Firstly, I want to thank the staff whom are very professional and nice. The ladies that work there are very accommodating. I was given an appointment the next day for which I was very grateful. Dr. Polishchuk dilated my eyes And I've had them dilated before but he seems sort of rough in his manner, not gentle. His diagnosis was partially on point. I should really thank him because of my experience with him which was not all that great and hence I decided to go back to my original surgeon for a second opinion at Columbia Doctors. He did not even question me about driving after my eyes were dilated or wearing sunglasses, like not concerned. Sometimes it's the little things. But in a way it all worked out because I did have at least a provisional ICD 10 diagnosis to be seen more timely by my original surgeon who performed successful (cataract surgery in 2017) on both my eyes respectively. The point is, she actually assessed through more testing that the diagnosis was applicable to both eyes not just the one eye even though it was worse in the right eye. Danielle Trief, MD Assistant Professor at Columbia University Medical Center did much more extensive testing by far. This was a week after I saw Dr. P on Clawson Avenue. At the same appointment she performed a laser procedure which cleared up my entire vision in the right eye which was worse than the left which was the "good eye" now the "bad eye". The procedure was painless and within a few hours I could miraculously see perfect in that right eye. In layman's terms the lens implant needed to be "polished" as this can commonly occur over time. I am going to have the left eye done in two weeks. My point is that unless it's an emergency which was fortunately not the case here, me personally, I would get a second opinion. Was it a major pain in the ass to go into Manhattan? Absolute torture yes, but hey you only have one pair of eyes.

I was not a candidate for LASIK according to some of the diagnostic tests I had gotten. Dr Ray listened to all of my concerns and told me exactly what to expect. Don't shop around for discount prices, these are your eyes and you only get one pair. The office and staff are amazing and Dr Ray is one of the best in the business, I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in an evaluation for corrective options.

The consultation was super helpful, they gave him a clear idea of what to expect and answered all his questions. The consultation was maybe 30 minutes, and the actual procedure didn't feel long at all, maybe 15 minutes tops. Afterwards, his eyes felt a little sore and sensitive, kind of like having something in your eye, but not unbearable. The soreness started easing up after a couple of days, and he experienced little hemorrhage. It had taken about 1-2 weeks to fully clear up. Nothing too crazy though--it all felt very manageable! He's so happy to not have to deal with glasses getting dirty, scratched up, heavy on his nose bridge or fogged up. He feels free and His eyesight is now 20/15.

To my surprise the doctor was trying to save me a trip and not come in - however I wanted to get checked. When I did come in the service and care for my concerns was discouraging and I lost a trust for even going back to them for my concerns. The doctor set me up for a follow up for "a month or two" which left me to pick the date. They never called to confirm my appointment which was odd for them - which also showed me that I no longer felt comfortable going to this person. I will give a 2 only because the other staff was nice and helpful and for lasik surgery it is a good price.

Life changing! If you are looking for a sign, this is it!! I've been wanting laser eye surgery for…read moreawhile now but never qualified until recently (combined with a fear of going blind from surgery). Idk what changed in me but it was like a light switch went off where I was so tired of glasses/contacts and tired of being legally blind (-8.5 with astigmatism). It was impacting my quality of life yall. I came here for a free consultation where they run lots of exams on you, the whole thing took 2 hours. Turns out I only qualified for PRK cause my corneas were too thin. Which honestly made it easier for me cause I did a lot of research and I didn't know if lasik or smile would've been better. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say how much the pricing was (some businesses get sensitive about that on yelp) but my insurance was able to give a discount and I paid with my HSA so it felt "free". Worth every penny. What also made me feel more confident about the surgery was that my surgeon, Dr.Beyer has a LOT of experience. He was on the team of surgeons that conducted the world's first PRK surgery. So it doesn't get better than that yall. FYI, this place doesn't prescribe xanax or anything. You have to go through your PCP for that. Luckily I didn't need it even though I have anxiety disorder. I was so excited to get this surgery that I was not nervous at all during the actual operation day. Think about it this way. Its a common procedure and you have a higher chance of getting bit by a shark than complications from this surgery. Also, whatever you believe in, have FAITH. Things will turn out okay and you know what's actually scarier than the near impossible chances of going blind? Death. Honestly, nothing is scarier than dying. Maybe that's too morbid but we are much stronger than we think we are- no reason to be nervous! It's been a couple months since my surgery and I have 20/15 vision! The only side effects is dryness which is normal so just be liberal with the eye drops. But the surgery is super fast! A few minutes per eye (the actual laser itself is like 13 seconds for me). My eyes will continue to stabilize over the next few months but I'm so glad I don't have to worry about glasses/contacts anymore when I travel, dance or surf. They say PRK is a longer healing process and more painful but it wasn't too bad for me. The only pain I had was the first night after surgery. I woke up in excruciating pain but I popped some OTC ibuprofen and was fine. Never had any other pain since. My vision was blurry the first couple weeks so it was lowkey hard to do work but my workplace understood and I took it easy. I could barely make out what was on my phone and computer for the first few days. Small sacrifice for a new life!

Apparently Corneal Associates (Omni Eye Services) are now outsourcing their customer assistance to India! Huh!? Not surprised. Good luck calling the office with a question or concern. It's impossible to get through to the front desk! hahahaha what a joke. Took me an hour on the phone with the call center in India just to request a copy of my eye Rx and they sent the WRONG one! There seems to be no way to speak with someone actually in the American office. I've got an important question for my Dr and I'm just stuck!! Such a shame. Go elsewhere if you can! Trust me November 2023: I am disgusted by how I was treated by Dr Perl at my latest visit: After twice ignoring a question I asked about a lump I recently found growing on my eyeball, I said to Dr Perl, "i would appreciate it if you did not ignore me" Dr Pearl responded by throwing his hands in the air and loudly yelling at me, "I'm trying to work!" I replied, "I'm your patient. I'm asking you an important question and you just keep IGNORING me..." And then, strangely, Dr Perl threatened, "Do you want me to leave!?" After which he got up and stormed out, without finishing with my examination or answering my questions about my lump. I was mortified and embarrassed by Dr Perl's behavior, though not at all surprised, to be honest. I have been coming to Corneal Associates for almost 10 years. In this time, Dr Perl has always engaged me with a simmering disdain and with only the bare minimum of respect and acknowledgement. His consistent disrespect (of ME specifically) is suspect, since I often also hear him delighting and delighted with other patients (especially young women). What is it about me that elicits such behavior from him, that leads him to believe he has the authority to do so? I think I know This behavior is unacceptable coming from a child on the playground - it is REMARKABLE coming from my doctor. It reflects so poorly on Omni Eye/Corneal Associates who clearly support and condone this behavior by not clearly condemning it. What a shame. Look elsewhere for eye care professionals who respect equally everyone - always - regardless of race, gender, insurance coverage, or any other incidental difference. Do better Dr. Theodore Peel and Corneal Associates/Omni Eye
