The Corner Pub is located on Simonton and N. Main St. (oddly enough on a corner... ha!) in the heart of downtown Conroe. It's a classic watering hole and the perfect place to cool off with a cold beer and maybe grab a sandwich or salad. It is not only a great place to eat and enjoy a Top Texas Craft Beer, but also a wonderful entertainment venue featuring up-and-coming Texas musicians, comedians and poets. There are also a number of flat screens so you can catch that sporting event you've been looking forward to. The historic building which is now the Corner Pub was built in 1911 after the Great Conroe Fire of that year destroyed most of the town. After the tragic event, only three buildings - all made of brick - were left standing: the courthouse, the bank and the Conroe hotel. When I first walked into the Corner Pub, I knew right away it was my type of place. The high, vaulted ceilings bring you back to the time when this area was rebuilding and trying to get back on its feet. Come to find out, when doing some renovations they discovered the original ceilings. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a local favorite - Bombshell Blonde Ale from Southern Star Brewing Company. The Corner Pub has a number of great craft beers to choose from as well as a full bar if you want something with a bit more kick. You can see how cool the place is by looking at the photography. The bar staff and the locals we met were all very friendly and we enjoyed our conversations. After our beers, we went to the deli which is in another room in the same building. I asked what the local favorites were and we decided to get just that. We ordered the Summer Salad, the Reuben and the Club Sandwich. The Summer Salad was the perfect choice for a light lunch: spinach, strawberries, almonds, feta cheese and raspberry vinaigrette. The strawberries were so sweet - the perfect complement to the feta cheese and vinaigrette dressing. Loved it! Next, we split the sandwiches. The Reuben was a hot sandwich composed of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing stacked between two grilled slices of rye bread. The sauerkraut was great and the corned beef? Delish! The Club Sandwich consisted of sliced ham and turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on toasted bread. This classic sandwich was prepared well and tasted nice and fresh. It's tough to say which one I liked best as they were both good; you can't go wrong with either choice. We enjoyed our visit to the Corner Pub and the friendly chats with the locals we met. I look forward to my next trip to the Conroe area. Next time, I'll stop by at night to watch a live band perform. Good food, good people, good times, what more do you need? Today was my first jury experience in Conroe. When the judge gave us a lunch break several of us walked down to The Corner Pub. Not knowing what to have we each got different sandwiches. All were very good and I especially enjoyed my Pub Sub ! But that's not all. While we were eating, the sky opened up and rain poured down so hard we could hardly see across the street. We had about 15 minutes to get back to court and none of us had an umbrella . I got the idea (and the nerve) to ask the manager for trash bags . Thankfully she said yes and gave one to each of us. Problem solved, mission accomplished!!! We made it back to the courthouse in time ! I'll definitely be back. Thanks for the great lunch and the top notch customer service !!!!! read more

Visited this location twice. Its an old tyme ecclectic atmosphere located in downtown Conroe; a few hundred foot walk from the theatre. The staff was cordial & friendly, no room to feel uncomfortable. The bar top was clean! Thats a plus for me. I do not enjoy putting my arm or elbow in water or sticky stuff. Their menu is limited to sandwiches and salad. An awesome choice of bread! I had the roast beef on rye and my friend had the BLT. Oh my goodness! The rye was so fresh and the roast beef was very tender. The BLT was good - not stingy on the ingredients. The restroom was very clean. There was a live 4 piece band playing on stage - they played at a level that you can actually speak to the person next to you or across from you and we were sitting 2 tables back. I visited the Conroe Corner Pub today and was pleasantly surprised. If you're not a local it is good to know that you must walk into the back of the restaurant to order, there is no waiter service. So after glancing over the simple lunch menu I decided to go with the French Dip, an old time favorite. My coworker went with the turkey club, I believe. A couple things to note about their lunch: 1.All lunches come with chips, broccoli slaw or tomato soup. This may change throughout the season. Simple enough side choices. I choose chips, because I was a little hesitant about this place in the beginning. Notice, I said in the beginning. 2. All lunches are served by default with iced tea. Now, living in Texas for three years now, I know all Texans love themselves some iced tea. If you want something else to drink, look to your right and choose a soda can out of their fridge. 3. When we were delivered our lunch roughly 10 minutes later, I was excited!! This French Dip was delicious! The portion of meat was spot on, and looked like it had come from a local deli, seasoned well on a wonderfully toasted hoagie. The au jus was just as spectacular. I'm not going to lie, I didn't even ask my coworker how his sandwich was because I was so busy eating mine. Places like this need to be talked about more. I believe the Corner Pub Deli just recently opened for their lunch and if you live in Conroe or anywhere near it and want to try out a cute, local, deli for lunch, I would do so! By the looks of it, this place is mostly a bar and they have live entertainment at night. If I was staying here longer, I would definitely mosey on down to the Corner Pub to see what was happening. This place has an awesome atmosphere and very friendly staff. They have open mic night on Tuesday's (maybe other nights but I'm not sure) and it was great. The talent they had there was amazing. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. We walk in and get applauded which was extremely awkward. We wait about 10 minutes and we finally get service and we decided to close out and go across the street to red brick because of how terrible we were treated. Well the bartender was extremely rude and wouldn't even close my friends tab because it was 2$. Not only did she lose us 2 as customers, but we had 4 people next to us that were new and were shocked at how they were treated. They even commented to us about how they'll never come back. Great place! Located in one of the original old buildings on the downtown Conroe square. It has a great feel to it the minute you walk in! A well known local musician, Jeremy Bankhead, heads up the open mic nights every Tuesday and it is always a good time! Prices are good & the drinks are even better! Highly recommend. read more

We went to so many pubs. We just dont care what its called at each pub. Every bar has a different name for specific drinks. So we dont need to remember the name of the drinks but the bartenders. If they dont remember the name, its not our problem, correct? We just need to describe the drink we want. There you go, make me my drink for god sake. I ordered lunch today from this place, a Reuben. The sandwich itself was just OK nothing special, but the side of potato salad was horrible. It was warm and sour and an odd color of yellowish green! I received my cup of ice to get some sweet tea and the ledge was covered in ants!!!! I will not be ordering from here again $10.23 for a sandwich is crazy!!!!!
