After interviewing approximately seven solar companies, reading reviews, comparing pricing, evaluating customer service, and reviewing BBB ratings, I ultimately chose SunMade Solar Energy to expand my existing solar system. One thing that stood out immediately was that their pricing was highly competitive with the other companies I considered. While pricing was important, what really set SunMade apart was that they hold both solar and roofing licenses. This gave me additional confidence because I previously had a bad experience with another solar company that damaged my roof, failed to fix the problem, and later went out of business, leaving me to pay for the repairs myself. Our sales representative, Jon Bernal, was professional, patient, and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. There was one item that the system designer later clarified, and although it wasn't a major issue, Jon personally reached out to notify me of the changes. That level of integrity and accountability meant a lot to me and demonstrated that he genuinely cares about his customers. The installation crew was professional, arrived on time, kept the work area clean, and communicated well throughout the process. After installation, I noticed a section of concrete that had become uneven due to settling. I contacted SunMade, and they returned within days to correct the issue and followed up to ensure everything was satisfactory. That kind of customer service is becoming increasingly rare. The entire process moved efficiently. Our first meeting with Jon was on March 28, we signed on March 30, the system was installed on April 27, the meter collar was installed on May 13, and we received Permission to Operate about a week later. Jon also helped us identify and secure available rebates. I would also like to thank Tara in the office. When I needed copies of my contract documents, she provided them promptly and without hesitation. Another positive observation is that the owner, Oz, appears to be actively involved with the company and personally responds to customer reviews. I noticed this during my initial research and felt it reflected a company that values customer feedback and satisfaction. At the time of this review, SunMade Solar Energy held an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Based on my experience, they delivered competitive pricing, excellent communication, professional workmanship, and outstanding customer service. Amazing company to work with, Duane used a drone to measure best location for panels. As I drive around I notice many panels in full shade because they didn't hire Sunmade. Mine receive full sun exposure with 10 east and 10 south facing. They are also the only company that would install the panels I wanted, REC alpha pure rx 460's with 2 Tesla power wall 3 batteries. The install was clean with no conduit running along the roof , everything fed thru attic. I produce more power than my friends 26 panels ( all south facing) q cell system. Based on other communications I've had with SunMade, I know if I did have an issue, they'd be quick to respond and take care of it immediately. The main reason I wanted to update this review was because of the quality of the installation. Going into this, I wanted to use a company that would not take any shortcuts and cause any issues with my roof. It's safe to say that SunMade did an amazing job with the install, I say this because over the last couple months we've had above average rainfall (some days, several inches), there have been no leaks where the panels where installed, this includes my house and the houses that I've referred. They also have over 13 year of experience and are a Family Owned Business. *) First contact (Julia) set things up and my original Solar Educator was not able to make it and had Chris at my door that same day. *) Sales (Chris) was top notch, super knowledgeable, and gave me straight answers and no BS. I from adding 20 to 22 panels and two more panels to make it 24 plus added the bird netting a couple of days before the install. *) President (Oz) worked with me on prices and quick turnaround on all my paperwork; even last minute stuff. *) Scheduling (Amanda) found me an earlier installation date. *) Installers (Omar and crew) did a great job; very polite, kept the panels and boxes looking very clean and aligned, and left no mess behind. I want to preface this review by saying I did not actually get a backup battery from the company. I had a phone consultation with Matt. He was helpful and actually talked me out of getting a back up battery. I currently do not have a true up and in the past 3.7 years, I have only had one bill for 14.77. My purpose for a backup battery was for power outages solely. Matt quoted me a price of 27k and that was after a 30% federal rebate which they sell to another company to get the price down. I've did my research and was able to find my original company which installed my solar to do the job for 17k. 10 k is a huge savings for the job so I have decided to use them instead! read more

I had my Solar installed May 9-10, 2024 and had no issues with the installation. Work was approved by the inspector on the following Monday. Everything was going great, however I noticed that my SCE bill never changed I called the Sun made office and asked if I had to contact SCE and they said they will take care of it. October I contacted SCE and I was told that Sun made submitted and application to operate, but it was not complete. I contacted SCE and was told that the person who handles this was on vacation but checks emails. I sent and email explaining the situation and waited 2 weeks with no follow up from Sun made I sent another email and next day I received notice that I was priority number 1. Two weeks later with no further communication from Sun made I called and spoke with Amber and told her how upset I was about being ignored or at least not being updated on my status. I wrote a poor yelp review and thereafter received frequent communications and finally early January 2025 my application to operate and Solar Billing Plan was approved by SCE. All good now, but with too much effort. read more

For those who don't prefer reading lengthy reviews, I will begin by saying that I recently contracted with SunMade for the purchase and installation of my new solar system. I am completely happy with the installed system. I highly recommend SunMade Energy. I had three other companies give me estimates for a system for my home. SunMade was the last provider that I contacted. They were not the least expensive, nor were they the most expensive. They did give me a bid for a system that has the greatest output potential of all who provided bids. They were less expensive than the other local SUNPOWER panel dealer in my area; that dealer was the most expensive of all who bid, and the system they offered was the smallest. I chose SunMade for a number of reasons. I like the SUNPOWER panels that they use. The presentation that I was given by their educator, Chris, was very straightforward, honest and easy to understand. I never felt that Chris was trying to do anything more than understand my needs, and simply tell me of what they could offer. I liked that they are very well reviewed by others who purchased systems from them. I like that they have an A+ rating from Better Business Bureau, and that they are Diamond Certified. The presentation, follow-up communications with them, the reviews from others, and the ratings that they have earned gave me confidence that they would be a good company to work with. Our system was installed less than one month after we signed the contract with SunMade. The crew that installed the system was excellent. Installation was done in a professional and aesthetically pleasing manner. In less than two months after installation, P.G. & E. did their inspection and gave their permission to operate the system. SunMade handled everything; submitted system for permit approval and received permit, paperwork provided to and scheduling with P.G. & E, and all other tasks needed to complete the system. They made it a very easy and trouble-free purchase.
