This is my Review on Core Combat Sports. It is my opinion and experience about Core Combat Sports. I'm not a professional reviewer, martial artist, or businessman. ***Level of Training in Jiu Jitsu: (3 out of 5) The level of training I received at Core was I believe the experience of the Head Coach Tommy Woodruff was up to par enough to be coaching. The way he showed his techniques were very easy to learn and very effective. However, this was when he actually taught the class.. Over the last 4-5 months of my training there, he was hit or miss with the basic fundamental classes. He either sat in his office and talked to potential or current students or he wasn't there.. Which wasn't the problem. The problem was that he had others teach the class and in my opinion, they weren't qualified to teach such a high standard Tommy Woodruff teaches. So my experience dropped quickly. In those months I learned more from the student body then an actual Coach. Some classes were just guessing games on how to do a technique. I even did a technique wrong in front of one of the coaches on purpose, and he never corrected me. Tommy Woodruff should be the only one teaching Jiu Jitsu at Core Combat Sports. ***Level of Training in Muay Thai: (5 out of 5) Even though Muay Thai wasn't my cup of tea, When I participated in the classes, I was pushed to my limit every time I was there. Coach Darby and Coach Tom are very experienced and when they seen something wrong, they fixed it. There was no disappointment with this class at all! You went to learn and get a workout, that is exactly what you got. ***Level of Professionalism: (2 out of 5) When I sat down with Coach Tommy Woodruff to discuss my first Jiu Jitsu tournament he assured me he would work with me in the intermediate classes to get me ready for the tournament. However that quickly soiled. In the next 3 classes he only worked with the fighter who had an upcoming fight. He completely blew me off and worked with only the fighter when we should have been both, working together. ***Experience at Core: (2 out of 5) I say the best experience I had was the student body. They are a great group of students to train with and hang around with. They aren't afraid to help you out with anything. I believe everybody should get what they paid for. I'm not entirely sold that I spent my money in the right place. ***Business side of things: (1 out of 5) To train at Core, you have to sign a contract. When you sign this contract you are legally locked in. Cool.. However, you had to request a copy of it. You should never have to ask for a copy of a legal binding contract. It should be automatically copied and given to you when signed. They were also not kept at the office. They were kept else where so he had to bring it some other time. I stopped training at Core around October 2013 after around a year and a half. After being gone, I have realized that 3 other people had left for the same exact reason I did.
