By the way, they include 18% gratuity for larger parties but never mentioned it. Not sure how large the party has to be to have this added on as I didn't see that printed on the menu. We were searching for a place to stop for dinner on our way home from Birmingham and my trusty old Yelp app lead us to this modish little restaurant. We started with the peach chipotle wings, which were as messy as they were delicious. My hubs ordered the etouffee. I couldn't decide what to order, so I opted to play it safe and go with the chicken alfredo. It was a good call because I enjoyed every bite, including the sauce and the bread. For dessert, we chose the white chocolate bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. My hubs said it was some of the best bread pudding he's ever had and I enjoyed it as well. The service was wonderful and the prices were reasonable. I wish we lived closer because I think this would be a perfect spot to chill on the patio with friends or pets, or friends and pets. read more

Walked in with my kids. I'm carrying the baby and 8 year old is standing next to me. We're waiting at the entrance for like 5 mins with not so much as a greeting or a "someone will be right with you." Made eye contact with the bartender, the cooks, and the server. Nothing. Finally someone says "have you been helped?" Like cmon girl, you saw me walk in, I made eye contact with you hella times, and you've seen us just waiting at the entrance. I said no. She said "I'll just get straight to the point. Inside is completely booked." (Even though there are hella empty tables). "But you can eat outside of you want." Soooooo, I visited Montgomery again and had to give this place another try - this time for brunch. By far, the best thing on the brunch menu is their pancakes and it's only for kids - depending on who your waiter is. They provided inconsistent messaging to me and our party. We saw pancakes throughout the restaurant and one child. So we asked our waitress why we were being treated differently. She went to speak with a manger and we ended up getting our pancakes for for free. It was the best thing we all ordered. So sad it's not really available. The steak was extremely over cooked, the crab cakes was mostly filling. Just not really good food (except the pancakes and that's for kids). read more

The Only complaint (with food) it that the sausage was not fully cooked in the shrimp and grits. 1 STAR on the service, we were sat immediately but waited 5 minutes b4 we knew our server, another 8 minutes before getting our drinks and 7 more minutes for food. A lot of time for a medium burgers After receiving my food (from the host not waitress) my husband had to get up find Salt pepper and hot sauce. NO ONE CAME BACK TO THE TABLE. I Ordered bottom less drinks but was only able to receive one. My daughter never received a refill to her lemonade nor did my husband get a refill on his sweet tea. 10 minutes to pay our tab. Solid place to go for a good meal and a drink. I stopped in, looking to grab the ribeye, but the burgers looked too awesome to pass up. I wasn't disappointed. The sweet potato fries were tasty, with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar that was a nice break from the usual seasoning places put on them. I washed it all down with two really tasty beers. The whole meal indicated that the owner and/or chef created a menu with pride, not just by following the corporate template. Great staff - they were friendly, competent, and attentive. Overall, it was nice to get away from the chain restaurant vibe and visit a truly local place. If you're looking for a place to grab a nice bite. I have been here several times for brunch and dinner. I love the chicken and waffles and also the fried green tomatoes.

Stopped in here on a Friday evening for an early dinner and it was a very enjoyable experience! I was surprised by how small it is. By 5pm it was getting busy and by 5:30 there was a wait, so get here early unless you're okay waiting. We started with the chipotle-peach wings, which had an excellent balance of the smokey-hot chipotle and the sweet peach, a great combination. For my main, I had the sunrise burger with Brussels sprouts as my side. The burger was tasty, though cooked slightly over my requested medium cooking. The real star was the Brussels sprouts. I've long loved Brussels sprouts but these were next level! They're roasted (or pan fried to charred state) with some sort of maple whiskey sauce, and were absolutely divine. Best I've ever had, for sure, I could eat those alone as my main course! For drinks, they offer a lot of classic cocktails, to include Pimm's Cup must to my jubilation, a classic I enjoyed a lot in English country pubs when I lived in the UK. The wine list is more extensive than most normal restaurants (read: not fancy steakhouses). Still, I recognized most of the wines on the red list, so nothing terribly unique, but good selection for their namesake. The beer selection is also great, featuring an expanded local-area selection. Pro tip: Don't forget to ask what's on tap! The beer menu you're given is their relatively-constant can/bottle selection as the beer on tap rotates frequently, so talk to your server about the current selection. Service was also great. Unfortunately I do not recall the name of the kind bearded gentleman who served us, but he was prompt and had great knowledge of the beers on tap, to include where they were from, and their characteristics to help you make a choice to your liking. It was a little hard to find but not impossible. Walked in and decided to eat at the small bar. The bartender suggested the Portabella Grilled Cheese. Wife had a chicken wrap. She got an order of fries and I got sweet potato fries. The biggest mistake was, we didn't realize how much food there was going to be. I came here yesterday with my family (during my husband's family reunion weekend). We came for Sunday brunch at the last minute and had a party of well over 20 people. I was very impressed with the service considering the overwhelming number of people in our party and the size of the restaurant (fairly small). I ordered the "Eggs Hemingway" which is basically a smoked salmon benedict. The hollandaise sauce was especially good. I could tell it was fresh, home made and not some packaged, powdered concoction. My husband ordered the crab cake benedict, which he also enjoyed. I am in Montgomery quite a bit and will make a point to visit this place more regularly. Eggs Hemingway (Benedict with smoked salmon) was also very good. Biscuits were toasted right, good quality and good amounts of salmon. Eggs were perfectly poached for Benedict. Seasoned right, didn't even have to add salt pepper. French toast was average. Good flavor but made with regular thick cut white bread. Pancakes were not good. Bland thick doughy. After the Alabama Bicentennial Parade we were looking for something to eat and came up with Cork & Cleaver. We arrived at opening time and were one of the first to get seated. From the outside it's located in a strip mall type setting, but is kind of on the back side. There is some outdoor seating available, but not today just a little on the cool side. Indoor seating is plentiful and they have a few curtains that it looks like they pull around so that they can section off some space for small events/parties. Our waitress got to us quickly and took our drink orders. The menu isn't huge, but has all the staples you'd want in a place like this. They have some sandwiches in the $10 - $15 price point range. They also have some entrees (that sound really good) that come in at greater than $20.00. All of us went with burgers, which kept it simple. I went with the Classic Cork Burger. This comes with 8oz pure Angus, romaine, tomato, red onion, pickle, chedder on a brioche bun. Additionally, I had them add bacon. Really, glad I did because otherwise it really was kind of bland. Not that it was bad, the patties are quite large and pretty juicy, just nothing really stood out with it. In addition to that a few people ordered the Cowboy burger. They all liked it, and the jalapenos added some kick to the burger. The problem with these were that the one my fiance ended up with was actually not cooked all the way. It was requested as medium well and came out at medium rare. Really way too under-cooked. They were nice and made it right, but it was a long wait for our food and we didn't really want to have to wait longer for a replacement. While we were there we noticed that they looked exceptionally under-staffed. Not sure if somebody called in sick, but the entire place was being handled by the one waitress. She was really doing a great job, considering the number of people that were there, but everyone was having to wait because it was far too crowded for one person to try and take care of. First, the dinner food here is GREAT! This would be a 5 star if by food alone. Absolutely delicious! However, the wait and the service was extremely lacking. We had a table of 4 on a Friday evening. We had a reservation. We were seated immediately. But, it took us 45 minutes to get our appetizers, and it was 2 hours after our reservation time before we received our food! If you enjoy your company and aren't super hungry, it is good. But, if you are hungry and have a sitter at the house, you are probably not happy. The service was quite lacking as well. We experienced, and also noticed other tables having trouble getting drinks refilled. They appeared to be under-staffed. The 2 cooks were struggling under the demand. The pork belly biscuits were to die for. So delicious, melted in your mouth. The Old Bay fries were good. The shrimp & grits were super good. The flavors of the cajun sauce, gouda cheese, the shrimp and the Conecuh sausage mixed together for a cajun delight. The fettucini alfredo was plentiful and perfection. The salmon was very good, but on the light side. My husband was still hungry after his plate of salmon served on top of squash veggies. Perhaps we will give this restaurant another try after people get back to work and maybe on a week night, but not any time soon. That's a bummer, because the food is delicious. read more
