I had not been to Sam's since they moved across the street a few years ago. As a customer I went for some colored pencils and the staff was extremely helpful in finding items for a gift. I was walked by a staff member to several areas of the store and items to choose from were placed in my hands while the staff member explained the features and made recommendations. The level of customer service and help is something you don't commonly see in retail stores these days. The store has a tranquil vibe which makes it fun to browse the many gift items. Their stock is unique in that they carry a breadth of items that are high quality at a range of prices. You can spend a lot of time here finding inspiration and treasures. They offer art classes and during the Christmas season they offered free make and take craft classes. They had a small cardboard 'house or cottage' setup inside the store with tables stocked with all the supplies you needed for that weeks's free project. This was not just for kids. My friend and I had fun making gift tags the day we were visiting the store. The store is beautiful inside and out. The beautiful murals that cover the outside walls echo the beauty and fun you will find inside the store. Since they are popular the parking lot can get pretty full.

Everyone knows the attention a customer can get when he comes in with a big job. However I had but…read morea small job, moving and reattaching the hanging wire for a large painting -- only a ten minute special, but very important to me because of my wife's concern that this picture must be hung by Christmas. So what was a small job in terms of the work required was super important to me that I find someone who would get it done correctly. When I waked into Frame Masters Gallery, right at the height of the holiday busy season, I was anxious that this might not be possible. My blessed luck was to meet Christina Martin, who sensed the urgency i was feeling, and dropped what she was doing and immediately began to effect my repair. Few owners have this sense of being able to see how important a job -- even a little job -- can be to a customer, and respond accordingly. I was able to depart after a very short interval with my redone painting, and with the warmest possible feelings of gratitude and appreciation for Christina super "pro-customer" behavior.

The store is small but has ton of art. I'm very particular with what I like, and it's hard to find, but to my amazement I was able to find a few original pieces on canvas. We went to Baterby's after we saw their Picasso exhibition in the Orlando Weekly calendar. I hadn't…read morepreviously seen the gallery pop up when I searched for art spaces in the area but I've made sure to add it to my list after this visit! We thought it would be smaller and only gave ourselves a little time to be there but the collection was huge! The Picasso set in particular was such a delight, it's so exciting to have the opportunity to see work from someone like him right here in Orlando! We planned to spend a half hour, and 2 hours later we were forcing ourselves to leave because there was still more to look at! The art expert was a delight and answered all our questions and more, really adding to the experience for us. The art expert was also the one who put together the written pieces throughout the exhibit explaining different themes and techniques in the Picasso set and they were all excellent; she had already answered so many of our questions that had arisen naturally from our viewing in the pieces; that's great curating! They were also having a warehouse sale which we are already making plans to try and return for, as well as their next exhibition which is a large set of all original paintings from the last living pupil of Picasso, which will at first be interspersed with some of the current Picasso pieces on display. While we were there they were actually painting the interior wall with a pattern inspired by the work of the coming exhibition, which was really cool to see some behind-the-scenes creative curating at work! I'm definitely adding this great spot to my list of Orlando galleries and museums to frequent. It's places like this that help Orlando become an artistic and cultural center on the world map!
