Forget it... it's PACKED. That said, it's honestly such a great park. The walking path is a really good, not too short where it feels pointless but not exhausting either. The landscaping is beautiful and feels really well taken care of, which makes a big difference. The playground is a huge hit with my kids, and the pond with the ducks is always a highlight. It just has that easy, relaxing vibe. Bathrooms are clean, there's a nice pavilion, and tons of open space for picnics or just letting the kids run wild. The path is a very nice, leisurely walk with plenty of trees and plants and nature to discover. It also has a couple of bridges to walk over and benches to sit on along the way as you traverse through. There's a nice covered area with benches to sit and relax as you're enjoying the scenery surrounding you on the path. I thought the playgrounds were pretty cool. I love the soft, cushiony surface that the kids can run and play on. Parents don't have to worry about scrapes and bruises! The building for the restrooms looks nice, although I didn't venture inside to see what they're like. There's a small picnic pavilion that families and couples and friends can enjoy. Oh, and they have cool looking bike racks to lock your bike up if you choose! All in all a very nice gem to visit.

The sledding…read morehill looked fun, they have a bunny hill level for little tykes and the full hill for older kids. I'm definitely too mature for that myself, though. Okay, so I looked around at three local stores and they were all sold out of sleds apart from a wooden toboggan that was more costly than a nearby kayak. I'm blaming that on too many months of quarantine and joblessness. The trails are scenic and more extensive than the map led me to believe. I don't think it's to scale; the back 40 goes on for much longer than I figured. I'm glad I turned around when I did on my winter hike. Come springtime and warmer temps the whole northern expanse was just about the right amount of nature and exercise. I mainly did the southern circuit in the snow and the sweeping elevation changes and the train trestle over the Belle River were just lovely. Some of the trails could be better marked. On my winter visit I wasn't even sure if the park ended at a low clearance bridge where a road goes over the Belle River. Turns out more than half the park is past there and crossing the road seems to be the preferred way to get there, though the troll way seems more adventurous. There's some power lines with mowed grass that intersect some of the trails and it's unclear if that isn't also a trail. I don't think so but I got kind of lost at one point and tried to use that to double back and got caught up in some sogginess. If you stay close to the Belle River you shouldn't have that problem, though. I also wandered through some of the twisting mountain bike trails trying to find my way back. Just judging from being on foot they didn't look anywhere near as fun as the bike trails at River Bends. Ultimately I ended up using the Google maps on my phone to get back to where I needed to be. There's equestrian trails here, too, and a nice clubhouse with restrooms, vending machines, picnic tables and pamphlets for this and other parks in St. Clair county. This is a quiet, laid back park but I don't think I'd drive too far out of my way to get here.

Rotary Park is one of my favorite places to go in Sterling Heights. It honestly feels like you're a…read morethousand miles away, even though it's right around the corner. I love walking the trails because there's always something new to see, from the river views to all the wildlife and beautiful scenery. It's peaceful, relaxing, and a great place to clear your mind and enjoy nature. Every time I visit, I'm reminded what a hidden gem this park really is. Never disappointed! I finally stopped in this park nearby My home to walk around the sidewalk paths, take photos to help others see so they can visit and enjoy it too. It is located on 49699 Romeo Plank. a 1/4 mile North of 22 Mile Rd. The park was created on 1.4 acres of donated land from a previous resident. It has a unique fenced in area with a membership key entrance called Pitchford Dog Park. The history story of Pitchford Park was named after a family of long time and now deceased residents that generously donated the land in 2021 to use to create a park using their last name of Joe Kay and Pamela Pitchford. Their parents were Bill and Joyce along with brother Todd who loved nature and the community of Macomb Township. Since I drive a few times a week on Romeo Plank Road, it was interesting to watch the reconstruction of the land to create now a community park. There are plenty of parking spots throughout the different areas of activities too. My photos attached show the entrance, trees, shrubs, flowers, tennis and pickleball courts, playscape areas, picnic tables and restrooms too. The newest attraction is a Dog Park for residents and non-residents with a fee and key to enter to use the areas for dogs to run and play with each other or their owners. Coming soon will be a Butterfly Exhibit in the Spring of 2025. For more information and registration to the Pitchford Park call: (586) 992-2900 and ask for director Sal DiCaro x 2800. Dog Park Fee: Residents $40.00 Non-Residents $56.00 Seniors $25.00 Non-Resident Seniors $35.00 Your Dog must have a license first to apply. They have an empty tank with a walk through underneath. They have another fish tank for a turtle. They also have an enclosure for another turtle as well. We saw a snake, gecko, and toad. We saw some bugs and tarantulas. They also have a table with sand for a sand box. They have a seated area with toys, books, and puppets. They have another table for snack time or coloring. The trash is right there to clean up afterwards. They do have a walk area outside and hike trails. They also have a table outside if you'd like to eat around nature.
