In traveling the US, we've experienced some excellent meals and some not-so-great. YELP has always steered us well. Cork & Cleaver lives up to its rating and reviews. Excellent cuisine! I had the kale and avocado salad and added grilled salmon. It was perfect! My husband had the grilled pork chop with roasted veggies and instead of potatoes, he had their Brussel sprouts and kept commenting on how delicious everything was. I had a great brunch here with a group of coworkers. I got the breakfast sandwich which was recommended by the server and it was a great sandwich. We picked this location for our outing because of the bottomless mimosas. The mimosas were delicious. I would recommend not going during a peak time if you want the best service. We were on our way to Gulf Shores and decided to stay a night in Montgomery. We decided to try out the Cork & Cleaver for a late dinner and some cocktails. It's located on the back side of the shopping center, on the corner with plenty of parking. It's rather small on the inside, with an open kitchen and fresh plants on each table. We were seated immediately by the hostess who was also our server. I ordered the Old Fashion, based on a review I read, and my husband ordered the Cucumber Gimlet. Both cocktails were very good. My old fashion had a nice, orangey flavor but was cloudy - not sure what was in it to make it that way, but it was still a good version of the cocktail. We skipped appetizers and went straight for entrees. I had the bruschetta chicken with roasted potatoes and broccolini. The tomato and balsamic topping on the chicken breast was really tasty and there wasn't too much cheese, just the right amount - I hate it when places go overboard on the cheese! The chicken was a little on the dry/tough side, but that's common with chicken breast. I think a nice marinade would help, or pounding it flat before cooking. The roasted potatoes were perfect. My husband also ordered those and he agreed - nice and crispy on the outside. He ordered the filet, but subbed the Mac & Cheese since he can't have dairy. He said the filet had a really good flavor. First my friends and I had to wait 45 minutes to get sat because as soon as they open they had reservations only which made no sense...we finally sit down we get our drinks and we literally waited for a hour for breakfast food. One friend ordered conecuh tacos with no onions or peppers and it was pre mixed with those items and she wasn't satisfied...my shrimp and grits were okay the grits were very lumpy and way too much onion and peppers..and my other friend ordered a burger with fries well done and the waitress came over here with a attitude when I asked why 3 tables that got sat after us were given there food first...she blamed it on her well done burger and when it got to the table the egg was dirty from the griddle the burger was so well done it was burnt and had no flavor at all. This place is too expensive for the food to be like it is and the service to be so shitty.. everytime we said something wrong our waitress tried to justify why it was wrong...her name was Alexandra. Never tried to help just had an excuse everytime. This place and Coosa cleaver are too overrated and tastes and bad in service to be open. I will never be back to either place read more

Visiting Montgomery, had dinner outside on the patio tonight. We started with the Caesar salad, very good, I don't normally eat the croutons but these were awesome. My girlfriend had the Ribeye, and even well done it was great. Full of flavor and tender. I had the sirloin, very good. The star of the show though...THE RISOTTO! Holy mother of yummy side dishes! Wow, trust me, even if you order a dish not served with it, ask them to make it for you. Had a bottle of Resiling, excellent wine! Took creme brûlée and bread pudding to go for dessert. Omg! This is definitely now one of my favorite restaurants. This visit almost did not happen. I was coming into Montgomery from Tuscaloosa and the initial restaurant we were going to (La Jolla) was booked with reservations. They told us it would be over 2 hr wait (there were about six large tables empty) which is fine... should've called... but there were two stools at the bar that could've been put together... no one bothered to ask... so we googled and yelped and found this place...this restaurant was much more packed but the friendly staff encouraged us to wait as it would not be very long wait... we were also encouraged to wait at the bar if we wanted .... the bar was very comfy and the bartender (chris) was very attentive so we ended up eating there to let other groups get the tables. Food was incredible... prices were extremely reasonable and staff super friendly! Would definitely recommend!!! Oh did I mention the drinks! Epic! It's a must! read more

First and foremost, I love the staff here. They are so nice and welcoming from the time you walk in the door. Service is top notch. I like that it's a smaller facility it can still host a group. I had my birthday brunch there with about 8 people. I have eaten lunch (Seafood Macaroni & Cheese was tasty) and dinner, but my favorite is brunch. They have $14 bottomless mimosas and they are good mimosas. They don't try to cheat you on the champagne just because it's a deal. Shrimp and grits are pretty tasty and filling. A raw burger, raw and/or burnt brussel sprouts (not sure how that's even possible) and our food came out at different times. I feel as though something may have happened to their chef that night, and they enlisted the bus boys to cook. The owner and employees were very nice. But the food was not worth the $17.00 that I paid. The hollandaise Sauce was the pits. It was thick as paste and tasted terrible, tried to remove it from the food. Left a terrible after taste. Had to ask for a refill on the coffee, the potatoes were warm at best. I may wait a while and see if they get it together and try it again, but will leave the hollandaise sauce in the kitchen. read more

Beers I ordered never came. Took two bites and left it behind. Never got a chance to complain to my server because she never came back. Despite some of the negative reviews we went for lunch today and were very pleasantly pleased. The service was attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. My husband enjoyed the fish tacos and old bay fries and I ordered the beet salad with salmon. Both dishes were excellent, perfectly seasoned and the proteins came out hot and delicious. Seriously disappointed with the level of customer care. My friend and I met for lunch here today. He ordered a Cobb salad with salmon. After placing the order the server came back to the table to inform us the store had ran out of salmon. She suggested the trout for $2.00 more. He then asked if he could get the trout at the same cost as the salmon, since afterall the restaurant ran out. She declined at first and he requested to speak to management. To our surprise the manager declined and went on to say the "trout costs around $12 per pound and the salmon is significantly cheaper and that the restaurant is not going to eat the cost for him to have the trout." My friend then reiterated, for $2.00 the company would not eat the cost. He again stated no, we won't. I sat quietly and listened to the exchange, but told my friend we could leave, because in my opinion this is subpar customer service. We could have easily paid the 2 bucks, but it is the principle that matters. He never once apologized for not having the product which was ordered. After our food came out, the server never once returned, except to bring the check, hence her $1.00 tip. Pitiful... This is a place that I actually enjoy. I have brought clients, friends, etc here but today they have lost a customer, plus a potential returning customer. We truly felt undervalued, and I spend my money where I am appreciated. I live right around the corner and didn't realize this place had replaced Michael's Table--it is kind of hidden. I treated the office to lunch and they picked this place and I was pleasantly surprised. Four burgers were ordered, fish tacos, and an oyster po' boy plus loaded fries as an appetizer. My burger was perfectly cooked and tasted great with the onions, jalapeños, and sauce. Though the jalapeños could have been spread out a bit more over the burger. Others claimed they enjoyed their food. My side of fries were good but not as good as those ordered as an appetizer. A red cabbage slaw was enjoyed by others as a side along with sweet potato fries. We had excellent food, reasonable prices, and good service. I plan on taking my wife out for dinner some evening to see what their dinner menu is like and try a craft beer or two. read more

Eventually seated remaining 3, although wait staff almost provided adjoining table to another party. Ordered food which took a long time to receive. Most had finished meal prior to all in the party receiving their food (40 minute duration). Waiter apologetic and free meals and discounts offered. Food was OK. I hate leaving bad reviews and I don't think I've ever written less than a 3 star review on Yelp but holy cow....this is the worse service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. We had made a reservation well in advance for a party of 10 with no issues. Upon arrival the restaurant looks nice and food sounded delicious. Yes, we had 2 additional people join our group but they were able to rearrange the table with what seemed like no issue. After placing an order, we proceeded to wait 90 minutes for our food. Although I could deal with the delay in the food, what I cannot deal with is the sassy and snarky comments from both our waitress AND the manager!!! After about an hour we asked how much longer and we're told "oh well you have a large order and we only have 3 people in the kitchen". Hmmmm, it's a Saturday night and you knew we were coming.... finally at an hour and 15 minutes when our food starts to go up ok the counter, our waitress now intentionally continues to walk by our food for ANOTHER 15 minutes because she's salty we asked to see the manager. She also thanks the table next to us (who has been there for 20 minutes) for "being so patient" very loudly so we all could hear. We ended up paying for our drinks and leaving before our food arrived (who knew 2 hours wasn't enough time for dinner with a reservation?!). I don't mind if you are running behind but I do mind if you get an attitude and then act petty when we ask a reasonable question about how much longer the food will take. So sad read more
