! I signed the ama paperwork and they told me they would petition the court again. I have depression and anxiety, however, I am not a harm to anyone else or myself. The psychiatrist I saw was rude and demeaning. He switched my antidepressant and called my psychiatrist stupid. He put me on all kinds of sleep medication even though I told him I didn't want that specific one. They changed my migraine medication, despite years of going to a neurologist and finally finding the dosages. While I was there, a nurse gave two patients Subutex and methadone on the same day. My understanding is that you have to wait an extended amount of time between the two. Both patients were extremely sick for about four days. Another patients phone wasn't put away properly after they turned it in and it was picked up by another patient. Court documents were erased off the phone and copper springs basically told the owner of the phone "oh well". This place may be good for detox, but for mental health there are far better places. I believe I was the only mental health patient there. The staff wasn't terrible but they definitely lack control over the unit. The food is absolutely atrocious. Only go here as an absolute last resort! read more

I want to know the secret to get into this place once they give you a fake appointment (that you will wait for anywhere from 2 to 6 hours after the appointment time to be seen), give you an assessment and then tell you they have no openings- that you need to make another appointment or you can come in as a walk-in. I have been through this bullshit with a family member several times and the process is a joke. I am an R.N. with a B.A. in psychology and I have never seen such poor treatment of potential patients. I totally understand what can be the flakey nature of addicts but that should not mean that they consistently play toxic games with peoples lives. These people are there for help and it takes a lot of patience and game playing to get into this place. Once you get in it from all accounts it is a somewhat good place but their admission process is completely horrible. 4 times trying to get admitted in the past 2 weeks and still "no room"...........sounds like a crock of shit to me. read more

THEY WILL KIDNAP YOUR LOVED ONES. DO NOT GO HERE. They will only makes things worse. All they care about is money. My sister was struggling with depression and was advised to seek help at Hospital from her doctor. We brought her here, they took all our possessions and locked them away while we waited for hours. Finally after being ignored for so long we decided to leave to seek help else where. They told us we couldn't go. My sister wrote down that she had thought about hurting her self on the inpatient form and once you do that you basically lose all your rights. They called the cops on us when we tried to leave and forced us out while they took my sister against her will. We are still fighting to get her out and of course all of this is only making things worse. I am literally sick to my stomach knowing that is legal kidnapping and there is nothing you can do. For you or your loved ones own well being please do not go here what ever you do. read more

Then I asked why is she being rude then she said "I'm not being rude but if you can't afford $1000 a day there's community bridges." My fiancé went to Copper Springs last week. She was put on multiple meds (10 or more) and when she asked to be released after 5 days they made her stay an additional day. They gave her a bus pass and told her the bus stop was across the street. So while she's struggling with a suitcase and multiple plastic bags in the rain she winds up losing her meds. She went all weekend with no meds and started having withdrawals and wound up having to go to the emergency room Tuesday. The ER Doctor needed to know what meds she had been on so I called Copper Springs three times and everyone kept transferring me to Records. Nobody was working/answering the phone. Copper Springs Avondale AZ: I spoke with the front desk on Saturday and said I wanted to go home, they said wait until tomorrow and speak with your doctor, my doctor wasn't there on Sunday so I was told he couldn't sign me out, he wasn't my doctor and couldn't sign me out; wait until tomorrow. On Monday I saw a doctor and was told he couldn't sign me out, he wasn't my doctor. I called my insurance company and told them I was being held against my will, my patience's rights were being violated. This Copper Springs said if I signed myself out they would put a hold on me for 24 hours. After I told them I was filing a grievance, they finally got my discharge forms together, and after my insurance company called and spoke to them. I don't think they wanted to go against me or my insurance at that time. What my insurance company told me that, if I sign myself in I can sign sign myself out. read more

I recently had an 8 day stay at Copper Springs for mental health reasons. The facility is clean and nice, and the staff is 90% extremely friendly. Dr. Amani was my psychiatrist, and he is absolutely incredible. The nurse Maria is also great, look out for her! The food was decent in taste, but it was not very healthy, which was frustrating. You get to go for an outside break every 3 hours or so and are allowed to smoke and keep your phone as long as it doesn't have any cracks. I was only inpatient with one other person who was there strictly for mental health; almost everyone there was there for substance abuse, which made it difficult to relate sometimes. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience and I would recommend Copper Springs to anyone looking to go inpatient. read more

They misrepresented their admission policies on their web site. My insurer is united healthcare, and my son was pre approved prior to our arrival to the hospital with the insurance stating that it was in network. Upon arrival to the facility, my son was taken to intake and never asked about his depression or anxiety problems . The RN and financial person stated that only Medicare patients were excepted my only option was to give them a down payment of 5,000 dollars with a daily charge of 1300 dollars a day. As a healthcare provider myself, I was very dismayed to be receive a bait and switch response while trying to secure help for my addicted son. read more

I was a recent patient at Copper Springs. My stay was for 9 days in total. Being that this was my first time with in-patient care, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The food was okay but they cater to your needs so if you have different needs, they had food for you. The facility was well kept and the majority of staff was helpful and nice. I felt I could talk to them if I needed. We were also allowed to watch whatever we wanted and have frequent smoke breaks for those who needed to smoke or just wanted to go outside. However, there were some down sides to this place. The wait time to be evaluated, took them 4 hours to see me and that was just to see if I was able to get in or not. A few other patients told me they waited for over 6 hours. Also, on Saturday and Sunday, there was a lot of down time. No counseling groups, just therapy groups like art, music etc. Sure, family got to visit, but for those who didn't have family visit, there was too much time to let your mind wonder. I could go on for pages about the unethical practices that I encountered while I was at Copper Springs; a facility to support those in need of help. "We believe in constantly improving our services." Let us hope for the sake of others who are in a vulnerable place that Copper Springs is greatly improving their services. My experience at Copper Springs was traumatic and in the months to follow, my memories of Copper Springs continue to cause me anxiety. I researched the program before making an appointment to discuss the Intensive Outpatient Program. The question was not, do I go inpatient, it was, is this intensive outpatient right for me? After their evaluation they told me I needed to go inpatient. I disagreed and they threatened to petition the court to get me committed. I was terrified but felt like I had no options so I voluntarily signed myself in. My psychologist called on the 3rd day thinking there was no way I was still there because it would be unethical to keep me more than 72 hours. But I was still there it was not until the 3rd day they finally provided me with food conducive to my ulcerative colitis diet. During the 6 days they kept me, patients watched movies such as, the Purge in the common room. They even allowed the patients to rush through a process group to get back to see the end of the Purge. It is effective to recovery to let individuals with serious behavioral obstacles watch movies about being able to commit any crime for a designated time? The processing groups were very disorganized; 18 patients all trying to be heard. The only thing that I could count on for the 6 days at Copper Springs was the smoke breaks, and I don't smoke. I brought my complaints to Copper Springs, who claimed some of the problems I had faced had already been addressed by the facility. They attempted to rationalize many of their poor practices (such as allowing disturbing and violent movies to be played in the common room) by telling me that "even cartoons could be triggering." The things that went on in that facility are almost laughable. I said almost laughable because this business deals with a variety of individuals who are at their lowest. You should not leave a behavioral health hospital feeling worse. Nevertheless, I paid my $1288 bill and decided to speak up because businesses like Copper Springs offer a false hope to those who are asking for help. I would not recommend Copper Springs to anyone! There are far worse behavioral health sites. But just because there are worse examples it doesn't mean we should settle for less. It would be dangerous to normalize my experience there; unethical practices are not normal. A representative for Copper Springs said, "what is done is history; we can't go back." She is right there isn't anything to make that experience disappear. I have to deal with it and let it go to the best of my ability. Here is my advice to anyone reading this review and considering Copper Springs as a resource for recovery. * Look elsewhere. * Know your rights as a patient! If you have an SMI diagnosis there are rights out there to specifically protect you. * Advocate for yourself always. Advocate for yourself and others in the moment that something feels unethical. Keep advocating until someone listens. * Hope for positive change even in the smallest way. * Know you won't always be met with empathy but that is their ignorance. read more
