I have rarely had bad experiences at different CP locations across the country. What I will say about this experience is that, while it was not horrible, it did not leave me feeling like I wanted to come back. I don't think I've ever felt more like I didn't belong at a yoga studio before, and that's actually saying a lot given the ethnic make up of some of the people who were there when I stopped in. I get it, it's Georgetown, there's a certain level of pretentiousness that they have to maintain, but the snottiness that I have witnessed and experience, even during what was supposed to be a "community" class was laughable. Merari, the studio manager, was the instructor for my community class. I've taken community classes at other locations, as well as other classes at various locations. I find other community classes to be warm in a lot of ways. This one was not. In fact, I found it quite comical that prior to class, the staff members checking you in at the front desk (which took way longer than I've ever seen before, btw) encourage you to pick up one of those circles that allows you to indicate if you would like hands-on assistance. At the beginning of class, this particular instructor said, "you probably won't need those. I actually don't do hands-on assisting because my instruction is very clear." Ummmm, sis, as a longtime yogi, please get it together and recognize that hands-on assisting is often for far more than that. In fact, it's often used to help further deepen or correct postures, which aren't always clear to folks, especially newer people. Additionally, for someone who is as hyper flexible as me, I really appreciate hands-on assistance when it comes to deepening certain moves. I just found her overall vibe to be relatively condescending . In so many ways, it was almost as if she wanted to come out of her face and say something to be effective, "you guys are here for a free community class. Do what I say, and if you can't, that's on you." Definitely wouldn't return to this location, which sucks because overall, the actual practice was about a 4/5. Save yourself the extreme misfortune/expense and do not go here. All of my belongings were stolen while I attended my first ever C2 class at the Corepower Georgetown location. The front doors are presumedly locked and I put my stuff in the designated cubby area right outside of the class I attended. My purse, phone, wallet, keys were all stolen along with my clothes. Another woman was there attending her first ever class and all of her belongings were stolen as well. Corepower took zero responsbility despite having let someone get through their locked main entrance and into the back of the studio, did not assist the police with providing security footage, and left us in a state of total panic with zero resources as our credit cards, phone, and important items were all taken. They have made no attempt to find out who took the items, so it could be a student that still goes there, an instructor, or someone that they let inside to use the restroom. The studio is extremely unsafe and I would not recommend any woman or person to be in that space. read more

I started Corepower yoga in California and fell in love. The teachers are so passionate and inspiring. You would never walk away from the class without some spiritual nugget or without learning something new. Core power On the east coast wether it is Georgetown, Bethesda or falls church is very hit or miss. I think because it is still a relatively new chain to the east coast, they are still identifying new teachers and trying to figure out the skill level of their students. Some teachers are wonderful and inspiring, but others I feel just go through the motions because it is their job. They lead the class, but they don't teach the class if you know what I mean. I am giving 4 stars because overall I like Corepower and their culture and certain teacher are excellent, but overall: 1. The teachers need to correct students more often, lend assists 2. The teachers in c2 need to teach new moves/inversions/arm balances for those who want to deepen their practice. Some teachers are great at this, others just do a basic class and call it c2. The advanced yogis need to practice too :) 3. Make sure to change the music during core to something more upbeat. I like the ambient music during a c1 but I can't get into crunches to the sound of ocean waves. 4. Change your playlist and flow more often! If I go to your c2 or sculpt 3 times a week I will get tired of the same thing over and over. I want to learn and strengthen my practice so switch it up a little. Corepower Yoga went down the hill since after they opened back up after covid. I used to go regularly to C1 classes and the one CR class that they offered in my area. The instructors used to be good and seem to care more about teaching the right way, now don't seem to put as much effort, some of them cannot even do yoga poses properly because they are not able to do it them selves yet and out of shape (the people who come to C1/CR are able to do more than the trainer sadly). Also, last class I joined, the guy was cracking jokes when we are supposed to be focusing on our breathing. I wanted to started going regularly again, but I just don't feel like I am getting the same benefit as I did before. read more

Beware of the difficulty of getting cancellations processed, this studio is extremely hard to contact. My college student kid wanted to try this studio out, but was on travel the second half of the summer. We submitted the cancellation for the pass on July 29, but it was auto-billed two weeks later. We have been trying to contact them via web form, email and phone for three business days. They do not answer the phone and the the emails/forms just send back generic responses. I think that the only way to cancel is to go in person or contact your debit/credit card and file a dispute. They do send an automated email response when you cancel so at least it will be possible to document for the credit processor. read more

My husband and I love this studio because of Lilly. Lilly is the best yoga sculpt teacher. She is the joy of our weekday nights. She exudes such positive energy and gives an awesome work out that will make you sweat nonstop. There is metered parking for $2 / hour in front of the studio or you can circle around north of Georgetown for free neighborhood parking. The classes are full, but never too crowded which is perfect. The locker rooms could use additional cleaning services. There always seems to be lack of tissue, and dirty towels and empty water bottles remaining. read more

I tried a c1 class here through class pass. The staff was very inviting and innformative. The instructor was also amazIng. He was very detailed when he explained every movement which made it easy to fIne tune my positions without His physical adjustment. The flow was soothing yet challenging. I do have a heart condition so I pass out from over heating so unfortunately I can not do any other classes. C1 - there's no heat but the room stays around 85 degrees. I was able to get through the class but was sick afterwards. It sucks that thEy don't have any true unheated classes and they don't hold enough c1 classes through the weeK (most are at 1:30 pm during work hours) for me to join so I am still on a quest for a yoga studio home. read more

3.5 stars. I am a fan of Corepower. I have been to the Mosaic location more than once. They both have the same feel, but there are a couple of things that don't match up. I noticed the bathrooms were not well kept. I attended a class at 1pm, and was surprised to see how the facilities were maintained. Also, keep in mind that this is Gtown. Garage parking is available if you don't like parking your car on the street. In fact, I witnessed a car rear end another while parking. And I can confirm that their water machine only provides warm water. I did really enjoy the class and instructor, but will probably not come back to that location. read more

Let me preface this review with the fact that I am not a yogi -- at all. I am a lover of the boutique fitness scene and trying to find other workouts to offset the cycling classes I teach. Enter Core Power Yoga. First class I took was Hot Power Fusion with Stephanie(?) Pros: This was the first yoga class that I didn't feel defeated. It was a huge class, so I didn't feel singled out and there were several people in there who didn't seem like yogis either. The music was really cool playing in the background. EDMish with relaxing beats. Perfect amount of heat. Cons: almost too easy and not enough direction... The teacher seemed high and not in a cool yogi way. Sculpt Class with Sarah Jayne Pros: LOVED this class. It was challenging and sweaty. The instructor was smiley and motivating and just fun. She didn't give off any negative or judge vibes and gave modifications for everything. I loved that she did most of the moves with us. Don't expect to get a power yoga class when you come... This is much more of a boot camp feel. I struggle finding classes that challenge me and keep me interested (I teach at a boutique cycle studio), but this did the trick. There is even a song where we kind of did Zumba-ish moves to spike the heart rate. Loved that the room was heated too! Cons: Bathroom was really dirty. A 4pm class on a Monday and two commodes were demolished by #2. Gross! read more

First let me say that I have really enjoyed the classes I have taken at this studio. I have taken several classes and found them both challenging and fun. The instructors were great, both encouraging and positive. The studio itself is well-equipped and clean. I have one main gripe. I arrived about three minutes after the scheduled start time and found the door locked. It seems as though the person who runs the front desk also teaches the class, so once the class starts they lock the outer door and there is no staff in the lobby at all. This is the city; there is traffic, public transit can be unreliable etc and to not allow someone in if they are late is a bit harsh, especially if you have just spent 45 minutes getting there. I know the studio just opened so I think this is a problem that could be rectified by having staff at the front desk at all times, not just in between classes. read more

I spent five months trying to find a yoga studio in DC. A friend/my former Bikram teacher suggested this spot after working at CP in Denver. I've been going for about two months and genuinely enjoy the classes. Here's my problem: if I'm spending a sizable sum each month for yoga, why is the place disgusting? No one cleans between classes so you walk into piles of sweat and strands of hair on the floors. The locker room floor needs to be vacuumed desperately. And the bathroom stalls... My God. Let's just say they should be avoided. Classes and guides are great but they are in dire need of a good cleaner. read more

I have tried plenty of yoga classes in the DC-Arlington area, and this place is my least favorite. Having said that, it may work for some people. I tried the free one-week trial about a year back, and I was back recently because of my ClassPass membership. I have tried various classes offered here: C1, C2, Hot Power Fusion and Sculpt. The sculpt class is the most challenging, followed by C2, and you will definitely need a towel for both these classes! My two main complaints about this place are that the classes can get very crowded (especially the sculpt classes), and the teachers do not offer any corrections- not even in the C1 classes. I wish they had a more reasonable class size limit on the sculpt classes because its not fun touching your neighbors sweaty mat. The music in the sculpt classes is very loud and drowns the instructors voice. Even though the sculpt class is a really good, challenging and fast-paced workout, there is a lot to be desired. Also, a focus on proper alignment and form are the basic requirements of any good yoga class, and you won't find any of that here. Yes, the space is big, but the lockers can get really crowded. The good things about this place is the convenient location in Georgetown, friendly staff and instructors, variety of class timings, and the option of renting a mat ($2) and towel ($1). read more

It was my first time at CorePower. I went with my friend who has only raved about about how great it is, so I was excited to try it out. We took a Monday morning, Yoga Sculpt - Heated Power Yoga with Weights class with Katie. However, there were a few things that made my first visit disappointing. 1) Too crowded when you first walk in and in the classroom - Because of the clothing racks, there was no where to properly form a check in line; people were going out the door. And people, that I assume had already checked in, were shoving to get by. Then in the classroom, the man next to me literally got kicked in the face by the girl in front of him. It was obviously an accident; but, if there were less people, that wouldn't have happened. 2) Music was so loud during most of the class, I literally couldn't hear the instructor. So, it was a domino effect of whomever was closest to her doing the exercise, then the people closest to them looking to see what they were supposed to do and then to the edges where we just hoped the other people were actually doing the right thing. It felt sporadic and the instructor did not keep the timing or reps equal on both sides of the body. Definitely made me sweat; but, I was not as sore as I thought I should be from what I was originally expecting. 3) Major disconnect - The instructor I had didn't seem to be fully committed to what she was saying or to the class. I didn't feel she was passionate about it - she didn't get me excited about it. It was like she was just going through the motions. Even my friend felt that the instructor we had was not what she was used to at CorePower. I know that people have off days, so maybe I just came on a bad day for that instructor. My friend suggested that I come back another day with a different instructor and that it would change my opinion. So, I'm going to do that. -- There were some good things to the experience: 1) The studio space it self was great. Changing rooms and bathroom were nice and very clean. 2) Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. 3) Signup was fast and easy. read more

CorePower Yoga??! Where have you been all my life?! So my friend Stacey sweetly gifted me a trial membership of classpass so I had the opportunity to try out cute little boutique gyms around the city. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. I tried the CorePower Yoga Sculpt Heated Yoga Class, a high-cardio class fused with yoga and weights so you are really getting a full-body workout. You will do yoga. You will jump rope. You will do squats. You will do push-ups. But also. You will have a lot of FUN! While usually at some point during every type of gym class the thought creeps into my mind re "When is this going to be over??" not once did I think that during this class. The music was phenomenal, and music for me makes the work out experience what it is. I realize that that is very instructor-specific, but the playlist for the particular class I went to was awesome. Great peppy songs, but not songs that you had heard a bajillion times. This was a dance party to me. I also just loved the energy in the room. It definitely is an intense workout. I felt the pain in my legs the next day. So worth it. read more

I've been going to CP since they opened and I must say it is a great way to get a serious work out . I greatly enjoy Adeoye's and Sihnou's ( she is unfortunately no longer there) classes, these two instructors bring grace, inspiration and fun to all the practices. I tried classes with other instructors. Molly and Laura are fantastic as well , especially given that the classes I've taken with them were at 6 am. These two instructors have a great energy for the sculpt class that is extremely hard core ! The facilities are great and I cannot say enough good things about it. One down point I would like to bring up here though, I think all instructors need to do a better job in adjusting their students and making a point about safe way of practicing. During one of the practices I overextended my ligament and to this day I am in pain. While I am not blaming anybody , I wish I would get more guidance about safe practice and adjustments from the instructors. While hot yoga allows the muscles to stretch and opens the body , it also puts untrained body in distress and danger. So beware. read more

I split my time between this CorePower and the one on Connecticut Ave. I definitely prefer the one on Connecticut Ave., while it may be smaller they make up for it in friendliness. Each time I've been to this location, I always seem to encounter a staff member that's more than a little rude. If you show up slightly earlier than their allotted thirty minutes, they regard you with high levels of suspicion. Their retail selection however, is very good. read more

I bought a groupon for Corepower not really knowing what I was getting into. I was newer to the area and work in the building so I thought it would be a good fit. Their lobby isn't always open which is kind of weird. They're only available when they're not in session. The staff is really nice and seemingly patient as you do your practice which was great. I did however notice that the floors in the room weren't always cleaned right after an intense session. I think it's a good workout, just wasn't the right fit for me. C2 is less intense than hot yoga, but varies based on the teacher. read more

Core Power Yoga is an excellent yoga studio. I'm more of a barre/bootcamp person, so I checked out their Power Sculpt class at Core Power. The studio: the studio is gorgeous, complete with a nice lounge and retail area, nice, clean and modern locker rooms with full showers, and the studio room itself was very nice and clean as well. The power sculpt class: I'm pilates certified, teach barre classes, and workout at least 5 days a week, so I consider myself in great shape. This class kicked my butt, in an awesome way. The power sculpt class is Yoga on steroids. The instructor Suzy was awesome. She had a nice strong voice and kept the class flowing really well. You work out to music in a heated room, and transition from different yoga poses, adding weights and a cardio element. The class was very challenging and I left dripping with swear. I am super sore today (the day after), and I'm loving the soreness because it means I worked my muscles really hard. Highly recommend this studio! read more

I finally caved into getting a Classpass last week and have been trying out different studios since then. Despite reserving a spot at the Georgetown location instead of Bethesda and dropping into the Power Sculpt instead of the Beginner Power Yoga (Hey Monday, Hey), I had an "exceeded expectations" experience. The staff was friendly, but not annoyingly so. Same with the teacher. Instructors at other studios have been detached, hard to understand, or somewhat militaristic. The space with clean and there was no trace of odors (unlike another studio). The workout was challenging but manageable and breaks were well-spaced out. I'm considering canceling my Classpass and sticking to this studio (the Bethesda one was an equally delightful experience). Would recommend! read more

After trying out 5+ yoga studios in the DC/NoVA area, it was clear that Core Power in Georgetown was exactly what I was looking for. The classes are challenging, and span a wide variety of types of yoga; the hot power fusion class is a great Bikram-style class, while the C2 and Yoga Sculpt classes provide great workouts and help build your practice. The studio itself is clean, open, and provides a great atmosphere overall. I've had nothing but positive experiences with all of the instructors, and will continue to make Core Power a weekly part of my workout routine! read more

Molly's sculpt class is the best workout in DC. It's like heated yoga meets boot camp with weights to great music. Sadly, she only teaches twice per week. If you are an advanced yogi looking for a crazy, high energy, challenging class, this is the one for you. I gave them 4 stars because I have had class with two other instructors there who did not measure up to Molly. They were a bit boring and I found myself checking the clock. The classes were good, but not amazing. Like others said, the facility is big, new and very nice. I agree that this is not a studio for beginners. Much better for advanced students. I've been doing yoga for about 7 years. read more

I recently was in town to run the Cherry Blossom 10 miler and came to CorePower to check out a pre-race yoga class. This location is located in the basement and if you're late (or ridiculously early in my case) the door will be locked. Someone let us in about 25 minutes before class. We tried out the free week of yoga and borrowed mats and towels. The instructors were really friendly and they have a great (if not expensive) selection of clothing available to browse. The nicest part about the amenities was the fact that they let you borrow locks for free with hair ties to hold onto the key. The studio itself is pretty small and they don't seem to clean up in between classes much. I'm not sure if it gets busier on weekdays or prime time workout hours, but at 9am on a Saturday the room was pretty much full. Once again, not sure what happens if you get there towards class start time as they don't do online booking. The teacher was nice, she seemed to be aware of various fitness abilities and had a passion for yoga. She was constantly watching the class and offered to correct form at the begining, asking us to raise our hand if we did not want to be touched. The class wasn't overly difficult, I practice hot yoga on a fairly regular basis and the "hottest class" wasn't hotter than anything I've encountered at home. The teacher also threw in some abs in the last half, which wasn't the purpose of my visit that day, but I can't hate on an extra ab workout. I would definitely come back to a CorePower studio if I'm in an area with one! read more

I travel frequently and love to find a yoga class wherever I am. I have practiced at Core Power in several cities and always find the staff friendly and the studio clean. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the loaner mat, which I count on since I don't take a mat with me when I am going out of town, was not in good condition. Otherwise, all was great and I loved the music, flow that took me through all the poses I needed, and clear instruction that made the C2 class easy to follow. read more

The studio is off a quiet street in Georgetown. It's kind of small, but the area is well utilized. I went for my first class today. It appears that many people in this studio like to walk around barefoot in the common areas, hallway and the locker rooms. Perhaps a testament to how clean the floors are? Personally, I think that's really gross. I kept my socks on in the room itself, which appears to be free of any outside shoes--that's good, I took a beginner C1 yoga class with Alix. He was very nice and lead the class well. I don't do yoga normally, just trying new ways to stay healthy and de-stress, so as far as I could tell, everything was fine. He walked around the room and helped correct posture as needed. He made a comment that if anyone was uncomfortable being touch just to raise their hand and he could verbally assist in changes. I thought that was very nice. The only thing is, I don't know the name of any positions except, table, downward dog and a few others...so some things were hard to know. But I just watched others and got used to it. I will say, they do put the core into their class. I've never taken a yoga class that moved relatively fast (i.e., I didn't want to fall asleep in--I've been to those, borrrring) and actually did movements to engage your core. The room itself had a hot yoga class in it before, so I thought it was a little too warm. Alix did air the room for a bit, and half way through the session cool air seemed to kick in. But the first half was humid and warm. The thermostat read 88 when class started. I bought the groupon for the unlimited classes for 1 month. I plan on going to the C1 classes and the power sculpt, per recommendation of the trainers. This studio is really pricey, so they need to blow my socks off for me to consider staying on at the black tag price of $155 a month for unlimited classes. If I manage to feel calmer, and lose some post-bar exam hell weight, I might just keep on coming back post-groupon. read more

This has quickly become my favorite fitness studio! From a dance and weightlifting background, I thought I would try CorePower when my doctor recommended mixing in warm to hot yoga. LIFE CHANGING! The Yoga Sculpt classes here got me hooked after a friend invited me to one. The offering of traditional yoga classes (always with a core workout song though) to the more upbeat Sculpt classes with weights and cardio means that a full time membership is worth something and can provide a full range of workouts. I love the energy that the Georgetown studio in particular has, although individual teachers many vary widely in their classes. Depending on what you like in a teacher and a class, everyone has a different set of favorite teachers, and I think that diversity speaks to how well CorePower as a company does to build a community. I don't know if I can say enough good things about this core power location. There's never any need to sign up or reserve your spot in a class (though you may want to get there early for the weekend sculpt classes if you have a preference on where in the room you are). You can always rent mats ($2) and towels ($1) if you forget yours, and the locker room is always clean and well stocked with shampoo/conditioner, mouthwash, hair dryer, etc. making it easy to get a class in before work/school. The classes offer a range from more slowpaced/relaxed to upbeat and sweaty (sculpt). I have loved every single one of the sculpt instructors and the classes are so full of energy. I used to do Bikram but now prefer CPY's Hot Power Fusion class (1 hour, heated, pose-oriented). If you're thinking of trying HPF for the first time, try out Laura's Tuesday class - she's the studio manager and teaches a great, instructional class. The overall atmosphere is great- there is a no-talking policy in the studios allowing for relaxation for those that like that, but the rest of the studio is very lively and welcoming. The cons: classes are pricey, but they do have student pricing and if you go frequently the unlimited packs are definitely worth it. Sometimes classes are very popular, and it might be hard to find a locker before class (hasn't been a problem for me but I've heard that from others). read more

Sculpt is the toughest gym class I've ever taken, and I think I've been to most of the gyms in DC. I'm not a fan of hot yoga, but the room is not heated to the point of a bikram class, and the workout would be tough even in a cool room. In addition to being a brutal and engaging full body workout, it leaves you feeling energized rather than beat at the end...even though you'll feel sore for the next couple days. Molly's Sculpt class was better than the other instructors', but they're all good. The facilities are also really nice, and they sell some cute gym clothing and supplies. Sculpt is not a beginner-friendly class, but the studio offers other classes. The first week is free and mat rental is free for your first class. read more

This place is seriously disgusting. Not only does it smell bad but the locker rooms are like on level with Union station bathrooms. I cannot believe they are able to retain customers. I have attended classes at CorePower's Pentagon, Georgetown, DuPont, & City Center locations and this one (Georgetown) is my favorite studio out of the 4 I have patronized. My favorite because the instructors are awesome (out of all the studios, I have left Georgetown feeling like I got a good workout and great direction.) I have taken Yoga Sculpt & Hot Power Fusion and could rave about each class. The ambiance isn't stellar (compared to City Center) but the classes are more intense at Georgetown. Just note, that with this location being near two universities, the classes are packed and you will be VERY intimate with the people around you. read more

I am a huge fan of all CorePower studios and was thrilled to hear that a studio had just opened up in DC when I moved here for a few months from Chicago. You can feel the "newness" of this studio and of CPY generally to the DC area. They are still in the process of recruiting teachers and dedicated students, and it will take some time to build up the sort of community you may find in other CPY cities. I'm sure they'll rock it. What's really unique about this studio from my point of view as that many of the classes, both C2 and Sculpt (yoga flow class with weights and cardio elements) really cater to more high intensity fitness buffs, whereas other new studios I've seen open up take time to ramp things up with their students (I was there at the beginning of the Littleton, CO studio as well as the Hyde Park, IL studio). Another unique thing is that the sculpt classes focus a lot more on reps for the same muscle groups (I just did a class yesterday that was planks-galore), whereas other sculpts I've been to seem to move through working different parts of the body more quickly. Obviously, neither is right or wrong, it just takes getting used to! That said, and I'm no perfect yogi, but I see a lot of students in these classes who are in great shape but don't have great yoga form. It makes me cringe because another six months of doing chatarangas incorrectly could give a person serious injury... That said, if you are new to yoga, absolutely start at the C1 level and take it slowly. I was in terrible shape about a year ago when I got back into doing yoga. After 9 months of 4X week CPY classes, I've lost 25 lbs and have the best muscle tone of my life. Not that yoga is just about weight loss...but yeah. Let's be honest. It's pretty nice, eh? Also, I love the HPF classes. They are slower and in some ways more mentally challenging for it. If you're sore from running or some other exercise, are looking for a peaceful but challenging workout, or just need to flush out Friday night's demons, there's no better way in my book. So get out there are give it a go ;-) Yoga is for everyone! If you can't do something never be ashamed to ask for a modification. Any teacher worth their salt will be happy to give you one. read more

Posting as a general FYI.. The studio space here is unclean. I've contacted the studio via feedback forms at least twice, and nothing has changed so that is why I'm posting on yelp. Every time I go to the studio there is stuff (sweat, flakes of skin, toe nails, you name it..) on the yoga studio's floor. I've tried going a few times because there is a few instructors that I really like for yoga sculpt; but it is not worth it. The women's locker room smells of mold, please do yourself a favor & practice at Clarendon or Pentagon City CorePower. read more

I did the free yoga for a week and it was awesome ! No catch involved, you won't get 500 phone calls or emails, and you'll get an awesome workout. The power sculpt classes are intense, and hot yoga is still a workout but relaxing. I felt so much stronger after just a week here ! read more

Not a good place and feels dirty. Bathrooms were messy and its just not well-maintained. Hurting the brand.

I love corepower but have only had negative experiences at this studio due to cancellations, overcrowding, and undertrained instructors. If you're able, go to a different studio. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE CorePower Yoga! I've been a member for over a year now (helping clean the studios too) and really love being able to go to different studios around the city, trying out new classes and new instructors. This location is right across the street from Baked and Wired, so you may need that extra cardio section in Yoga Sculpt to make up for it! I love that the front studio has a large window facing the street - you can get some great light and if you happen to take a C2 class when the sun is setting... well it's amazing. read more
