I chose the Teaneck NJ office and was lucky enough to be assigned to Dr. Lee Angioletti . First off the Center is very professional and courteous. From sending me the New Patient forms ahead of my visit to fill out, to the staff at the check in desk. From the 3-4 technicians that saw me, tested me, took scans of my eyes to the final visit with the doctor, just top notch. And as for Dr Angioletti, I could tell from the minute I meant him he was special. From his smart appearance to the calm demeanor in the way he explains everything in layman's terms. He is a special, down to earth, soothing specialist. I have to admit I was getting a bit nervous what with all the tests they were giving me. But his diagnosis based on all of this data was heartily welcomed. I recommend the Retina Center and HIGHLY recommend you try & see him. I'm the type that goes to his docs regularly and once I find one I really like, stay with them. ( dentist: 27 years; Internist:30 years; ophthalmologist: 25 years.) However, after the appointment was made, I was told that he is not accepting new patients and was reassigned to a PA without proper notice or discussion. This experience felt misleading and disrespectful to me as a patient. If Dr. Kim is truly unavailable to new patients, that information should be made clear on the website before appointments are scheduled. Patients should also be notified in advance and given the choice to reschedule rather than having the provider changed automatically.

Dr. David S. Chu. - Review - St. Mary's Eye and Surgery Center…read more I went to Dr. Chu for DMEK and Cataract surgery. Dr. Chu was recommended highly. He is assisted by a staff of surgical coordinators, who handles arrangements, forms, and medications prior to and after the surgery. I completed the exam regiment and had an appointment for the surgery. Everything I needed was ordered and arrived in a timely fashion. All the documentation I received were pertinent and accurate using the very latest techniques in DMEK and Cataract surgery. I had a pre Laser session which went well. Time was spent explaining techniques and procedures. The pre surgery exam was extremely complete and through, nothing was missed. All scheduling was timely and there was little or no waiting. The surgery went without a flaw and I hardly noticed the procedure. I am now in the recovery mode, having returned for an initial exam, I am pleased to say that all is good. I would give Dr. Chu my highest recommendation as well as his staff. I will add to this at a later date as I have received updated techniques not available in 2020 when I had that same procedures done on my other eye. While St. Mary's may not be a big as NY Eye and Ear it certainly does a better job.

Dr. Esperon and Dr. Capstick are fantastic. They are genuinely good people who are also stars in their profession. They take the time to explain things in plain English and I never feel rushed. A year ago I suffered an eye injury shortly before a business trip. I was worried about flying with my injury and being on the west coast in case my eye got worse. Dr. Esperon gave me his personal cell so I could call him at any time. He also found a colleague out west that I could see in case of an emergency. It's this type of personalized care that keeps me coming back to Focus Eye Care.

I showed up, and....drum roll.... NO Dr Esperon. Front desk staff just looked dumbfounded. I showed all the texts and confirmations. They had no words. I swore I'd quit right then, but I rescheduled. The automated system did accuse me of cancelling my appointment without proper notice quite a bit. Classy. Next time I went I brought my little kids to show them how a OD office worked so they wouldn't be scared. The pretesting went fine, BUT 90min later I had to walk out. The front desk staff were apologetic, but I could tell they've done that before with patients. They made no attempt to let me know there was a wait. If you don't value your time, you'll be seen eventually.

I walked in and they were already expecting me- paperwork took a minute and they checked on me to make sure I was okay. I didn't have to wait long before the doctor saw me. He checked my eye very thoroughly and reassured me that my eye was fine, I had just gotten something in my eye that had irritated it intensely. He wanted to make sure I was okay, and asked me to stock around the plaza for 15-20 minutes and follow up before I left. The salesperson/secretary was extremely helpful and compassionate both on the phone and in person. She made me feel ask much better about my "emergency" lol The doctor was busy but had a great attitude and remembered my name (if I had to see a new patient every half an hour...I wouldn't remember anyone's name). He was very nice about checking my eye again when I felt a pain and was very thorough in examining and cleaning my eye of irritants. I'm so glad I decided to go, and they accepted my insurance so I only paid the specialist copay. Also I noticed they only booked a patient every half hour- not over booking is key to quality service. Unfortunately, the eyeglass prescription I received was dated to expire on the very same day of my appointment. This basically made the prescription unusable. Maybe it was a mistake or oversight. Given the comments from the optometrist, however, I am given to feel that it may have been intentional. Whatever her personal feelings, I do not feel that I got what I paid for. It also seems to speak of a shortfall in professionalism, as this was her work product.

How the hell does THAT make any sense?? Basically, this doctor only cares about what goes into his pocketbook and doesn't stand behind his work at all.
