Giving an extra star because I had a very good experience here a few months back. I called for an appointment and had to wait 3 weeks to get in. An hour and a half before my appointment time, I got a call telling me my stylist wouldn't be able to see me because she had to leave early "because life." Direct quote. I was offered a reschedule that wouldn't be possible because of work, and was told that I would get a call back with more info. That was two days ago, still no follow-up call. I'm extremely disappointed. I made an appointment with another place and got a poor haircut, which is obviously not the fault of this salon, but it's salting the wound. If I'd known my appointment would fall through, I could've gotten a haircut 3 weeks ago when I needed it, or been searching and booked at a better place by now! I understand things happen and it's not my business, and I hate to pry into anyone's personal matters, but OTOH, when I've waited 3 weeks to get a cut here and I'm given no REAL REASON why my appointment is being cancelled, that's extremely unprofessional and downright ridiculous! I've still received no communication from the salon, and my stylist didn't communicate directly with me. Very, very unhappy, because who likes searching for a good salon and risking a bad cut? But why would I book again and risk waiting weeks to end up with no appointment? Unfortunately, I will not be booking here again after this unprofessionalism. read more

It was a great experience getting my hair done at Colorific with Julie! I LOVE my hair and the service I received!! I'm very nervous and anxious when it comes to beauty, especially my hair! After trying different hair salons in town, I was not very satisfied with any hair stylist's vision for my hair...then I found Julie on Instagram! I love her work and started talking with her. She was very patient and accommodating throughout the communications. At the appointment day, she took the time to get to know me, and work on my hair strand by strand! I had professional dyed light brown hair and she took the time to work on it to make it a beautiful BALAYAGE dark brown. I LOVE it! Also, she is so talented at curling and styling! I'd totally come back for my future hair needs. Although the price is definitely not on the cheap end, and the price on their website is just a start-up, not accurate. All three times I've been super happy, and with a pixie haircut it's always been a bit of a coin toss with other salons. The ladies here are Great and know what they are doing. I've been seeing Amanda for the better part of a decade now starting back when the salon was still Colorific. I had gone to her because I really wanted purple hair nervous after having bad experiences at other salons who promised they could do vivid colors. She crushed it and I've been seeing her since. The atmosphere is so chill and I trust Amanda so much half the time I let her do whatever she feels like doing to my hair because I know it's going to be amazing. As an ex employee of Colorific, I am beyond excited for the new ownership. Amanda and Denise have both worked there for years, knowing the ins and outs of the company. They knew the things that were not working and I truly believe they have already made great changes. They offer in house continuing education for all of their stylists to stay on top of industry trends and sanitation guidelines. I give them major props for taking on this giant venture- especially during a global pandemic! They take everyone's health and safety very seriously and are taking all precautions to continue serving their clients. I have since moved to California, but come home every few months and Cora & Co. I took my 88 yr old mother there to get the works, highlight and cut & style--I specifically told her and showed her a picture of the color and the style and she said right away she could do that. We were there for 3 1/2 hours from start to finish. I didn't understand and why in the world she was still in that chair for so long. It wasn't the right color that she wanted & it wasn't the right style at all she wanted. It was very expensive for the services she got! Especially being there that long...We were very disappointed as this was not the first time we had gone to that salon. read more

BEST COLOR & CUT EVER I was so impressed with Olivia! I went in on a Friday night weary about trying a new stylist. I knew I wanted an updated cut and color but was unsure what the final result would be. I showed her a ton of photo ideas I liked and she NAILED IT (and I'm picky!). I've never had a stylist care more about ensuring I left happy. Unfortunately for myself I never like to say anything negative to someone's face but I am super disappointed in my cut today. I came in with an appointment and was told this was her favorite haircut to do so I was optimistic. I showed her photos and shared what I didn't want to happen to my hair from a previous experience at another salon and the same exact thing happened again. I received a coupon at the ISU Festival and decided to give this place a try - even though the reviews are a bit uneven. I saw Katie. I wanted a cut and color and really only had a kind of vague idea of what I wanted. Katie is a relatively new stylist, but I was really impressed. First, I love my new color and style! Also, she spent time to understand what I wanted, she checked with other stylists when she was unsure (and the other stylists were very helpful), and she was a lot of fun to talk to. I was really hoping I'd be able to give a better review but I just can't. First off I must say my stylist was great. I was a little nervous at first but he pulled it off. He was so attentive and so nice. BUT when it comes to the 7 other women working that day....awful. No one knew how to smile. Just walked around with HORRIBLE attitudes. I am extremely unimpressed... first they scheduled me for just a consultation when I had asked for a cut and color so I only got the cut. The cut left a lot of dead ends and doesn't appear to be even in places VERY RUSHED. But I did schedule to have my hair dyed the next week the same day at the same time. Went in today for that dye and the person I had the appointment wasn't even working today nor was there any appointment for me scheduled at all... again extremely frustrated and was only asked if I wanted to schedule a different time Nothing to try and correct the mistake. My entire experience with this company has been nothing but positive. I was not an appointment, but rather I called ahead. I spoke to a stylist who got me in that day. The hairdresser who did my hair was quiet, but gave me the exact haircut I requested! She offered to dry, but I declined.once dry I was absolutely elated to see the hair cut. Her work was spot on and I do regret not having her dry it because it's always nice to see your work. Hope she stays with salon. I had one of the worst experience's at a salon that I have ever had ! My appointment was at 8:30 8/16/2018. I don't know who it was with because they never introduced themselves to me. She asked what I wanted to do and I showed her a couple of pictures and she said well you already have that cut its all about styling. So I said ok just trim it. She didn't offer to show me how to style it or tell me what products would be best. I also had my eyebrows waxed which turned out fine. But the customer service experience was horrible, I left covered in hair she did blow it off me or offer to rinse me out , didn't even asked if I wanted my hair washed before she cut it. I had been to Colorific in the past for a color job that didn't go as planned so I was a little hesitant to come back for a hair trim. I saw Alli and she was very attentive to my concerns and wants. I was in desperate need of a cut yesterday and wanted to try a balayage look, too. I had driven past colorific tons of times going to Target, so I decided to stop in to see if they had any openings. They got me in just a few hours later. The balayage process is pretty lengthy the first time you do it, but my stylist Emma was super energetic and friendly the whole time, even though I know it must have been a long day for her. She was both friendly and an excellent stylist, fully talking through what I wanted and explaining the prices to me before beginning. She even cut my split ends off using the same technique that my hometown stylist did growing up and that no stylist since has done for me (you essentially cut up the hair shaft parallel to the hair to get split ends higher up, but most stylists don't know how to do this). I was so impressed! My color and cut turned out great, and since I did decide to do the extra charge to have her style my hair for me (not much! Just $10 and they are thorough), she made sure to fully talk me through her technique so that I can curl my hair in the same way back home. I had such a great experience and have already received tons of compliments on my hair. I will 100% be going back and am looking forward to having Emma as my local stylist since I'm new to the area. I was a walk in and the lady at the front said they could do it in 15 minutes and gave me the price, which I was happy with. Then when I checked out the price was more than I was originally told and I explained I was told a lower price right before. Her response was "Well I'm the manager of the store and that's the price". It was very rude and frankly I don't care what your title is at Colorific. Not good customer service at all and very snobby. The end product was not that great either. read more

My color turned out okay. My hair cut is awful. Maybe because I had a junior stylist. I asked for an angled look so that the hair coming towards the front is longer. The stylist cut off quite a bit in back and then sharply angled to the front. From the back it looks like a 5 year old got a hold of the scissors and cut a chunk out of the back of my hair! My coworkers even said what was wrong with my hair?! I went there for the price and now I know better. If I come back, it would be for color only. read more

I was VERY apprehensive about going here after reading the reviews from patrons from other colorifics but, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. My stylist, Kayla, was attentive, helpful and made sure we were on the same page for giving me the color and cut I wanted. I wanted to go from a dull brown to a rich dark brown and wanted to maintain length but get some layers to not weigh down my hair. For all of you women out there that are looking for a senior stylist at Colorific... do not accept a stylist named Tracy Stanfield. She was terrible at the color she put on my hair and I have never experienced such a terrible trip to Colorific in my life. I have been to Colorific a handful of times in Bloomington-Normal. I go there because of how they used to treat me and make me feel comfortable in my shoes, at a lower price. I called an made an appointment with a senior stylist because I have had successful visits in the past. However, when i walked in, everyone was staring at me, and my stylist didn't come and get me for 20 minutes after my appointment time. once I was called and brought back to my chair, the stylist began to judge me. I asked for something different and a bit darker like my roots for the fall/winter months. She acted like I was talking in tongues. I chose a medium blonde, she said she wasn't even going to show me any other colors because she "Didn't think I should". So I chose a mix of medium and dark blonde. She finished showing me colors, and walked around the corner and I could see her speaking to a co-worker in the mirror, once she began talking to the co-worker she began pointing at me, and the co-worker looked at me and saw i was watching them, and she immediately turned her head back around. That same co-worker continued to walk around me looking at my hair. I have never felt so humiliated and self-conscious in my life. All i wanted was a simple color and to have 2 hours of peace to myself. As a full-time, single mother, full-time student, and full-time teacher, I just wanted to pamper my self. However, I felt like I was going to stand up and just take the apron off, and walk out. I was so upset. I wanted to ask her what was so interesting about me that she needed to converse with a co-worker. As soon as the stylist came back, she made small talk by talking down to me and in so much attitude. Now to get to the color of my hair. You would think the roots would be darker since they were already so dark and that is where the color goes first. However it remained light, and the color was scattered throughout. I was told this would cost $38. After I got there, I was told it would be $58. Everyone at this store needs to be on the same page, and provide excellent customer service. I will not be returning to this location, and will be telling all my friends about this experience. I have spoken with people from the BBB, because I read some reviews on here, and it sounds like the manager doesn't own up to the behavior that is associated with her stylist. read more
