I would never provide a negative review of a small business owner if it weren't 100% justified. Corey Ann, I apologize that I have to broadcast your deplorable treatment of me and my family, but I can't let innocent bride-to-be's get fooled by a few suspiciously glowing reviews like I did. My mom and I reached out to Corey in Feb 2012 for my Oct 2012 wedding at the Ritz in Cleveland. Corey would not meet us in Cleveland, so my parents traveled to Akron to meet her when she was free. I lived in Chicago so was communicating with Corey Ann and my parents thru email only. A month or so later, my parents signed the contract for Corey Ann's highest priced package. I was excited to check something off the list and thrilled to have Corey Ann as my photographer. Throughout the Spring and Summer, Corey Ann and I exchanged many emails. She was very prompt and thorough in her responses, and I mentioned many times how excited I was to have her as my photographer, frequently mentioning specifically how impressed I was with her photogray. My mom and Corey Ann were going back and forth about a few aspects of the original package that were not relevant for my wedding, but aside from that, the only thing left to figure out was the location(s) for our photos between the ceremony and reception. In August, after my fiance and I moved to Cleveland, I asked Corey Ann if we could meet to get to know one another and to see her favorite downtown Cleveland shooting spots. She said she would not come to Cleveland, but I could meet her in Fairlawn on a weekday and I was welcome to look at her blog for Cleveland wedding photos. (I had already done that, and there were not many Cleveland weddings on it, so this suggestion was not terribly helpful.) Rather than make an issue out of it, I responded saying that I loved the photos she took on one particular bridge in Cleveland and hoped we could fit that in to our plan. She nixed the bridge, and we never did meet in person. A couple weeks later, the wedding team at the Ritz asked Corey Ann when she would come to Cleveland to see their venue, since she had never shot a wedding there before. I believe it is standard practice for the Ritz to introduce any first-time vendors to their standard practices and provide a tour of the facilities before the wedding day. My mom and I were happy to see the Ritz was so consistent with their top-notch service and attention to detail. Corey Ann raised eyebrows at the Ritz during a conversation that my mom and I were not privy to, but she eventually compromised with them, agreeing to show up an hour early the day of my wedding for the intro. Her issues coming to Cleveland were becoming silly. Members of the Ritz team warned me that her behavior was was raising red flags in their minds, but my wedding was 2 months away, so what options did I have? I figured that all I really needed from a photographer, at the end of the day, were photos, so everything would be okay. I wanted to get along with my photographer, so I told her in almost every email how excited I was to work with her and how much I respected her work. She, in turn, was nothing but friendly over email, despite that she was often wrapping her friendliness around a "no" response to my requests. Having worked with plenty of difficult people in my professional life, I could tell that she was a bit of a diva, but it was too late to change plans, and I still believed in her talent as a photographer. During the same week she talked to the Ritz, Corey Ann emailed me on 8/13 stating that I needed to sign the contract that my parents initially signed months ago. She never mentioned this in the roughly 4 months prior, and I had not been asked to sign any contracts by our other vendors, but if this was one of Corey Ann's "quirks," so be it. I was in the process of reading / signing the contract that my parents already signed when, on 8/16, just weeks before my wedding, Corey Ann told me that she would be sending back our deposit and quitting as my photographer. For the 1st time in our 50-plus email exchange since I first contacted her in Feb, Corey Ann said she felt that her professional abilities as a photographer were not trusted. If I had room in this post to copy/paste all of the times I told her how amazing her photographs were, I would do so. I said this so many times, so I have reason to doubt her rationale. I still don't know if she didn't like me or doesn't like to drive to Cleveland or what her deal was, but months after my wedding, she posted on her blog about her fabulous vacation during my wedding wknd. The professionalism we experienced from our first meeting with Corey back in 2009 has been consistent through 2016. I made many vendor decisions based on reviews and interviews so I was obviously hoping to find the best for the wedding day. I had many wonderful vendors that I absolutely loved and I wish I could say the same about my photographer, but she honestly underwhelmed me. First off, she didn't answer my emails within 3 business days after I booked her, which was very different from when I was still deciding on a photographer and she would email back on the same day. Three days is plenty of time to respond to a business email, especially if you already have a smart phone. When I asked her for the engagement proofs she delivered them two weeks late with no apology. I was flabbergasted! She didn't bother to call prior to the wedding to touch base on photo locations or to follow up on any questions, concerns, or ideas I had. She sent a lousy survey which I found was very impersonal. Just so everything would go without a hitch, I called her on the week of the wedding to bounce ideas but she didn't sound very interested and didn't have many suggestions or questions for me. I was hoping she would be more familiar with photo locations but she didn't put an work into researching the best photo locations within 15 miles of the reception location. For the amount I paid, I was really hoping for better customer service. I basically didn't have the same amazing service everyone else raved about. Sure, I had a couple of good shots from the wedding day, but I didn't get the typical shots I was hoping for (the dress hanging, getting ready, close-ups, details of the day, etc). I really liked the photos I saw on her website and portfolio but I don't think she put 100% of her effort on my wedding day. She wasn't the professional, artistic photographer I was hoping for. Corey is some work.. on a sunny day she's nice. Otherwise grumpy, unpleasant and constantly swearing. It's like she lives by her own made up rules. She is definitely capable of producing nice images. I got about 10 from my wedding. The rest are.. snapshots comparable to those from guests' iphones. She costs an arm and a leg, and is not flexible with coverage. Corey Ann was willing to make time for our family photo session in the midst of a busy holiday weekend where she had two other engagements here in New England. The fact that an Ohio based photographer is travelling the entire country to shoot events speaks for itself. She was warm and patient with our two young boys and captured images that are proudly hanging in our home and will be a source of great memories for years to come. I discovered Corey Ann Photography through Facebook a few years back. I love looking through Corey's photos. She has a way of capturing intimate moments in such a sweet and honest way. Its a beautiful gift she has. I had the opportunity to hire a photographer for our Vow Renewal/ Anniversary party. I knew immediately I wanted Corey Anne. I was thrilled when we set a date and had her booked for it. Everything was handled in a timely and professional manner. When the day came she arrived early. She took beautiful pictures of the Venue inside and out. She photographed the ceremony in a lovely way. Then after we went outside for some family pics. She made us feel very comfortable. Corey was a pleasure to work with! my husband and I live in Cincinnati and Corey met us in Columbus to do our engagement pictures and then did our wedding pictures in the ashland area. She had never been to either of the locations where we shot our engagement photos or to our wedding venue but she was open for anything!
