It's a very narrow road, made more narrow by the fact that cars are parked along it pretty much the whole way on both sides. So once I finally worked out where this place was, I was really very desperate for a milkshake and a break. OMFG. What a great place! The menu, while not huge, is packed full of extremely appetizing foods and drinks. The chocolate milkshake I had might well be the best I ever experience. It's hard to describe how good it is. I did get a couple of the handmade chocolates to try, and like the milkshake, they were delicious. Service here is excellent. Really friendly. The shop itself is a converted house, and it's beautiful. It really is. It's surprisingly large. If you look at it from the street, you'll have no idea how many people can fit into this palace of chocolatey pleasure. I'm another who would give this place ten stars. Or more.

I was quite captivated with some of the selection of cakes and deserts they had for sale, a variety of cakes were displayed for a reasonable price, however I couldn't find any pricing for cakes or cake slices on their given menu at that time. The actual cake and food quality looks OK, nothing extravagant, but nevertheless reasonable. What disappointed me the most about this lovely little cafe was the tasteless and extremely hot coffee that was served. The actual coffee was brewed way too fast; most likely rushed, I generally tasted the burnt coffee beans which also left an unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth.

While it is pretty casual inside the food is much more than you might expect from what looks like a shack on the beach. We enjoyed the fish of the day, grilled served with a few chips and salad. We also shared a tomato salad entree and some bread. Food was fresh, high quality and perfectly prepared. Portions were very reasonable - this is not a place where you need to order an appetizer instead of a main course to avoid over eating. Service was very warm and welcoming and you just can't beat the view. If you want to eat inside away from the heat, advance reservations are essential. Recommended.

It is also famous for its' seafood, and seasonal, local produce driven food and wine menu. Recently, the Star had a makeover which has resulted in even better views of the ocean from every table, and a contemporary, bright feel. Local art adds colour. Before perusing the Autumn menu, we opt for a glass of bubbles out on the deck, which you can also book to dine upon. Service is friendly, chatty but not obtrusive. We are kept informed and engaged in chat when there was a bit of a delay for our mains to come out, which was good customer service. Tables are set classically with white cloths, and a little bit of nature in the form of a potted succulent. Nice glassware for sparkling, whites and reds is offered. Chef sends with his compliments an amuse bouche of tiny smoked potato cubes, smoked mascarpone, and a lightly spiced potato crisp. A little mouthful of heaven smoky, crunchy, potato still al dente with bite, and not over seasoned with salt. Crumbed croquettes of 'brandade' or salt cod are served with fresh crab meat, potato mousse, smoked roe and sprinkled with spiced powders ($18). My MIL loved it! Mr Wino's special of the day ($16) was white anchovies presented in their own tin, with a garlic mayo and toasts. Gone in mere seconds! Pumpkin tofu ($16) is not a 'true' tofu as there is no soy in it. In fact, this is far better! You can taste the pure flavour of every ingredient. The tofu is silken and wobbling and rich with pure, savoury pumpkin flavour. Seed crisp is crunchy and studded with roasted pepitas. Savoury Japanese pumpkin is also served roasted over coals, with just a hint of sweetness. MIL opts for the Star of Greece classic, Kangaroo Island battered whiting, chunky hand cut chips, watermelon salad and sauce gribiche ($33). Pretty in pink, my house made fettuccine is stained with an earthy but not overly flavoursome pink beetroot sauce, sprinkled with toasted walnuts and adorned with a slice of heirloom yellow beetroot ($29). As pretty as it was, it was a little cold, and while I polished off the lot it wasn't as flavoursome as my pumpkin starter. Glorious greens. For an extra vitamin boost we also have a serving of the seasonal veggies, with truffle oil and roasted walnuts ($10), which is perfectly cooked, glossy and fragrant from the truffle oil. We were all happy to eat our greens! Afterwards or before, the beach beckons. A stroll along the orange cliffs with sand beneath your toes is very good for the soul, and for digestion!

Adelaide loves a high tea. That said, it means there is a fair bit of choice for the consumer and competition keeps prices affordable and experiences memorable. Having visited several other venues offering high tea around town my girlfriends (and 1 brave boyfriend) were overjoyed to discover there is now a venue in Hahndorf whose primary aim is to provide a specialised high tea service. Antiquteas is on the main street of the historic german town. It is a space inexpensively furnished a little too sparsely with the chintzy, scrolled and frilly garb you would expect from a high tea joint. The service was a little strained but our waitress tried hard enough to be affable... I get the impression this was a little difficult for her. My friend who organised the event said she had been incredibly helpful in the planning stages and they had even arranged to cater for our vegetarian friend who is on a crazy gluten free kick recently, WOW! In my mind thatt is above and beyond. I would have laughed at anyone who suggested I provide a gluten free high tea for them... what is it other than white bread sandwiches with no crusts, scones and pastries??! Anyway - so they have to be recognised for catering for my crazy friend. The sitting started at 11am and a welcoming glass of bubbly had me quite merry on my empty stomach. Each person was catered for with three small fingers of sandwich... one cucumber (traditional!), one curried egg and one smoked salmon and tomato and a tiny fairy sized egg and bacon quiche. There was then a warm scone with jam and cream and a selection of four petit fours, a lemon meringue cheesecake square, tiny banoffee pie, a choc dipped strawberry and a little choc mousse cup. I think they've probably got the quantity of food bang on, although savoury lovers like me may find this is one more appropriate for the sweet tooths of this world. There were just two teas available, Earl Grey and English Breakfast... both were a little underwhelming taste-wise. It was all wrapped up by 12:30 and we were the last group left sitting in the venue. While die hards may want to give this a go I won't bother going back.

I am often given a porcelain-ware coffee/tea cup, and the staff serve you with old/strong tea or coffee. Antiquteas is a breath of fresh air, it is delightfully decorated with tasteful furniture and, to my great relief, fine bone china tea cup and saucer set with matching side plate (Royal Albert to be precise). We had our own silver tea service with loose leaf tea. Later hot water was added to freshen our tea to extend our wonderful experience. The savoury and sweets selection was delicious. After speaking with the owner, the selections change daily depending on what she prepares, so I will definitely return. Thank you for getting it Right!

We've been here a few times for lunch and dinner, and it never disappoints! Yesterday we came here for coffee and cake, which was amazing ;) The menu is chock full of gluten free and vegetarian options - and they are fantastic choices, not just 'token' menu items (the vegetarian lasagne is to die for!). Their kids meals are great too, since they are all served with mash potato instead of the usual fries, making them a much healthier choice. There is a vast array of interesting desserts on offer too - yesterday I had the chocolate and orange cake, which included an array of nuts and seeds, and my partner had the sticky date pudding (possibly the best I've ever tasted!). They sell amazing protein balls too, which look incredible - I'm looking forward to coming back and having one next time ;) Nice wholesome food, which makes you feel like you are making a healthier choice! The setting is like an old-fashioned summerhouse - very charming and relaxing. Service isn't super-quick - they need extra staff during busier periods. I would have given them 5 stars, but their opening hours are a bit limiting (we usually dine out on Sunday nights), and they aren't opening on Saturday nights "at the moment" either (not sure if this will change in the near future?). Gawler Street in Port Noarlunga has become a bit of a foodie haunt - so while you're here, make sure you pop in to The Fleurieu Pantry!

They also support all different types of dietary requirements, including gluten free, vegan, raw and paleo. Once you make your way through the entry door at the end of the alley, the cafe opens out and up. It almost feels like a garden party at your eclectic aunt's house. It feels fun and buzzes with chatter and energy. Table service is friendly and attentive but not at all intrusive. As well as a menu of regular favourites, there is always a substantial specials menu. Vegan and gluten free options are well marked. The smoothies and juices come served in mason jars with handles and wide straws. The serve is large enough to have you sipping before, during and after your meal. Local favourite Goodiesons Beers are also available, as well as organic wine from Battle of Bosworth. The wait for meals is under ten minutes, even when it is very busy. To pass the time there are cookbooks to browse or card games on the tables to keep you entertained. Mr Wino's green curry looked really impressive, with fat, fresh prawns (tails on) and a mixture of black & basmati rice. The sauce was flavoursome with Thai basil, a hint of chilli and lime juice and the veggies still had bite. The Veggie Slice special was a frittata of sweet potato & zuchinni plus black rice. It was a large serve and tasty napped with a generous portion of basil sauce. The side salad was napped with tasty balsamic dressing and a crunchy seed & pepita mix. The choc-orange cheesecake is raw and vegan and totally delightful. A date & nut base gives way to a so smooth chocolatey interior and a rich choc-orange ganache scattered with cocoa nibs. Each time I have dined at The Fleurieu Pantry I have been impressed by it's garden party atmosphere, table service, luxe handwash & cream in the bathroom, eat local / low waste philosophy, vegan options and secret hidey-hole access way. There's a lot to love here.
