This was the second place I've done an escape room. I thought the puzzles would pretty tough overall. I did really like that there were several rooms to get into. We did the jungle room. It was pretty warm in there but the guy did tell us there were some ac issues recently. We had 6 people in the room and were given 4 hints throughout the hour ( given to people who are running behind) we solved the room with 5 mins left of the clock. Overall we had a lot of fun and it was challenging. I'd recommend this place for sure! read more

We've done a half dozen escape rooms now, and this is probably our favorite one. It had the most clever puzzles and contraptions we've seen. Also the staff was amazing. I wish we lived closer so I could do ALL their rooms! (We did the Castle scenario, and it was just my husband and I. We finished, barely, but needed several hints. We tried the powerplant escape room. The locations if hidden away a little bit but one of the best escape rooms I have participated in. Very clever solutions. The completion rates seem to accurately represent the difficulty. These rooms have some of the most clever solutions to puzzles. read more

This is my third experience with an escape room (but my first at this location). We showed up a bit early and the owner told us our room was empty and we could begin sooner than our appointment if we wanted. So with that, six of us took on the jungle room. I won't spoil anything but I would say that we escaped with about a minute left and had a fun time doing it. One of the main things I liked about this room was that it emphasized team work more than some others I have tried in the past. By that I mean that several of the clues were obtained through team work (people having to communicate with each other from different rooms). A word of warning, some of the puzzles require a bit of outside the box thinking. My only complaint would be that when we went, their AC was out and it was pretty warm in there. Most of us were sweating pretty bad by the end of it. The owner said it was being fixed, so hopefully it'll be better for the next group. read more

We brought a work group here for the prison break room. It was all of our first time going to an escape room but it won't be our last! We had such a great time!!! The room was hard. Much harder than we expected. The lady that controlled our room ( I think her name was Rachel) was terrific and really enhanced our experience. She had to keep giving us hints because we kept getting stuck haha. But we made it! With 1 min and 15 sec left! Definitely enticed communication from the whole group. What an awesome idea!! We came with our older kids as something to do as a family. The staff is amazing it makes it fun even when you struggle. It is ideal to find something that makes you think and not be electronic. This would be a fantastic idea for a Yelp event, or work function. Escape Room Buffalo - We made it out!!! - Escape Games Near Me - North Tonawanda, New York

This was my 3rd escape room location I've been to and I feel it was right in the middle on the difficulty scale. My group chose to do the jungle room which has multiple rooms to move through which I like. Some escape rooms you're in one room the entire time whereas this one had 5 rooms and we had to keep going back through each of them to solve all of the puzzles. This location will give you clues when the worker feels you're falling behind. Other locations I've been to you can ask for clues but you have a limited number of them or you can get a clue every xx many minutes. We were given 5 clues throughout our time and successfully escaped with a few minutes to spare. Always a good feeling when you make it out in time but it was still challenging which I feel this room was. Our group would return to do another here! read more

This is the second escape room we have done here and it's better than the other escape rooms we have tried. The rooms are extremely interactive where anything could be a clue. It's fun to search through book, use black lights and challenge your thinking to think outside the box to dive the puzzles at hand. This makes for a great night with a small group of friends. The staff here is extremely helpful and are willing to answer questions about the room before you go in. If your group gets stuck, the staff slips clues under the door to help point you in the right direction. We have done 2 escapes here, and will return to complete more! read more

My friends and I love Escape Rooms! We started in Canada and we're super excited when they came to our area! The staff here are a lot of fun, really helpful, and make the experience great. We have done 3 rooms here, The Time Machine, The Bank Robbery and Prison Break. The Time Machine was harder than the other 2 however we enjoyed Prison Break the most as you have to work as a team as you are in separate cells. Communication is the key, you have to work together otherwise no escaping will occur! The provide water and freshly popped popcorn! So much fun! This is a great activity for anyone and everyone. You don't have to be a puzzle geek and this isn't a scary experience (those were the two causes for trepidation voiced by a couple friends). It's all about teamwork, attention to detail and problem solving. My family and I did the prison break which we found particularly fun because we were split up into two cells but still had to work together by passing clues back and forth and figuring out puzzles from across the room. Almost every single thing in the room (other than the ceiling and the vents, as they will tell you) may hide clues. The puzzle makers did an excellent job mixing a variety of clues with decoys. If you are taking too long and are really stumped, they will send little clues to you through the "mail slot." Our "guide" (aka prison guard) was excellent and at the conclusion of the game answered all questions we had about the room, the puzzles, strategy, etc. They really do a great job making everyone feel welcome and ensuring that everyone has a great time. My *only* criticism is that they did not pay much attention to the actual atmosphere of the room. I expected to get the full experience and feel like I was actually in a prison. Unfortunately, the walls are thin and you can hear people in the other escape room and the party room, including their conversations, shouts of excitement and even music. It was terribly distracting and took away from the experience. We simply did not feel like we were actually in prison. They could do a little more, like adjusting the lighting, adding some soundproofing, maybe add some "prison" noises like clanging bars, clinking keys, random shouts from other inmates ... I don't know, just some ideas. Overall, an AWESOME time and we can't wait to do more rooms when they change it up in a couple months! read more

This is probably one of the funnest and coolest things you can do with a group in Buffalo! While in town for the holidays, I met up with some old friends and we decided this was worth a try. At $27 a person, it was well worth it!! My group of 8 did the prison break. I don't want to spoil any secrets, I will just say that it is great fun, challenging, mind-bending, and team-building. Sara was our guide and she gave us some helpful tips before we went in. She was super great throughout the whole time. The concept is, you go in a room (different themed rooms) and you have an hour to escape. It is not easy, but if you wok together, it can be done. Our group was the 67th out of 129 groups to escape the prison with 22 seconds left on the clock!!!!!!! Needless to say, we felt great afterwards. I will definitely be returning on future trips! read more

My friends and I love going to Escape Rooms and this one was no exception. We did the space room. I think this may be my favorite escape room to date. If it isn't, it is only second to a prison escape we did in Toronto for our first room years ago. We all remember our first time, don't we? Back to business... The room was of good quality and I loved the pacing of puzzles. I always felt like we were solving something and no one got to the level of unhappy frustration. Don't let me make you think it's easy, we failed, but not by too much. They did a good job with hints when you fell behind, but didn't over do it. I would come back here in a heart beat and I think the rest of my group would agree with that. read more

This was my second escape experience but first at Escape Room Buffalo. A friend was in from out of town so we took what we could get for scheduling. We all got there early because they had made a big deal about starting on time. We ended up waiting over 20 minutes. They let you keep working until you solve the puzzles even after time runs out. Which is great but pushes back other teams so, yeah. Other than the wait everything else was great. The staff were pleasant. The puzzles were challenging. We were the only group to finish within the time limit for the day. Props for us! We did Prison Break. I'd go back for the other option and I believe they have a new one opening soon. All in all, it was a fun time, as long as you're not in a rush. read more

This is the fourth escape room I have been to and the third that my girlfriend and I went to together. We like to do these on date nights and like the challenge of just having the two of us as opposed to a larger group. I found this location and "Escape the Castle" which was for two people. Like all escape rooms, this place was an interesting set up. I felt like I walked into the DMV. I knew it would be challenging from reviews, but I wasn't anticipating just how difficult. Overall, the place could use a bit of a revamp in terms of items in the room, things peeling, etc. However, I was very impressed with the design and level of challenge. You really have to work hard and think outside the box to make it out. I felt frustrated by some of the clues as I didn't think they all made a lot of sense but overall it was a ton of fun. Also, clues are old school and slipped under the door. No technology or voices from beyond here. We didn't make it out (although close)! I'd recommend this one for seasoned veterans or larger groups. read more

This was my third escape room, having done another in Buffalo and one in Toronto before. I preferred this to the other one I've done here in Buffalo. The room was well designed and we had a lot of fun doing it. We managed to escape with 3 minutes to spare! Overall I would recommend Escape Rooms Buffalo and plan to go again. I do have two criticisms: 1) It was disappointing not to have signs to hold up when you pose for your photo after the escape. It's a wasted chance for advertising AND from looking at the picture, friends have no idea why you're posing in a random bar, prison cell, or whatever the scene is. 2) We arrived 15 minutes early and had to wait until 20 minutes AFTER our scheduled start time because the room was still in use. They don't kick you out of the room when time is up, but let you finish instead. That's nice but really has the potential to back things up. We were a bit frustrated to say the least. read more

Had a great Christmas luncheon with family, ages 5 to 65 at escape room buffalo on Oliver St. in north tonawanda. The room we experienced was the brewery and most of us participated. It was a lot of fun and was a great way to get together and try something interesting for all ages. It's not as easy as it sounds and really makes you think.. Just not what we were all expecting. We have been to escape rooms before as a group and this one really was all over the place. It was low tech and very un-interactive. It was mostly us just trying to figure out clues to unlock locks. It was boring and got annoying after a while when we couldn't figure stuff out. We were all disappointed and kinda bummed we didn't pick a different place to spend our money. read more

We did the Time Machine room - which is their hardest level. Our group of 8 completed the challenge, but 2 seconds past the allotted time. It is definitely a unique and fun concept. Lots of detective work and critical thinking. Teamwork is a necessity. read more

While in town for the holidays, we did the Brewery room. Prior to playing the game, we had a nice lunch in the group/holiday room, and then got "locked" in! We were able to escape with one second left on the clock -- impressive because we had a 10 month old and 3 year old "helpers." We needed to use more clues than I thought we needed - it is challenging! Great fun and a great way to spend some quality time with family! read more

No frills escape room with good puzzles! I've done escape rooms all over the US and while this one is not very fancy or design focused compared to others, the puzzles were challenging, but not impossible and they went in a fairly logical order. We did escape the brewery, but would definitely go back and try another room there. read more

Super fun experience. There were 8 of us and we did the Brewery. There were 2 rooms in there and a closet and endless locks we had to figure out. Lots of layers to the game! There was always something for everyone to be diligently working on and figuring out the entire time. Often we were paired off, or in small groups figuring out various clues, looking around. A few times everyone was working together on just one clue. My only complaints would be that the ambiance could use some tweaking (the overhead radio was playing, fairly loudly, and included commercials, which was both annoying and distracting, and I don't think it was supposed to be pub music, bc that same overhead radio was in the entryway and waiting area. Plus, the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling so everything can be heard and is connected), and secondly, some of the pieces of the game could use some fine tuning, as it tripped us up even though we had it right--- for example: one clue we figured out we were trying over and over, positive we had it right but nothing was happening. The guy eventually came in the room to help us because it was a bit stuck. Turns out we probably could have gotten it if the clue had explained we would hear the door "click, or pop" rather than what it said which was that we would hear a "buzz"-- a very distinct difference. Another lock we had to press the pound sign on the keypad (#) before it would open, which apparently was labeled as such, but we didn't see it, so we kept trying the combination and then reworking the clue thinking we must not have it right. The guy had to slip us a note to tell us about the pound sign. Another problem occured when we had already discovered a clue that the guy didn't see us get and so he slid a hint under the door for us about it, which was confusing since we already solved that part. So we ended up spending another 3-5 more minutes on it thinking we must have missed something or that there was another piece to that clue when in reality there wasn't. just two things that held us up. We finished the game in 62 minutes, so didn't escape in the 60 minutes time, so those things definitely made a difference. Regardless though, it was loads of fun and I love that they let you finish playing even if you run out of time (they don't just fling open the door and stop you), so that was fun. Escape Room Buffalo is a fun, unique experience where what you're able to learn from your surroundings helps you proceed through the challenge. There are enough different spaces and clues to find and figure out what to do with to keep a decent sized group busy and having fun for the duration and the owners are nice and knowledgeable hosts who can make great recommendations for your group. We had a lot of fun there with the Brewery... It seems perfect for families, groups of friends, or for a work team building event.
