By far the best dental clinic I've ever been to. The receptionist was very nice and professional…read more She greeted me right away once I walked in. She also gave me forms to complete as I was a new patient. The look of the clinic itself is new, modern, clean, and comfortable. There are lots of entertainment options for you in the lounging area while you wait for your turn. As I was seated, the dental assistant asked me what my area of concern was - and it was for my filling. Dr. Wong asked me general questions and concerns with my teeth and then evaluated my teeth and other areas i.e. my jaw, temple, neck. During my procedure, I was able to watch Netflix...yay! My procedure went well and I knew he did a great job. I always felt uncomfortable when I step into a dental clinic as I have this feeling like my teeth will get "butchered". I have always had bad experiences because after my procedures with other dentists, I felt like the problem was not fixed. But not this time! Dr. Wong was gentle, reassuring, and efficient. You know he cares about his patients! I will for sure be back with other procedures. It's quite rare for me to recommend a dentist, but Dr. Wong and his team is honestly the best team that I have ever come accross. A 5/5 star clinic and I definitely recommend!

I am torn between writing a glowing review and suing Vitacare for malpractice…read more Last December, I broke one of my molars. Stress, moving, and other factors likely contributed to the fracture, but that is a story for another time. I searched for "dentist near me" because my regular dentist, the perpetually unavailable and in-demand Dr. Gee in Yaletown, was booked solid. I found Vitacare, with 5-star reviews on Yelp and Google; what could possibly go wrong? I booked the earliest available appointment and went in. A dentist named Dr. Oh saw me. After a brief consultation and some X-rays, he recommended a root canal and crown not only for the fractured tooth, but also for the neighboring one. Both procedures are expensive--around $4,000 per tooth in 2026--and my Canada Life dental coverage caps annual benefits at $2,100. In other words, roughly $8,000 of work was unlikely to be fully covered. The whole situation reminded me of a time I took my brand-new Audi to a brake shop and was told I needed not only new pads, but also rotors--conveniently "refurbished and on discount." Unsure whether a root canal was truly necessary, I tried to book an appointment with Dr. Gee, but of course he was unavailable. After doing some research (including consulting AI), it was still unclear whether a root canal was absolutely indicated. However, the exposed nerve and persistent pain were not relenting. Canada Life approved coverage for only one root canal--about $2,000--so I decided to bite the bullet and proceed with that single root canal. Sometimes imagining the worst-case scenario makes reality feel less intimidating. As I sat in the chair while the nurse prepped for the procedure, I jokingly asked whether she and Dr. Oh had done this before. She said yes, and I thought to myself, "Good, maybe I won't die today." After hours of drilling and grinding, I was getting exhausted. The appointment was booked for two hours, but it felt much longer. Eventually, the overhead monitor that had been playing Netflix timed out, and the screensaver appeared: 3:12 p.m. The procedure had been going on for over three hours. At that point, Dr. Oh sighed and said, "I'm going to refer you to a specialist. I can't get this done. I can't reach the full depth of the tooth to remove what needs to be extracted." He then placed a temporary filling. When the nurse removed the rubber dam and other equipment, I asked how much this session would cost. Dr. Oh said around $500 and mentioned that the specialist he was referring me to was "very good, but also his rate is much higher." My immediate thought was, "Why didn't you tell me this earlier?" To make matters worse, the nurse added, "We're only GPs" (general practitioners). It was a lot of crucial information delivered at a very poor time. The plan was for the temporary filling to last a few weeks to a few months until I could see the specialist. I explained to Dr. Oh that Canada Life was unlikely to approve more work this year beyond the $2,100 already used, especially since this visit alone cost about $500. I asked if he could place a permanent filling instead, as I probably wouldn't be able to afford a specialist this calendar year. He replied that they did not have enough time that day. I did not argue, because I honestly felt both Dr. Oh and the nurse, Natalie, had worked extremely hard. During the procedure, Dr. Oh often hesitated over which instruments or tools to use, but he drilled tirelessly at the tooth even when the anesthetics began to wear off. His hands were very steady, and he did not seem careless or incompetent. My impression was that he might be an ultra-perfectionist who refuses to stop at 90%. Based on the post-op X-rays, I could not see any remaining decay, though I am not an expert. I reiterated to Dr. Oh that it was unlikely I would see the specialist this year due to insurance limits and asked how much a permanent filling would cost. He said $500. I decided to book another appointment to have the temporary filling drilled out and replaced with a permanent one--for now. Hindsight is 20/20. If Vitacare was not confident about performing the root canal, they should have referred me immediately to a specialist, instead of putting me through a difficult, incomplete procedure that consumed nearly half of my Canada Life annual dental maximum. Alternatively, I should not have been charged for a procedure that Vitacare "failed" to complete. Initially, I was genuinely impressed by the effort and care shown by Dr. Oh and Nurse Natalie, but this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Now I have to see a specialist and possibly redo the root canal all over again.

We love her, she's the best! Michelle, who is the front desk associate, is always friendly and welcoming. She keeps exemplary records on all of her patients and is very helpful. If she needs to contact Blue Cross or another carrier in order to check on the patient's plan, she never says 'you have to do it'; she gets on the phone and in a flash, she has the information we are looking for. I know Dr. Thorpe has a couple of dental hygienists and chairside assistants; however, I only have experience with Erin. No lie - she is the best dental hygienist in the business. I am a very nervous patient, even during cleaning, and Erin has a way to calm you down. She never causes pain or discomfort and before you know it, you are finished and my teeth are super clean and bright. She's really lovely! I hope she never leaves Dr. Thorpe's practice. Chelsey and Betty, who are chairside assistants, are very sweet and really care about how you are doing. Dr. Thorpe must handpick her staff for their personalities and easy-going manners as well as their expertise. All in all, a very happy place to be if you are in a dental chair. The calming energy is abundant as well as the respect shown to each staff member and the patients. Many, many thanks Dr. Thorpe to you and your wonderful staff!

Dental implant specialists. First time patient…read more Had a quote from another Dr total over $7500. Way too much. Referred to Greenline $3700. Uber pros. Appointment at 930. Froze me,x-rays,tooth root extraction came out fast and intact, placed implant, more x-rays,installed bone graft and sewed me up. No pain, from start to finish 40 minutes. Wow, so happy. Dr Shirbani is a an Uber pro at this, their staff so great. Once I get my new implant tooth in Jan 2023 I have enough $$ to get a 40 year old crown replaced next to my new implant. So 2 new front teeth for alot less than my original quote of $7500. So happy. 10 stars

I normally don't post negative reviews, but I feel like I should warn people about this dental…read morepractice. For years I regularly visited a dentist in Vancouver because it was close to my office. However, I live in Coquitlam and when I was on maternity leave I didn't want to drive that far just to see the dentist, so I decided to go to Greenline Dental instead. I take very good care of my teeth and have only had a couple of cavities in my lifetime. But during my first (and definitely my only) visit here, the doctor said I had THREE cavities that needed to be filled. Not surprisingly, I was skeptical. So I went to my regular dentist for a second opinion (thankfully it was covered by my medical plan and didn't cost me anything) and she said I had ZERO cavities. Thank goodness I double checked and didn't let this dentist put three extra holes in my mouth! Another thing that made me suspicious during my visit to Greenline was that the dentist recommended I get Invisalign braces, something that had never ever been suggested to me before. And she pointed out there's an orthodontist next door who specializes in Invisalign. How convenient! I would not be at all surprised if Greenline gets some kind of kickback for every patient they send over. The staff at Greenline were very friendly, and if the dentist had told me I had just one cavity I probably would have believed her and remained a patient there. But she pushed her luck by telling me I needed three fillings AND braces. I almost didn't get a second opinion, but I am so glad I did. And I hope that any other patients who aren't sure about their "diagnosis" read this and get a second opinion too.
