I was a customer of Gallery Drug for 49 years. They were bought out by Corby Drug and relocated to the Corby store on 1st Ave off Sutton Place. Stopped in today to fill a prescription. The gal at the counter was rude and used vulgar language. On top of not being terribly knowledgeable. Will never patronize the store again. Will take my business elsewhere. Was never the case at Gallery. The staff at Gallery Drug wonderful. read more

I've used Corby for 10 years, and they used to be great. Since 2021, though, service and customer treatment has gone downhill. The pharmacist is rude, condescending, and not helpful. In August, he refused to try more than two coupon codes for a prescription and then just walked away from me. So I went to another pharmacy. I called at 5:15pm to make sure they were open until 6pm so I could pick up a prescription. I went at 5:47pm and the store was completely dark, closed, and the front gate was down. When the pharmacist called at 10:15am the next morning to tell me the scrip was ready, I told him I'd gone to Walgreens because they were closed the night before. No apology, no explanation. Just, 'so, you don't want the prescription?'. I'd love to keep supporting our local independent chemist. But not unless they get their act together. read more

please be careful. I trusted this pharmacy as I went through pain and being misdiagnosed. I had to go through intensive surgery. The pharmacy said they could fill my medicine when I called, they got the prescription. When I called to see if I could pick it up they told me to come in. Within a 30 minute time-frame, I was told not only could I not get this medication, but will not fill my other medications in the future, after I finally had my surgery!! No reason, they all just stared at me as I started sobbing. They said they are unable to retrieve the medicine in stock. PLEASE BE CAREFUL PUBLIC, do not have your medication cut because this can be dangerous to YOUR health and care. I never write a review unless positive but this I have to put out there. read more

Corby absorbed Gallery Drugs. Gallery Drugs was great. They closed and were acquired by Corby. As a fan and longtime customer of Gallery, I tried Corby. My experience was not good. Now all the Gallery pharmacists but one have left, and I say bye-bye. read more

You can't ask for more_ Corby has been in the area for at least 30 years. The team of chemists and staff work so hard to get the medications you need and to keep them in stock they advocate with for you or give advice as to how to talk to insurance. East siders rejoice! A pharmacy is still alive on 1st ave. Not a pharmacy counter at a chain drug store that couldn't care less about you if they tried-- a real, friendly, neighborhood pharmacy. Still distraught about my move away from Esco, I walked into Corby with low expectations. I figured it'd be back to people who don't speak English, who take 3 hours to fill a prescription and then can't find it/haven't filled it and you end up waiting a half hour anyway. As a new customer, with a new prescription, I waited about 5 minutes. The store was totally empty but there were at least 4 employees, who were all smiling and friendly. When there was a slight issue with the prescription, the technician actually came out from behind that giant wall and explained the situation, and a minute later I walked out happily. The actual drug store part is very limited, and carries about 40% baby products, 20% overpriced combs, brushes, tweezers, and hair clips, 10% candies for old ladies, and 30% toothpastes and lotions. Prices are slightly above average, as expected. I still have no idea why people take their prescriptions to Walgreens and Duane Reade when places like this exist. Don't let Corby go out of business, please! read more

I cannot believe how dreadfully I was treated. My father told me he stopped using this place (which is a block from where he lives) after the new pharmacist was rude to him. My experience was so bad, and they filled my prescription wrong, charged me for 2 months, when only filling one and told me to go to CVS! How can I get CVS to give me what he already charged me for? He is so rude I showed him the bottle and he became more furious. Im not sure what he's on but I think it's not safe to use this store. read more

Real old fashioned pharmacy, they are really helpful and do their best for you. They deliver, they call the docs and they are very polite. Light years better than those rude idiots at Duane Reade . I would only use Corby Chemists. read more

Be very careful with this pharmacy, in my opinion they are unethical. I was overcharged for my prescriptions for an extended period of time before realizing they were charging my credit card the full price of the medicine, and not just the copay amount. They are not an approved pharmacy under our insurance plan, but incredibly they never alerted us and just went ahead and charged the full price of the medicine. When I complained, they told me they collected insurance. Of course, that was not true as verified by my insurance company. Too bad, my mistake for not being more careful. The previous owner of Corby was there for many years and nothing like this ever happened before in all the years we went there for prescriptions. read more

Used them for 25 years. They are fabulous. Nice people. They deliver very quickly (and often). They will call my doctors automatically when a prescription expires. Couldn't say enough nice things about them. And, of course, if you have insurance, their co-pay is the same as anyone else. Why go to a big chain when they are a real neighborhood pharmacy. read more

I have been a lon-time customer of that pharmacy, for the reason that I try to support neighborhood businesses rather than chain drugstore. However, I discovered that they were grossly overcharging, to the tune of multiplying by more than seven the price of some items. Example: a small bottle of amonium lactate (8 oz) priced at $ 70 and available elsewhere for $9, or a cream prescribed by my determatologist, whic she could supply for $50, but for which Corby was charging $101. I raised the issue with the manager, who replied "I don'know about that"! That place is rub by crooks. read more
