2 years at Cornerstone and now it's time to leave my review. My boyfriend and I just recently moved last month from these apartments and moved in with family. I want to start off by mentioning the pros here because I do believe there are more pros then cons. Hence the 4 stars. The apartments are very spacious. We rented a 1 bedroom and it was way bigger then our last at Kirker Creek. Our unit came with a washer and dryer which was awesome and pretty decent appliances. Another plus with them is that there is a huge storage room on every patio/balcony. It really came in handy and fit all our stuff. The staff was always very friendly and nice. I don't think there was a single person there that I didn't like. Despite the busy shopping center across the street, it's pretty quite on the complex, I've never really had any complaints about noise. Now here is some of the bad news, first I'll have to mention the rent prices. Of course it's the east bay area and most places are expensive, but I don't think it's worth the price. Our rent when we first moved in was $1225. After a year they raised it to $1375. Then this year towards the end of our lease, they tried to raise it to $1540 (all not including water or any other utilities). We got an offer from my sister to move into one of their spacious rooms for much cheaper so being that I have been busting my ass working 2 jobs and my boyfriend working just to live paycheck to paycheck to afford this place, we couldn't turn this offer down. After telling them of our plan to leave they offered to only raise our rent to $1475, which was nice but $100 dollar more a month can pay for water, pg &e and part of cable. So no thank you. But that's not even why I gave them 1 less star. I would have given them 5 however, one thing that really annoyed me was their way of timing. When we need maintenence to come, they would always say, "oh they'll be there sometime between 9 and 5." Never giving us a definite time. This drove me insane. Not only did they do this for that but also for their monthly sprinkler inspections. At least narrow the time frame down alittle. Then when we wanted to be present for our pre move out inspection, again they say "sometime between 9 and 5." So I had planned to take the day off of work because I wanted to be there. Unfortunately I couldnt, however when I called later that day, they stated that they didn't even do the pre move out inspection on that day and they will do it the next day. I was glad I didn't take the day off and lose out on some money because they have poor sense of timing/appointment setting. I know this may seem minor or stupid but I really hate when people can't get a sense of time or set a specific time and just be there. I think this place would really benefit from making appointments rather then being there sometime between 9 and 5. Overall, if you can afford it, it's not a bad place to live and definitely has some nice features to it. read more

For the past few months, I have put in maintenance orders to have my toilet fixed, the blinds replaced, and my sink fixed. Whenever I put in a maintenance request, Eugene would fix the issue. If I could give negative stars I would. I have been in this apartment for 3 days and they leased me a cockroach infested apartment. Very unprofessional. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. Told them about it day one. And there reply was I'm sorry will send someone out next week. What the fuck kind of reply is that. Would the property manager sleep in a cockroach infested unit? If you looking for an apartment that has CONSTANT WORKING air conditioning THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOUR FAMILY! It has been 100 degrees outside for the past 5 days . This is the 4th time my air conditioner have been broken since I've moved in here last September. Don't rely on the office to send out anyone to fix it. I've been waiting for 5 days NOTHING! I'm pregnant it's 2:00 am and 80 degrees in this apartment. We have to get a hotel tonight to prevent me from going to the emergency room. The office have been ignoring emails and phone calls. The emergency after hours operator is RUDE non professional and sounds like she's a HEAVY drug user. She needs to be fired. I'm the wrong person to mess with and this will be a fight. Upset is an understatement. Let me be late on my rent (which we never have) we will have a 30 day notice on our door by the 5th. They want their money but do NOT provide service when needed. This place also have roaches! Infested from the first day we moved in. They sprayed and we haven't seen them for awhile now there back. It's ridiculous $1600 rent to live with roaches. The apartments themselves are nice, laid out quite well. Location wise, it's not the best part of Pittsburg, but it's not the worst. The 'shopping' isn't great and I rarely shop at any of these places, let alone walk to them. Because the complex is surrounded by huge parking lots on 3 sides, you will hear a lot of people using these big open spaces for doing wheelies and firing their guns at 2am on occasion. This place allows dogs too, which might be good for some people, but if you don't like barking dogs, beware. Once this allowance went into effect, the barking... god, the barking. Despite all this, it's a relatively good and quiet place to live. I've never had much problems and there's no section 8 so your neighbors tend not to be complete deadbeats. The management on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. Just keep in mind the on site management staff changes often, and the corporate management is detached and can be completely unreasonable. After 6 years of living here, including them having some of our property stolen from their office which they refused to compensate us for (don't let them sign for your packages), they treat us with no respect and don't seem to care whether we stay or go. They regularly raised our rent over the years, then decreased it for one year only to raise it again. If it weren't for the theft issue and their completely unprofessional handling of it (and then only to be met with a rent increase not a month later!), I would give this place a higher rating. But the management is so shifty and unreliable, I'd still recommend since it's generally a decent place to live, but know what you're getting into on the business end. The on-site staff are just sales people and recently have been having a high turn over rate. Another little annoyance, is this place does not cover anything, you have to pay for your water and sewer, which is about $25 a month for me. So add that to your monthly expense when you're considering the rent cost. (Which will go up. Trust me.) read more

Not a bad place to live, but certainly not worth the ever increasing price nor the now $200 dollar late fee. The pool is often murky and now children are in the parking lot unattended. This feels like a money grab for these people, don't really care about residents. They take advantage of Contra Costa's hatred of renters, there are no protections in this county. There are cheaper places to live that are as nice, but not as close to Bart. I'd say this is a decent short term place to live, but if you stay past a year ... you end up over paying. Wild that they increased the rent as soon as the pandemic was over when residents weren't able to access amenities during that time BUT STILL PAID FOR THEM WITH THIS HIGH ASS RENT, and they have the nerve to increase and will continue to do so. There cost to manage went down during the pandemic, but not out rent when the amenities were no longer accessible.They really should have management open on Saturdays to monitor the pool use given people leaving food and waste in it, and since we have to pay this high ass rent they should be available for those of us with alternative work schedules. read more

Cornerstone is nice. We haven't been here for quite a year, but I found the reviews of apartments to be quite helpful when I was searching so I thought I'd leave my piece for those apartment hunters. The price of housing has gone up drastically, everywhere. When we first started our search in January 2015 average rent for a 1 bedroom was $1500.00. In October 2015 it had gone up to $1600.00. When we found Cornerstone the price range was still at $1500.00, so being the cheapest with all the amenities we could find, we signed a lease. Rent increase is standard and expected. I read the lease agreement and I know it could go up by $200.00, but I'd rather pay my $1500.00 than$2300 which is what my friend currently pays for a similar apartment in South San Francisco. That being said, the amenities are well kept. If you have a problem, report it timely, they will fix it. We haven't had problems with any staff, in fact we love the community events they put on for kids. It's a nice little community. Convenient, has garages and pet friendly - we are very happy to be here. **Updated after we moved out** We cleaned the apartment but were still charge a full cleaning fee. I negotiated with the apartment manager noting that the place was left in immaculate condition. They reduced the cleaning fee for us- but I feel like it would've been non-negotiable had we not taken photos of the apartment upon move-out to prove how clean we left it. I feel like the cleaning crew automatically charges the company cleaning fees despite whatever condition the apartment is actually left in (simply to gain profit). So protect yourselves. Other than that, the move-out process was easy, painless and we didn't break the bank. We did break the lease and didn't get our deposit back since we had to technically pay for the days the apartment was left unrented. Be careful if you break the lease... we lucked out and only had to pay about 2 weeks worth of unpaid rent, but others may not be so lucky.. read more

I lived here six years. Cornerstone was a very nice place to come home to. The office staff was very friendly and kind including the maintenance staff both on site and off. The only reason I moved was due to the abnormal rent increase in the past year and a half. Several tenants had to move out. I had a one bdrm, rent was $1,065, last year increased to $1,358, this year iincreased to $1,475, all including water and sewer. This in reality is a 2 bedroom house payment. I had to commute to work. I moved from the bay area in order to pay less rent for a nice apartment and deal with the outrageous commute. There were middle age to senior citizen tenants when I moved in. Quiet, clean environment; this year I noticed drug baggies in the parking lot, lots of noise and younger tenants cursing. The apartments are very nice. The community is nice. The biggest problem is the office. The Property Manager, I believe her name is Maryanne, has to be one of the rudest people I've ever met. The other staff in the office seems to focus on the residents but Maryanne treats residents as if we are a burden. She has also made up rules and policies that the other office staff either are unaware of or don't enforce. If you can somehow manage to navigate your way around her, then you will enjoy living at Cornerstone. Lastly, the follow-up on service calls could use some prioritizing and the weight room doesn't provide a means for sanitizing equipment as most would appreciate and as the list of rules posted says is required... read more

I have lived here for 2 years. Very noisy place rent increases 100.00 each year, roaches, mice run across the balcony. Our car windshield was stomped in by someone but the cameras did not work. We were informed by the the manager that the camera does not capture or pick up well because the area it's pointing in is very dark. That's an unacceptable answer. The only good thing is that they will respond to your inquires ASAP but never fix the problems. We rented a garage from them which started at 100.00 per month. well 3 months after we rented that garage, the rent of the garage increased to 140.00. That's totally unacceptable as well. We kept our place very nice and clean but when it was time to move out, we were charged to re-paint the place. We left no holes in the walls or doors. The carpet still looked new everything was clean and working as it was when we moved in. We have no little children just myself and my husband. Please note that when you move in they will not charge you water of garbage for the first two months. They will charge it at the end so that will suck up about 240 of your deposit. Cornerstone wouldnt be such a bad place if they didnt go up on rent so fast. My family and i moved out here from alameda consider there isnt much rent control anyway due to increases in rent. While looking we came across cornerstone which had all the amenities i looked for but after being here just one year my rent went from 1590 to 1670 not including water and garbage that they forgot to mention before signing the lease. For what you pay things really arent that updated. I know you may have washer and dryer, pool, gym etc but adleast give people some upgrades for what you charge. I kid you not only been here 1 year and i swear adleast 30 people have moved . Ridiculous right. So my advice is to be prepared financially cause rent goes up every year. Then they dont even give you sufficient amount of time if you want to sign again or leave. If we didn't sign another year for our 2 bedroom, choosing on a month to month would have been 1920 verses 1710 crazy. So be wise when choosing cornerstone apartments.... read more

I living here the last 5 years, and since i moved at this apartment the first friendly persons who i know was the staff from the office. They are very nice, very respecful , the manager mariann she atent all my needs in my apartment to have a good place to live. Actually i still getting a good service. Nancy angelica are very good staff too. Always respond my calls when something happen in my apartment and the mantenance guy do very good job. I very happy to live here. Is quiet and clean. Move-in review, I recently moved into this complex and the application and move-in was quite smooth. I had a number of misc. issues that needed to be addressed form a warped window frame to a missing entry door sweep that was probably removed when they replaced the flooring and all were taken care of in one day. None of the issues were unreasonable for standard issues when moving into a previously lived in apartment. The Rental and Maintenance staff were all pleasant and professional. The location is close to highway 4 and the shopping center is ok. I choose to shop 5 miles elsewhere and don't anticipate a change. I wish the gym hours were longer I would use them instead of 24Hour but there is a nice gym available. If you are looking for a quiet temporary (1 to 3 years) spot to use a springboard from, I recommend this location. I will review again after my 6th month of residence. read more

I moved to Pittsburg when I got out f the Army from being in Germany but am originally from SoCal so i had no idea about the bay area. But Cornerstone was a great place to live. It was always quiet and i never had any issues with anyone or anything. Seemed like they kept up with all the cleaning and maintenance throughout the complex . Was always clean. Was nice place to have my small dog and tenants were good about picking up their dogs poop.my only complaint would be that my car space was kind of far from my front door but not a big deal. The front office was always respectful, nice, and helpful. read more

Pretty decent place to live in for the area with walk-in closets and newer amenities. The rents have shot up considerably in keeping with the economy, even so they are still a bit high for the neighborhood. The leasing office staff are nice and prompt with maintenance issues. It's generally very quiet except for neighbors who smoke and it got pretty bothersome as we couldn't open the windows in summer. read more

this is a nice quiet place to live. it has a theatre room, game room, gym, car wash area, pool & spa, and even a hotel like room that you can rent for family that's coming from out of town. how can it possibly get any better? well it does, there are grocery stores and restaurants on both sides and across the complex. read more
