I was a member of Deer Valley Credit Union for over 30 years and loved this bank. They were easy to work with, knowledgeable, and I was on a first name basis with some of the employees who had been around for awhile. Now that they merged with Canyon State (and are turning into Copper State), the personable atmosphere is gone. When I dial the main number, I don't get the branch, anymore. And their call center people are not helpful. Their conversion of my home loan was a mess. Getting access to my account from their App was painful. I submitted a support question and received no response. It looks like the amount of money I can remotely deposit has been cut in half (and you can only deposit $2,500 in a 7 day timespan). Do they not want my money? And now they want to charge me to get paper statements. I will be closing my accounts next week. read more

Slowest employees I've ever run into. Sat behind one car in the drive through for 25 minutes, finally got to the machine and another 15min for the entire transaction. I was banking with Deer Valley Credit Union before the merge to Copper State. I will say that since the merge this bank has become nothing short of terrible! They may as well be Wells Fargo or BofA at this point not a personalized credit Union. They charge multiple overdraft fees for multiple attempts to get payments when the funds are not in there. This never used to happen and in fact we would get personalized calls when things came up. I am very disappointed and will not be banking with them any longer. read more

Everytime I go into this bank, everyone is so helpful, always! This time around, one of the employees really stood out to me. Jacob in particular, had helped me the second I walked in and was able to help me with all I needed all in the matter of seconds, and was able to make some amazing personal conversation with me! I love personable people, so he really stood out to me during this visit. He was very kind, friendly, and helpful! Just opened an account about 2 months ago. Tellers are nice, but the loan department takes days to return your call. I also left an online message inquiring about a credit card and never heard back. I've had to wait on hold about 10 or 15 minutes anytime I call with a question. Could be the holiday season but very frustrating when you have a question or are concerned about your account. The loan rep in the branch was talking very loud about my financial situation, too, which really was offputting and embarrassing. Just feels very impersonal here at times, overall. May find another bank. It is just a pain to switch everything over again. read more

This place is GARBAGE!!!. The Website is useless. If you pay an auto loan account using a checking outside of the credit union it can take up to 7 days for the payment to post. You can pay it a different way through the website but you need your member number... which can't be retrieved anywhere form the website once you login. I would rather have a higher interest rate at another bank that actually has services that work. Everything is done online now days. Having this system is ridiculous. Stay far Away!!! read more

When I decided to buy a new car, I knew that my first step was to get pre-approved for a loan. I scoured the Internet to find the bank or credit union that was offering the lowest rate. If you've recently purchased a car, then you'll know how terrible rates are right now. I visited Deer Valley Credit Union's web page and saw that they were offering rates as low as 5.5% (based on credit, term, LTV, etc...). Since that was the lowest rate I could find, I decided to submit an application. I drove up to the location off the I-17, and submitted an application with Jennifer. She was very friendly and made the process very easy. Unfortunately, because I arrived so near to closing, a decision wouldn't be available until the next business day. When the decision came back, I was told that while I had a great credit score, my history was a little light for their guidelines, so I would need a cosigner. Not a problem, I happen to have two parents with phenomenal credit, and a robust history to back it up. My Dad called Jennifer and submitted his information with my application. She soon called back to let us know that we had been approved, and would need to stop by the branch to sign off on the loan. Unfortunately, that same day, my Dad suffered a detached retina, and was scheduled for an immediate surgery. This clearly left him unable to visit the branch with me, anytime soon to sign paperwork. Shortly after, my Mom called Jennifer to replace my Dad on the application as my cosigner. She called back again to let us know that we had been approved, but since she was scheduled to leave early that day, we would have to close with someone else. I gave her our time frame, and she said she'd make sure to have the paperwork ready for us so that we would be in and out quickly. When we arrived at the branch, Jennifer unexpectedly greeted us in the lobby and told us that she had decided to stay late so she could make sure that everything was completed quickly and correctly. I was so impressed by her prompt service and attention to detail. She really made the whole application and closing process easy, and I'm so glad that I went to Deer Valley CU for my auto loan. Unfortunately, I can't vouch for any of the other employees or representatives (had minimal contact with anyone else); but if you're looking for financing, do yourself a favor and call Jennifer at Deer Valley. read more

Bad service. Tried to come pay my loan payment in person. Front desk people couldn't even tell me how to work the online system. Guy with the red hair in the front made me wait and helped some one else even though i walked in before that person. Getting registered on the app was very difficult also. This used to be a nice member based credit union until they decided to expand. With the expansion they completely lost touch with their members. I was a member for 35 years and literally ran hundreds of thousands of dollars in paychecks through this account as well as home loans and car loans and yet now they routinely hold deposits without telling you why, for no specified period of time, including even government issued checks. They force you to sign onto some disclaimer policy that is 20 pages of legal gobbledygook and unless you agree to it they lock you out of your accounts. They don't return phone calls or answer emails. I was turned down for an increase in my line of credit nexus was retiring and had no earned income and they would not even consider my substantial retirement income! I honestly can't think of a good thing to say about the place. Unfortunately because all my accounts are here including lines of credit and bill paying accounts and automatic deposits I'm sort of stuck. read more

WORST BANK EVER!!!! I have been with DVCU for about 20 years. Have been turned down for loans twice but my credit wasn't perfect. Now I have GREAT credit. I had a savings account there. They charged me $10 a month for inactivity & never sent me a statement or tried to call me till the end of the year. Cost me $30, they refused to refund, so I closed the account. read more

One of the worst banks i have an account with. Closed on weekends?! Like really people work Monday through Friday 9-5 just like them but can't be opened on weekends? At least have a Saturday open till like 1pm so the working class will be able to go to there banks on there days off 10 years with this bank to show me there's nothing convenience nor loyalty or respect for anyone that banks with them. Every time I would ask for updates and app problems I would get the run around and accused that it's me not them! What the heck?! I never ever leave reviews and this is the first one in my life because how fed up I am with a bank that can't hire people with customer service skills or just be of great service in general to the public. Super sweet people here. Always liked credit unions better than major banks because they make you feel more like you're part of the bank instead of just someone giving you money. Desiree helped me get a small loan out and made it super easy and painless. Also have my truck through them and they're so easy to work with. I've been with Bank of America for years and they wouldn't even talk to me about loans, only credit cards. I've been with DVCU Since January and they helped me easy peasy. I financed my Cadillac SRX through DVCU two years ago and the approval process went smooth and I enjoyed the car for over 60,000 miles during that time. A series of personal and professional setbacks this fall caused me to fall behind in payments and the staff there have been very, very understanding, worked with me over several months and really bent over backwards to try to accommodate my needs. I am currently climbing out of the financial hole I was in and will soon be back on track with my payments. I have never had any creditor treat me so well, with such compassion and understanding in my life and they have me as a customer for life! read more

No longer uses Sprig. That was a great app i used to use to transfer between shared branches. Now everytime i want to transfer, u have to call, verify, wait forever on hold, verify again, wait.... The main reason i joined was for Sprig. Dvcu is moving farther from whats good for their members to what is profitable. I can not wait to refinance my car loan. If you do not bank with this credit union it is now a nightmare to try and pay them. Since the conversion from Deer Valley, I have received notices to convert to paperless or else I'd be charged a monthly fee (I was paperless before the conversion), and now there is a fee to pay by phone of $15. So because someone had to answer the phone we have to pay extra when we are already paying interest? Before the conversion we could call into the branch on a Saturday (they used to be in on Saturday), because we all work Monday - Friday. Not everyone works bank hours though, and if you work a phone job yourself last thing you want to do is attempt to make another phone call with the 30 minutes you may have for lunch or after your work day since they close at 5pm. The online platform is also terrible now, and does not make sense. I have accounts at multiple banking institutions and this one is a joke. Want to make an online payment now? You have to register on a different website, and good luck finding your member ID that is not available anywhere in your account, and blocked off on your statements. When the conversion was made to the new bank, no new paperwork was sent. We got an email that looked like a regular customer service email which made it sound like the change would be better. Some of the things you should know about Deer Valley Credit Union... 1.According to the Better Business Bureau as of Nov 2010, Deer Valley Credit Union is not a BBB Accredited Business. It appears since they are (surprisingly) not a BBB member filing a complaint would be less likely to have impact. 2.DVCU will in all likelihood quickly confiscate the money in your DVCU checking and/or savings account (without notice) to go toward a past due payment, if you are behind, allegedly regardless of the past due status and amount due. How do I know this? They did it to me in early 2010. By DVCU taking your funds it can cause serious problems for you as far as any checks you earlier wrote bouncing. My advice to you is if you anticipate being late with your DVCU.ORG payment you should first clean-out all funds from your bank accounts (or close the accounts). 3.DVCU will debit comparatively insignificant amounts of funds, i.e. less than $30 from a credit union deposit account to go toward a past due large payment of say $1,200. The sad thing about Deer Valley Credit Union forcefully taking money out of your checking account is by taking even a very small amount of money it can easily cause you much embarrassment and fees as far as potential bounced checks are concerned. For, example, when DVCU debited my account for under $30 it resulted in two overdrafts of checks written before DVCU's notification was received in the mail. Plus, I was charged 3 overdraft fees (including a double fee for one OD) of over $100 total, not to mention the headaches involved. 4.Most buyers and their Realtor will ask for a short-sale letter as confirmation the 2nd mortgage holder will accept less than the balance due. The reason a short-sale-letter is so important is not getting one can result in a close of escrow walk-away if there's nothing in writing regarding their willingness to take a settlement of the debt. What if at your closing DVCU announces they will not accept the previously verbally agreed amount (for whatever reason) to release their lien? Of course your buyer will quickly walk away from the closing if they are unable to get clear title. Don't expect to get a short sale letter from Deer Valley, they sure were reluctant to issue the letter regarding my sales which all fell through, allegedly because of the reluctance to issue short sale letters! read more

The employees get to know you and seem genuinely interested in your life. They treat you like family! They have an old school customer first mentality coupled with a new school professionalism. Steer clear from this banking institution, it's more like a mental institution! The tellers and customer reps that answer the phones are as ignorant as they get! It's all a trickle down effect from the Chief Executive Officer "Robb Scott". Robb's self centered, arrogant attitude only continues to put icing on the cake. They closed one of my accounts because of inactivity, however, the "only" reason this account was open in the first place was so that I would be able to umbrella my accounts and work/transfer with one sign on. This is necessary for 90% of families that have multiple accounts such as small business, teenagers accounts, joint spouse accounts, etc. This institution not only closed the account which prevented access from viewing/working within the accounts simultaneously; they never notified me prior to closing the account that they would be closing it! It's definitely time to move on, they are promoting a new app program called "BaZing" just another inconvenience of marketing solicitation you will have to deal with! read more
