The Classic hosts high school & youth hockey teams, free-skate sessions, private parties. Once the weather warms up, the Rink will be converted to an outdoor marketplace. Facilities are immaculately clean, which is a tall order, considering the large members of people coming through the building every day. We took advantage of the Skate rentals, until we knew our boys were committed to learning to skate. At that point, we bought secondhand skates for them. There's a limited snack bar in the skating lodge. If you're craving something more substantial, you're within walking distance from some really great restaurants! I particularly love the second floor which overlooks the ice. It's wonderfully comfortable and cozy, outfitted with huge rocking chairs. Come on down during open hours to support the kids!

I finally get to use the word Zaboni in a Yelp review!…read more After not having ice skated for a length of time that is longer than almost everyone still standing is alive, my friends decided they wanted to ice skating and wanted me to go with them. Thankfully, my size skate was not available at the skate rental counter, so the pressure was off. Well, at least for the first hour. Then skates became available and off I went! For just $3 I was suddenly on the ice. The skates felt good. I remembered how the shoes fit when I was younger and how to stand in them and keep my ankles straight. What I had forgotten was how easy it is get going really fast in almost nothing flat. Yikes! How do you slow down??? Well, I didn't crash, run over any other skaters, or fall down. I'd call it a complete success! There's public skating all year round every day. I was surprised about the walkers and other assists available. This facility is on the #25 Delaware bus route. And yes, there is a real Zamboni machine driven by a Zambonier.

It was $360 so just $30 per person which I thought was really reasonable. Especially compared to what the charge for the open skate. We arrived early as prompted to sign waivers and everything. Then they let us go to the rink and get into the tube cars. They don't go REALLY fast so I'd say it's safe for kids. Our group was all adults. We ended up having a lot of fun! It was a really great group activity.

As we approached the bar, the bartender took our drink orders and was super helpful with assisting us with our drink selections. She informed us our sodas were free refills (just in case somebody wondered). We then ordered our meal. We got nachos, jalapeno poppers and wings. It is bar food, but was really good. My favorite was the bourbon wings, a must try! And may I add the prices were amazing! After eating we decided to play pinball. Each one is $1 to play. I was in heaven, although the x-files pinball was not there this time, they had some really great machines. One of my favorites was Tommy the who. I also learned that you can play teams of 2, 3 and 4. We met some awesome people there and played a round with them which was a blast. This place is great for a date night, night, out with the family or a fun place to hang out with friends! They run the pool tables by the hour and have packages for 1, 2, 3 and 4 people per hour. I was out there for nearly the full 3 hours ... a lot sweatier than I was a quarter century ago when I last was going to skate nights LOL but it didn't interrupt my fun! The admission without skates is $12, a locker rental $3. I'm not sure how much to rent skates as I had my own. The locker was a generous size and held many items including my gym bag I carried my skates in, small purse, phone, socks, towel, jacket and shoes. There was still some room to spare. I didn't have any food, but I noticed there was a candy case, pizza, and wings. Some other items on the menu too but I didn't take note. There is a DJ and I will say I made a request and he was very nice and he did play my song. There are people on the floor who will help you if you're having trouble skating, as well as "walkers" on wheels to hold onto (I don't know what they're called). It wasn't a huge place; the rink is smaller than others I have been too but still it was ok. There's no "extras" like arcade games or mini golf - you can skate or watch people skate lol I love to skate so no big deal and it was nice to get exercise that doesn't feel like exercise! I will happily come here again sometime and wish I had a skating rink in my area but no matter what I would have to drive somewhere because there isn't so I'll come again in the future.
