This massive location on Bloor is two stories and full of absolutely anything a book store could and should have. Books, magazines, clothing, pens, home goods, plushies, and did I mention the books part? This store is very clean, very well organized, and makes it very well known when a book is put out by a Canadian author with a big sticker right on the cover to let you know, and I sure do love supporting other Canadians. Overall, this location is amazing and probably my favourite one. I ended up leaving with a sweatshirt, a poetry book for a friend, and two books my wife picked out. I very much look forward to coming back on my next trip back home!

I could have been in here for hours exploring but luckily brought my husband which saved us lots of money. I thought the variety was good and liked that books by both local and Canadian authors were marked.

Smack in the middle of a tiny strip-mall-ish plaza among houses and apartments, I got very excited when I found this independent mystery bookstore. I found their website quite easy to navigate - they also put out very detailed, annotated newsletters each month, detailing new releases. I placed an order for 3 books (one pre-order, to be released in Feb 2021 and two books that were simply out of stock). There was great communication with JD, one of the owners, via email. I preferred to pick-up my books when they arrived rather than have them shipped to me, and was told that I'd get an email when my books arrived. I loved that the emails were personalized - no digital form emails for this place - and when one of my books arrived, JD informed me that the 2nd book was completely out of stock and they weren't sure when they'd get it in. He offered to cancel the order, which I agreed to. When I picked up my book during curbside pickup, JD was very friendly and chatty and told me that the store had been there for 40 years. I SO wish that I was able to browse the bookstore and see what else they've got inside! I will absolutely be patronizing Sleuth again for all of my mystery book needs!

Instead you will find a collection of reads that appear to have been carefully chosen as the best or most relevant for children, design, cooking, and contemporary topics. Definitely worth a try if you favor a genuinely pleasant book buying experience over the more impersonal Indigo offering.

This is a pretty huge Chapters or Indigo or whatever the name is these days. It's clean and all the staff are really friendly but not follow you around, in your face kinda friendly. They have some cute Kate Spade items, as well as candles, jewellery, kitchen items. They have some really nice engraved (initials in script form) cheeseboards as well as gold lettered initial mugs. Makes great gifts and gives it that personal touch. I also bought a gorgeous faux fur scarf. I'm in love every time I wear it. I love their huge discount section as I love to read and buy books often. But I also like to pay my mortgage and eat so I can have both my cake and eat it as well here! But I can also go to Starbucks if I really really want some cake too. So technically I can have it ALL!
