She was very fearful and exceptionally good at avoiding the part that terrified her - namely defecating in the toilet. We'd tried educating her, rewarding/bribing per, praising her, talking about it and not talking about it. NOTHING had worked at all. Her pediatrician didn't have any answers either. I read everything I could find online but none of the strategies worked. Then I met with the wonderful Dr. Lakin. He asked a lot of questions about our history with potty training but also questions about our daughter in general to better understand her personality and behaviors. He suggested a new consequence and a new reinforcement for us and I kid you not - it worked within 24 hours. Within days, it was like she'd never been afraid and the prior 9 months had never happened. We couldn't be more grateful for Dr. Lakin's professional insights. After the toilet issue was resolved, we started looking at our parenting struggles differently in light of his advice and CBT blog posts (e.g. daughter getting out of bed too early in the AM, and not eating vegetables). Looking at things from a behaviorist perspective has shifted our parenting strategies and we've been much more successful mitigating the examples above. I will definitely call Dr. Lakin again the next time we get stuck! We give him our very highest recommendation!

I was 14 when my mom got recommended Dr. Lakin to help me with my server depression. When I first went to him, I was so hopeless and did not believe that I could be helped. After seeing him for about 2 and half years and can fully say that Dr. Lakin saved my life. I saw him when he worked in DBT and CBT therapy. I was a little skeptical about his exposure therapy because it was outside my comfort zone, but Dr. Lakin helped me through the process. He is so open and honest with you, and that is something I admired so much about him.It was not your traditional therapy. We would go on walks and do the most random activities. I did not understand this, but it was all part of the process and it was so helpful. When I first started seeing him, I did not want to go, but after a couple months of sessions, his office became my safe place for 2 years. He ended moving away from my hometown so unfortunately, I could not see him anymore, and I have not seen anyone since him, but because of Dr. Lakin, I can go through life, with the skills I need for my depression and anxiety. I am now 18 and at a very good college, and when I first came to Dr. Lakin I never went to school, because of how miserable I was. Although I have not seen Dr. Lakin in almost 2 years, I would not of graduated from high school or gotten into college without him. When I first contacted them I was given the name of a male therapist and at first said NO. I am glad that I changed my mind and went with Dr. Kukoleck. He has helped me more than the couple before him. As for the veteran, there are procedures that must be followed and dishing the company because you didn't get what you wanted is WRONG. For example I said I didn't have any friends I felt I could discuss my situation with so she repeated back that I had a good support system. She canceled our next appointment day of so I left a vm to reschedule. Office took weeks to call back. 2nd try was a CNP as Audrey left, when CNP are not trained as therapists. She warned me a drug rep may enter, so not HIPAA compliant. I just wanted someone to listen, but she talked the entire time making false assumptions and suggestions I had already tried. 3rd appt I had a work emergency come up so I was forced to late cancel. I was charged a late notice fee of $75 when the office had done the same to me already, was I supposed to charge a late notice fee? Life happens to everyone. The office is also pretty hard to reach. Sadly I do not recommend this office.

Not having a psychiatrist and being so close to my home, I decided to stop in and check it out. What I found was different from a traditional doctors office. I met Dr. Turell the psychiatrist and owner of the practice who runs the place. There was old vinyl records playing and a comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Turell was very friendly and welcoming. I set up an initial appointment where he asked me a lot of questions to get to know me and then prescribed me medication. After a few appointments he introduced me to a service he had available for depression called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) which I had never heard of. Being resistant to many psychiatric medications I decided to give it a try. Dr. Turell was very helpful and professional throughout the sessions I've had with him. I definitely recommend Strive Mental Health and Wellness to anyone in the Cleveland area looking to tryout TMS or get involved in wellness programs he has to offer.

My normal doctor wasn't able to fit me in before I left on vacation so I tried calling around the area to find someone who could. This place was the first to agree to accept an appointment within the same week, and from the service I experienced, now I understand why they aren't seeing a lot of business. The receptionist I spoke with was very cordial; she took my insurance info, told me she wasn't able to match me with a doctor of the preferred sex on short notice (which was understandable), and said I'd be meeting with "Ed." The day before my appointment I got a call saying, oops, they don't accept my insurance after all. I felt pressured the cancel the appointment. When I told them I'd be keeping it after all because there was no way I could find someone else less than a week before I went abroad, they sounded incredulous. On the day of my appointment I showed up 15 minutes early. I waited more than half an hour to be checked in. When they finally called me up front, they asked what day I'd like to schedule my psychiatrist appointment. Perplexed, I said that was what I was there to do that day -- see Dr. Ed. They explained Ed isn't a doctor; he's an intake specialist, and that the doctor would not be willing to see me without an orientation with Ed first. Would've been nice to know before I committed to an appointment, took off work to come, and waited for half an hour. If I saw the intake specialist that day, I could come back in for a real appointment next week sometime. This would, of course, cost me twice as much (off of insurance) since it was two separate sessions. When I asked them reasonably to be flexible being that 1) I was never informed of any of this and 2) was leaving the country that week, the receptionist (a different one) became highly defensive and claimed whoever made the appointment would have properly informed me of their process. When I respectfully disagreed, she accused me of being deaf. I asked to see an office supervisor and she shut the window in my face. I left unsure of whether the preliminary appointment was still on. My experience can't be an anomaly; they seem to have the process of strong-arming new patients into attending multiple appointments fine-tuned. I cant speak to the quality of their doctors because I was never actually allowed to see one. This place is a racket and is staffed by the rudest people. Would not recommend wasting your time at an office where the people working there seem to need help more than the patients.

He is kind, non-judgmental and easy to talk to. Appointments are easy to schedule and I'm never stuck sitting in the waiting room for long periods of time. The treatment plan is always clear and I get to have a voice in it. I've always felt like my feelings and issue were taken seriously and never invalidated. I highly recommend him.

I opened up to him which took great courage. He called me a few days before our third session and told me to find someone else who can help me because he didn't think we were a good fit. This is devastating to any survivor of horrific childhood abuse and he, of all people, should know better! Luckily, I've done a lot of internal healing work over the past few years, so even though his phone call was upsetting, it didn't throw me into chaos and make me suicidal. I shudder at the thought of him doing this to someone else who hasn't done the healing that I've done! This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back for them!) Again, STAY AWAY.
