Core Pilates located in the Loreto Plaza has made my "best of the best" list in Santa Barbara. It is my first time doing the reformer Pilates and I couldn't be more thrilled with how I feel after each class. My only regret is "why didn't I start doing this years ago"? Let me tell you why Core Pilates checks all the boxes. 1) The environment is tremendous. The skilled instructors (yes, they know what they are doing) are positive, helpful, and make you feel that you are in a private lesson! Kathleen is outstanding and should I also mention fun. 2) Unbelievably spotless. The machines are wiped down after every class. The entire place is so clean! You can tell that the owner, Chanda, takes great pride in making sure her business is done right. She is hands on and always available if you have questions, concerns, etc. 3) Variety of programs to fit your needs. I have only done the Classic reformer classes, which I love, but there are so many others to choose from. 4) Childcare. This is a biggie for moms who want to stop in and do a class and know their child is in good hands. I guess you can sense that I really love this place. Are you an athlete? or a former athlete working out some injuries? Look no further. Chanda and her team of instructors are amazing. Their stretching class on Tuesday and Thursdays is life-changing. It's active stretching, sometimes using tennis balls, or yoga straps and blocks. There's no muscle group too small to cover and you'll leave not just relaxed but maybe even taller. No kidding! Doing one of the leg stretching exercises Chanda leads, you can actually see the leg you start with has lengthened at the end of the exercise--so then you do the other leg to even out! After two years of hunching over a computer in grad school and an injury that took me out of running, the Pilates classes really started restoring my strength, and fix my neck and shoulder problems. One thing that sets this studio apart from others in my experience is the knowledge and willingness to correct form that all the instructors have. Another is the small scale and sense of community. Love the sense of welcome and belonging that Core Sport brings to my workouts. The instructors and friendly and make sure you get a good workout. I started there because my teen wanted to try Pilates. It turns out Pilates were more my thing and my daughter loves their TRX classes. My husband has embraced TRX although loves the cardio workout in the spinning class more. It is great that our family can workout together sometimes. read more

A friendly, intimate gym that offers everything a body needs: cardio, strength, and flexibility developed with a variety of classes taught by top-notch professionals, all in a supportive atmosphere. Chanda knows each client and welcomes the timid who have seldom exercised with as much concern and enthusiasm as the hard body who has been a gym rat for years. Showed up to this class and was told by chanda the instructor this was a "special" class that id have to pay for additionally. Apparently classpass messed up and wasnt supposed to put this class on the schedule. i asked if i could join the class as a courtesy given i had already paid a lot of money for a nanny to watch my baby so i could go to this class but she curtly said she was "trying to run a business" and that classpass people are already paying less than "paying" customers in a very condescending manner. i told her she should remove her studio from classpass if she was so disgusted by classpass users such as myself. this has been the worst experience imagineable to be spoken to in such a degrading manner in front of others! I would never ever expect this from a professional at a pilates studio and very disheartened given i have been to this studio prior with great and kind instructors (natalie) but i can never go back here again until i receive an apology. I recommend others think twice about patronizing this business given the vulgar treatment u may receive. Fitness professionals dont have a right to be demeaning to try to make an extra buck. read more

I am So grateful to Chanda, Megan, Amber and all the instructors at Coresport. Not only are they encouraging, but the attention to form during their classes is better than what I have experienced one on one at other places. Chanda's cross training method has strengthened the area around a previous injury to the point that I went from debilitating, chronic nerve pain when I first began to presently no pain at all. I was actually considering surgery at one point and now I am pain free and doing exercise that far surpasses my former physical therapy routine. I am grateful to all the instructors that they watch our form so carefully and that Chanda kindly nudges us into trying all types of excercise, no matter how intimidating. My quality of life is better than before my injury...I am stronger, healthier, even my sleep has improved! Another difference worth mentioning that I have heard issues about from classes at other studios is confusing cues or loss of count. At Coresport, the instructors do not lose count and the instruction is specific, never vague. Then if help is needed, help is given immediately...simple as that. read more

This fitness studio is my favorite. They have Pilates classes, reformers and mat, spin, TRX, barre, and circuit classes. The staff and clients are very helpful and supportive. I always feel great when I g there. The owner, Chanda, is awesome. read more

Chanda and her team are phenomenal. I had been working out for years and years at a large gym- and realize I was just a number. I was in classes with 30-40 people and was doing positions and moves that were not correct form. I had no idea. Chanda and her staff helped me to learn how to exercise better and smarter- not longer. I learned to get more value in quality vs. quantity workouts. They have created an incredible gym that gives you boutique-level service but not those crazy prices. They are highly trained and they care about you and making you hit your exercise goals. Could not recommend them more! read more
