The Barn has a small kitchenette, two restrooms, and a coat rack. They arranged the tables and provided table cloths. My group's favorite lunch options included stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and peppers, white fish, and roast beef. I was happy with the meatless options, such as surprisingly creative salads - creamy sweet potato salad, coleslaw, and feta cheese pasta salad. Of course, a good buffet is measured by its dessert bar and Rustic Lodge does not fall short. Pies are definitely the specialty and I especially loved the old fashioned coconut cream.

I had no real idea what to expect in terms of the building, but I was familiar with their wines. There is a sign for the winery at the end of the road and you enter up a long driveway (with several signs warning about not bringing in outside food and drink). I had no idea that their grounds were as massive as they were! There was even a sign for a walking trail. I visited on a Monday in the winter, so I wasn't able to take advantage of their beautiful grounds, but after a great visit, I definitely want to come back in warmer weather and come for one of their events (or even just to enjoy some wine outdoors). They have a nice variety of wines. Many sweet, dry and fruit wines. They also have cocktails and other drinks. I like that more of the specialty establishments are starting to have extended offerings because it makes visiting more accessible to people who might not like wine or beer but still want to enjoy the company of someone who does or a specific event. I went in set on getting a wine slushie (they rotate their flavors, but every one I've tried has been delicious). They allow you to sample basically anything from their menu and you can order wine by the glass, bottle or as tasting flights. When I was there, they were still offering their Valentine's pairing which included four generous pours of red wines each paired with a gourmet chocolate. I really enjoyed the experience and everything was tasty. The service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I asked questions about the wines, where the grapes are grown, how they come up with new blends and about events and they answered all of them. Anyway.....Chef Taz is an amazing artist, creating epicurean delights (what I as a foodie call, well, FOOD )! Chef rules over a secluded cafe in the middle of a private event venue, with the cafe being accessible from 5 to 8pm Tuesday thru Thursday. All of the extensive offerings are scratch prepared and served pleasing to both the eye and the palate. This is a very casual venue, outside tables during the season, indoor for inclement weather. Prices are very reasonable, portions are generous (and he's not trying to compensate for quality by quantity). Children are welcome, lottsa very close parking, there is a small bar serving prepared cocktails, beer and wine (Woodbridge at $6 a glass....DEAL). Very casual attire....shorts de rigue. Chef Taz is the perfect host, and once the rush abates in the back of the house, he will often times visit tables for feedback. We were told we would have our centerpieces included from a florist. We ended up having to purchase everything for our centerpieces which was unexpected and in total costed about $130 (cheaper than actual florists would have costed them). They had a picture of what we wanted and shoddily threw them together. We had a Christmas themed wedding and we asked politely for the pumpkins on the table inside to be removed and the pumpkins right by the main entrance. We were told they would ABSOLUTELY be fine. I spent $300 on an ornament arch so that I could have it as a piece for our guest to walk in and to my surprise the pumpkins were still right beside it. The event ended and we were told we needed to get as much out of the hall as possible before we left so we did but the next day when we went back for the cookies and the trays THAT WE PURCHASED we were told the cookies were thrown away. We never received our trays back. All in all we were happy with our wedding but feel like we were not given what was promised.

Ralph, the owner was great and very helpful. He permitted us to get in the day before to set up and decorate and the day of, the girls were able to go in at 9:00 am to spend the day getting ready in the spacious bathroom/dressing area. We set up for a little over 150 people. The tables are round and can fit 10 at each. There was plenty of space for the guests and a cute sweetheart table, DJ (Chris Moore-he is the best) and the food was in a separate room from the guests. Ralph helped with finding the caterer (manor grill which was fantastic too) as well as the bartenders (also great). Ralph helped us all with the ceremony since none of us were sure what to do! He was there for every part of the evening. Everything went perfect. I highly recommend this venue.
