Our first meeting with Jon was on March 28, we signed on March 30, the system was installed on April 27, the meter collar was installed on May 13, and we received Permission to Operate about a week later. Jon also helped us identify and secure available rebates. I would also like to thank Tara in the office. When I needed copies of my contract documents, she provided them promptly and without hesitation. Another positive observation is that the owner, Oz, appears to be actively involved with the company and personally responds to customer reviews. I noticed this during my initial research and felt it reflected a company that values customer feedback and satisfaction. At the time of this review, SunMade Solar Energy held an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Based on my experience, they delivered competitive pricing, excellent communication, professional workmanship, and outstanding customer service. After all of that, I narrowed it down to two companies, Nova Energy and another local company in Fresno.Ultimately, I chose the other company because they hold a roofing license as well. This was very important to me due to a previous bad experience with SolarCity damaging my roof and not fixing it. I ended up fixing it out of pocket. That being said, Nova Energy truly stood out. Justin took the time to thoroughly educate me and presented a very well-designed system tailored to my needs. Honestly, I would have gone with them if it weren't for my prior experience and specific concerns. What impressed me most is that they genuinely care about their customers. Even knowing I was comparing multiple companies, they were patient, transparent, and focused on making sure I understood exactly what I needed for my home. Even after I told Justin I had decided to go with another company, he still took the time to make sure I was fully informed. He reviewed key details with me such as solar panel quality, system performance stats, degradation rates, and the difference between kW and kWh, just to ensure I was making the best decision for my home. That level of professionalism and integrity really stood out. In today's world, many companies treat business as just a transaction, sell a product and move on. Nova Energy is different. They take the time to understand your needs, educate you, and guide you without pressure. Their approach is honest, professional, and customer centered. Garrett came to the initial visit with the owner, Chris. The sales pitch was no pressure, and they gave me the best deal. Garrett was always available for any questions. The workers and technicians were always on time for the appointment. Before contacting them, I dealt with Tesla and Sunrun. Neither was responsive and sometimes didn't show up within the 4-hour appointment window. Thus, I ended up canceling with both companies before going with Solar Negotiators. After the system was done, Zach, one of the technicians, came by to match the paint of my house and painted the exterior conduit to match my house color. I could go on for pages about my great experience. Unfortunately, these days, it is rare to receive the stellar service and product Solar Negotiators provides. The system is amazing and was exactly the right size for my needs.

It has now been 1 year and 7 months since my project started, and I still do not have Permission to Operate (PTO). I'm attaching a receipt showing when the project was initiated, as well as a photo of the solar panels installed on my roof, as evidence that this is a genuine review and not something made up. Things went somewhat acceptably until the panels were installed, which happened in December--10 months ago. There were some hiccups on Solar Negotiators side figuring out the permitting process with the city. They went back and forth with the city on the design because they were apparently confused about what was and wasn't allowed under the city code. This cost me a couple of months of delay before the installation. Already not great, but it's acceptable. After the panels went on my roof, that's when things really went south. When trying to obtain PTO (permission to operate), Solar Negotiators discovered that PG&E required a transformer upgrade. I'm not sure how they failed to identify this earlier. Given that a transformer upgrade can take 6+ months, you would think they would have applied for it well in advance. But I figured mistakes happen, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Solar Negotiators needed to apply for the transformer upgrade and pay for the conditional PTO. Somehow, it took them another two months--and constant calls from me--to get the application submitted. Finally, in March, they told me that my project was in the queue for the transformer upgrade and that I just needed to wait. I was specifically told that I should stop calling because the project was "under control." I waited five months before following up. When I asked for an update, I received the response that "everything is good, we are waiting on the PG&E transformer upgrade." I decided to call PG&E myself to make sure everything was actually in order. PG&E told me that nothing was planned on their side because Solar Negotiators had never responded to an email PG&E sent them back in March. I brought this to Solar Negotiators attention, and they initially denied that there was an issue and assured me they were taking care of it. This is probably the most frustrating part of dealing with Solar Negotiators: every time I call, the person I speak with tells me they need to talk to their "interconnections team" and that someone will call me back. Of course, nobody ever does. I have repeatedly had to call them again myself just to get any information. They also refused to include me in their email correspondence with PG&E. Eventually, I got tired of this and asked PG&E to add me to the email thread from their side. That's when the situation became very clear. Solar Negotiators had indeed failed to respond to PG&E back in March. Their own explanation was that the project had "fallen through the cracks on our end." What makes this even more frustrating is that even after Solar Negotiators knew I was aware that the delay was caused by their failure to respond, they continued dragging their feet with PG&E. They would often take more than a week to respond to PG&E, and in several cases they only responded after I called Solar Negotiators and complained. So, essentially, I have had to babysit my own solar project for months, contacting both Solar Negotiators and PG&E to make sure the companies communicate with each other. Today, I finally received a call from someone at Solar Negotiators who apparently works directly with PG&E and was able to explain the current status of the project. Hopefully, this means things will finally start moving forward and I can get a conditional PTO soon, and a transformer upgrade 6 months later to get a full PTO. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with Solar Negotiators at this point, and there isn't much I can do other than share my experience. If you are considering Solar Negotiators as your contractor, my advice is simple: please don't.

The first person to contact me was Matthew Payne, one of their sales reps, and he is the primary reason we choose to do business with Energy Concepts, and even solar altogether! He's a talker, that's for sure, but throughout the course of the conversations he gave me all the info I would have wanted and/or needed to feel comfortable and confident in my purchase decision. The first time we met, he was on time, prepared to give me a well thought out presentation, and willing spend as much time as I needed. Before the meeting, he had already drawn up multiple options on leasing/purchasing, different brand panels and equipment, various timeframe finance options, and was able to quickly break down what each option meant to me and my needs. What I really appreciated was that he was not pushing me towards one specific option or brand, he wasn't pushing me to buy a larger system than what I needed, and didn't use any nonsense "used car salesman" tactics. He followed up with me a few days later, and we came to a deal. At this point I assumed it would just become a standard contractor job, wrong. The excellent service continued well past the time I said "yes" to the sale. Everything at this company is in house, all the finance folks, the installers, sales folks; they all work for the same company, and therefore there was never a sense of "that's not my job" from any level. Additionally, there was a great sense of continuity across the teams. The sales admin, Kerri Lawler, was the next person I interacted with. She was excellent. She emailed me every single week to update me on the progress of my permits/ordering/design layout/install date. Even if she didn't have big news, she'd updated me as to where we stood on my system. I never once got the feeling that I was lost in the system, or just another sale. She served as an excellent intermediary between the sales rep and the install team. The final piece of the experience was the system install. The design had previously been drawn up by their in house designer, so when the installers showed up they reviewed with me the pans they already had, and what they were looking to accomplish that day. The team was lead by Justin Semrick, who was an absolutely pleasure to interact with! He was polite, professional, and very much aimed to please. I was adamant about not having conduit running across the roof, I really wanted the panels to appear as if they were floating on the roof. Apparently, that was less than easy to accomplish; but on the job site, Justin and Wallie Tavares figured out a way to make it happen. What was likely to take just an hour or so took closer to 2 1/2 because of the complexities. Any other company would have noped right out of there, but once I said I wanted it, Justin and Wallie were determined to make it happen. Fast forward to end of the install, I was EXTREMELY pleased with the work they did. It looks flawless, not a single piece of conduit on the roof, and the floating panel look I was really looking for. Furthermore, they didn't leave a mess anywhere, cleaned and painted everything they put up, and made the install look like it came with the house. Before they left they showed me all the equipment, how it all worked, and what the next steps with the city would be (which they all set up, throughout the entire process I did not have to do a single thing with the city/PG&E, it was all handled by Energy Concepts) This company truly did an outstanding job. Their service was far above par, and they all worked with the collective vision that their job was to EARN my business. I cannot recommend them enough!! TL;DR This company is incredible.
