Thanks to Yelp I now have a winter activity to put on my bucket list. Bumper Cars on Ice!!! Courtesy of Cornerstone Arena and Yelp I was able to test drive a bumper ice cart. The inner kid in me enjoyed bumping unexpected drivers. But, if you bump someone don't be surprise if they want to get even and bump you back!! For some reason this kid had decided to make me his target the entire session. Whenever I attempted to take a photo on the ice, the kid he would rear end me causing my photo to get out of focus. Thanks kid! Luckily, I managed to get away and was able to snap a few photos worth posting. For anyone concerned that the bumping will hurt, good news!! the bumpers absorbs the impact of each collision surprisingly well. However, you do want to be careful with getting in and out of the cart as you are stepping on ice. This is an affordable and a family friendly activity. For parents looking for a place to have a kids birthday party, Cornerstone does have party packages. Finally, I want to mention Cornerstone is a really nice facility. They offer food and drinks. Plenty of seats in the stands to watch your kids play hockey/open skating sessions and if you cold, there is a sitting area outside of the rink where you can stay warm and have a great view if both ice rinks.

My group of friends tries to get together on a monthly basis to do a friend activity, and we try to support local businesses in the process that offer fun and unique activities. For March, we decided to give the ice bumpers here a try. My husband and I had done them before, at a yelp elite event and loved it, so we were totally down! A couple of our friends had to work which made our number of participants 11. We were told we could have up to twelve on the ice at a time, but could sub people in and out to make sure we all got ice time. It was 32$ per person for a full hour of bumper car fun, which wasn't that bad. We are all approximately 30 years old and for an hour we raced, rammed into each other, had spinning contests, and just had some good clean fun. It was a great time! They have a snack bar downstairs where you sign the waivers that has pizza, nachos, all your standard shack bar treats. There's also a bar/ restaurant upstairs. Know before you go: -its an ice rink! It's cold! Dress for it!! -for groups, I'd recommend a reservation -perfect for corporate bonding events, adult friends, family fun nights, and kids birthday parties

Wow! Awesome rink! So I came here on. Wednesday night (adult…read moreretro night). It was also the start of the annual Borderline Jam which I was unfamiliar with since I'm just getting back into skating again but there were so many incredibly talented skaters it just blew me away! I am just an average rollerblader. I haven't hit a rink in a quarter century until this past week so I can't even remember how to skate backwards but I still go fast and just flying around the rink listening to music on a great sound system with fun lighting was enough to make me happy and get great exercise too! Admission is usually $10 (I had to pay $15 because of the special event). There are skates to rent but I know nothing more as I have my own. There are plenty of lockers and they are a quarter to lock each time (I was busy skating and never opened it again until I left). The key doesn't have a wrist band so make sure you have a pocket or a fanny pack or something to put it in. There is a snack bar with things like pizza, pizza logs, nachos, popcorn, etc. at a fair price. There are also some alcoholic beverages! There's also vending machines with plenty of snacks and drinks. There is an arcade too which I wanted to play but unfortunately almost every game was turned off and no one at the ticket counter - im not sure if it is like that every adult night or just due to the special event but I wanted to play some games! Staff was friendly but so were the people! Everyone that came up to me was just genuinely being nice and inclusive and not being a creep. That really made me feel happy and excited to come back. What I love the most was all shapes sizes ages colors genders styles and skill sets all harmonized as one. Everyone was really enjoying themselves, getting along nicely, if someone is coming around you fast they will make a noise so you know or they may gently touch you for a moment so you know they rounding you so no one falls. It was really a nice venue with wonderful people where you can feel safe and free from all of the silly arguments you see on social media, or rudeness you see out in the wild quite often. Whether your 80 years old and still able to fly around the rink, younger and full of dance moves on skates that make heads turn, average like me, or just starting out and need some help .. and people there will be happy to help you ... this is the place to be! I really look forward to coming here again soon.

The Harbourfront Ice Skating Rink may be back but it's a mere shadow of its former self and is a completely unremarkable venue now. I had planned to skate there but when I saw where they had moved the rink and the awful condition of the ice, I was flabbergasted and changed my mind!! Everything that made the original rink unique and special was gone!! When you came to the Natrel rink you could enjoy skating around the freeform sunken edged rink all while taking in a marvellous, unobstructed view of Lake Ontario. The ice was always one of the best outdoor ice surfaces to skate on in the city as well. It was always very well maintained and a great surface for outdoor skating. Unfortunately it is now just a poor quality rectangular ice pad with a view of the underside of the highway and buildings. Oh sure they have put some lights up on the thin tree trunks to try and make it look better but it still falls short. For me the experience is ruined forever. (Unless they decide to put the rink back where it was and maintain it better). It's sad that they didn't put more thought into what actually made the rink unique in the first place and what made it a great place to skate. I had been anxiously awaiting its reopening but was sorely disappointed to see what it has become. It is comdevoid of any previous charm and is no longer a good skating venue. I will not be back!

My first experience was Brewfest, where the wide expanse of the ground floor made it a perfect space for hosting multiple vendors without traffic jams. I came back for the silos, twice. Once they were hosting a chalk festival, allocating enough space in their outdoor half as well. Last year we returned in late October for a haunted story tour. You'll need to bundle up as the silo is not heated for cold nights, but the experience was entertaining and well thought through. Their main building however had excellent temperature control. Last night we attended a concert at the venue. There was ample paid parking (cash only, bring a tenner) and the entrance is clearly marked. They take security seriously with metal detecting and staff by the stage without feeling overbearing. They are there to help keep the fun safe, not be party poopers. They let people crowd surf and mosh, helping them down to avoid potential injury. The tickets were digitally scanned at entry before you hit the cafe. One of our party splurged on buying herself dinner, which she admitted was pricey. Though she did also mention it was very fresh and delicious with higher quality standards than most venues. This may be because you can get dinner here at their restaurant, doubling down as the place to be. My friend said he comes every year to watch Roller Derby as well. I've yet to hear anything bad about this place, which lets me comfortably say I might just have to peruse their event calendar for this little sparkling gem.

The inside was well ventilated and they ended up turning on the indoor fans for circulation which was super nice. They even handed out waters during the show! I was pleased. The weird issue was that people were trying to use the bathroom or call rides after the show and security was kind of rude about kicking everyone out.
