This is the worst banking institution I have ever done business with. I am in the process of trying to get my mom moved to a new state and they have made it about as difficult as you possibly can to get any information to assist her. The only way to get anything done with this bank is to go in and speak with a banker. If you contact them on the phone you will be on hold forever and then their verification system is absolutely stupid. I have been in finance for years and am well versed on verification and customer service. This bank is awful at both. Do your business elsewhere. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The membership process at Copper State Credit Union is an absolute nightmare. Their website does not let you complete an application. It only lets you request that someone contacts you. I never heard back. I tried calling several times and was stuck on what felt like permanent hold. After waiting so long that the system stopped playing hold music it asked for a callback number. I did not provide one because I wanted to stay in line and it just hung up on me. Over a week later I finally got a call. I missed it and the voicemail did not include a name or a direct extension. Just a generic callback number that is nearly impossible to get through on. I called again a few times and finally reached someone. They had no idea who I was or why I was calling. They said they would send a message to a senior representative and that I would get a call the next day. Still waiting. If this is how hard it is just to become a member I cannot imagine what the actual service is like. read more

I have had a savings account here for about a year, a car loan for about 5 years and just opened a checking account this morning. I have been so impressed with the service, perks given to members, and the friendly people I have met. Gloria Baca opened my account today and she was absolutely great. Copper State Credit union: I have been with this credit union throughout the name changes for the over 40 years. I have 2 major issues: My first issue is that my direct deposits did not follow the name and routing number changes. As a result the original routing number was not carried forward to the current. This caused a lack of deposits into my account. To correct this has been a huge pain and caused a 4 month delay of recovering deposits that could not be made via the original routing number and subsequent number change. My second issue is with viewing back history of accounts after their conversion to their new system. In the old system I could look at the past history for many months do a copy and paste for a detailed analysis. With the new system it will currently only allow view back to Feb. 2025. I was told that I could request an accounting going back further, however that would cost me $35 an hour for someone to do the research. In my opinion, with our current electronic age this is a bit ridiculous. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I left a review last December. I wanted to edit the review however it has been taken down. This is the WORST bank. It was once deer Valley credit Union in Deer. Valley was wonderful ever since Copper State took over that bank has been in decline. you can't ever get anybody on the phone they push you to use Penny their virtual assistant the only way I got a response last year was because I left my negative review then someone finally emailed me. We were supposed to have a resolution, however that manager quit replying to my emails. They are only available to help you during the most inconvenient hours. If you work job that you cannot leave to take care of things then good luck getting in touch with somebody. Their phone "services" are a joke since you can't talk to someone. For example, today my card has been frozen for the 8th time this year. I have to call them to resolve the issue. I had to leave a message what bank doesn't have someone available after 9 am - pacific time... Don't waste your time with copper state. read more

As a person who receives SSI, im disgusted at how bad this whole new banking is. I love the new app but my money isn't being automatically deposited in my account like it should be on the first of every month. Ever since last month, the huge upgrade it still messed up my bank account as I don't have the money in my account and got a bit of bills to pay, things to buy for my health. It's March 1st and still doing the same problem as last month. I might consider switching banks if this keeps happening. read more

My dad, also a State of AZ employee, had his account there for over 30 years before that (different name). I am unable to get any help whatsoever over the phone. Every time I need assistance I have to take off work and drive to a branch. And then if the manager is not available, I have to come back as the "tellers" have no way to do anything. I have been with this Credit Union since it was Deer Valley Credit Union. Always had good service until today. I had an appointment to see a financial advisor, Tony. I wanted some advise on what to do with a little bit of money I had. Tony said if I didn't know what I wanted he couldn't help me. I thought a financial advisor would give me advice. The reason I made the appointment in the first place was on the suggestion of one of the tellers. Tony made me feel like I wasn't worth bothering with. I will be looking to put my money elsewhere. I rarely will give someone a bad review. Everyone is entitled to a bad day. But this was truly insulting. read more

AS SOON AS I can I'm goin to the nearest branch and taking ALL my money out and closing this account. They have been "updating the system" since Friday. I can't pay my bills or feed my family. I was struggling enough already as it was. The fact the I have money in the bank to do what I need to do and can't access it is extremely mind-boggling to me. I was with DVCU since 1978 and didn't have too many problems until Copperstate took over. What bank shuts down at the beginning of the month to upgrade their system? Now I can't get into my account because I didn't get a member # which was supposed to be mailed out in January. Forget about calling. I don't have time to wait 45 min on hold so I am @#$% out of luck. Did anyone at the bank figure out all the problems this might cause before they shut down? This is horrible! Be wary banking here, they told us they were revamping the mobile banking app so we wouldn't have access to it but I called a branch and asked just to make sure that I wouldn't have any problems with my account and now I can't make any payments or transactions. I can't take money out of my account at all. As someone without a credit card or stockpile of cash this leaves me in a very vulnerable position. No notice was given for our cards being shutdown. The branch manager I spoke to told me she was told 20 minutes, it has now been over 5 hours. read more

I have to say that it's been about 20 years since I've felt truly welcomed from a financial institution! I opened an account yesterday with branch manager Christina. She was attentive to my needs, personal, and I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with her. She went above and beyond by notarizing a document, scanning and emailing it to me; saving me at least two additional steps and allowing me to get a head start on the rest of my day. At Chase, they would have charged me for this service and wouldn't have emailed it to me. I am looking forward in being a member of Copper State. If you want to ditch service fees and become a member of an institution that cares about the community, come here! read more

I have been banking with Deer Valley Credit Union for decades. When they merged to become Copper State Credit Union I had my reservations about it. I was pleasantly surprised at how seamless their transition was and impressed by all the new ATMs and branch locations that became available to me. i have been with Copper State Credit Union at least 40 years (yes, it was DVCU back then) they did my first home mortgage in the 80's, they did my son's first home purchase with me. now they are once again helping me with a mortgage for my new primary residence! But that is not the only thing they are doing for me. the tellers have always been wonderful and go out of their way. anthony took care of a wire transfer for me. everyone goes the extra mile. they get on the phone, find out FOR me, instead of me having to call multiple numbers and deal with the never ending robo systems. yea they use all the same technology as all the other financial institutions. but THE PEOPLE are MY PEOPLE. They are just so wonderful and competent. AND caring. i cant say enough. Go find out for yourself and tell them IRMA sent me! she brags about you so I am here to see for myself. are they perfect? probably not! But I don't even go elsewhere, I go there first. I qualify for VA loans, I qualify for military associates institutions. Copper State is my "go to". and the people at the teller stations are new/younger faces but the culture is the same as it has always been. i always leave with a smile on my face (no matter how small or large my reason is to go there) and I always thank my dad, who was working at Honeywell when the credit union was IN the building off I-17 which qualified me for membership. I have been with this credit union for 28 years. They are always courteous and friendly. everyone smiles, unlike some other banks. They are the only bank, we still have. We got fed up with other banks, that were caught opening accounts and others that played stupid games. I trust this bank. I have moved along as a customer from the inception of Deer Valley Credit Union over 40 yrs ago, thru mergers and board leadership changes to now...one star, in some areas, is too high. The problem is the Board's decision to outsource the technology to JK Henry/fintech along with any ownership of problem(s) and subsequent fixes. I am not a frequent user of this interface, however I selected an option that I discovered later is not available. (Why, pray tell, is it not only there,but allowed me to go thru the steps of the transaction?) In fairness the rep fixed it and made me whole again, but it took a phone call and a few hours of my time. Then, I get an alert of an address change! Another call (2 calls and wait time) only to find out it's not an address change at all..it's a hard-coded header. This has happened twice; the last "address change" was an arbitrary move on their part to place my landline # in as a cellphone # even though I corrected my profile. I've tried communicating this problem thru emails to get AI-sounding "sorry you feel that way" response. My suggestion to potential members? Go elsewhere. read more

Been with this Credit Union before it became Copperstate. Just recently I lost my debit card. It took about a month to get a new one. Because the address they sent it to was not complete. It was sent back. Now this year, there was fraud on our checking account and they refunded the charges, but felt free to withdraw the funds without notice to us, and now our checking account is in shambles. read more

This company isnt doing anything to help those that have not worked for weeks during the Corona Virus Lockdown. As a small business owner it would have been helpful to get 1 payment deferred, I was offered their skip a payment for a charge...which doesnt help. My other loan was very understanding and they deferred my payments for 2 months as did my mortgage company. I could understand if I was a new customer but I'm not. Completely disappointed in the lack of care. I asked for a call back and left a message but of course no call back. read more

I had the pleasure of being served and opening a new account at this branch today. Erika and Carol assisted me in opening a savings account, checking account and loan to satisfy my financial needs. Both individuals provided exemplary guest service, were very knowledgeable and extremely patient in answering all my questions. Erika took the time to teach me about the mobile app and the benefits of paperless statements. Carol took the time to explain the loan options and benefits of different options that were tailored to my needs. Clearly the leadership of this credit union understands the importance of a personal experience with its customers and that was felt from the time I entered the building.
