Then they converted it to a new state of the art facility with 3 standard size rinks and an Olympic size rink. Complete with equipment shop, concessions, etc. But that was decades ago now. And not much has changed since the conversion. Are the concession-area seating/tables the originals? Because they appear to be (falling apart, loose, marked up, wobbly). The spectator overhead heaters are in rough shape (do they even work half the time?). This facility is in desperate need of refurbishment.

I was out there for nearly the full 3 hours ... a lot sweatier than I was a quarter century ago when I last was going to skate nights LOL but it didn't interrupt my fun! The admission without skates is $12, a locker rental $3. I'm not sure how much to rent skates as I had my own. The locker was a generous size and held many items including my gym bag I carried my skates in, small purse, phone, socks, towel, jacket and shoes. There was still some room to spare. I didn't have any food, but I noticed there was a candy case, pizza, and wings. Some other items on the menu too but I didn't take note. There is a DJ and I will say I made a request and he was very nice and he did play my song. There are people on the floor who will help you if you're having trouble skating, as well as "walkers" on wheels to hold onto (I don't know what they're called). It wasn't a huge place; the rink is smaller than others I have been too but still it was ok. There's no "extras" like arcade games or mini golf - you can skate or watch people skate lol I love to skate so no big deal and it was nice to get exercise that doesn't feel like exercise! I will happily come here again sometime and wish I had a skating rink in my area but no matter what I would have to drive somewhere because there isn't so I'll come again in the future.

A beautifully clean pool that appears to actually be open majority of the time I visit. There are tennis courts one of which acts as grounds for street hockey. Fireman's Park is a baseball diamond, a pavilion, some greenery, some trees, and a soccer field, in the heart of Depew sandwiched between a bunch of railway lines (or railroad tracks if you're American). I used to play soccer here quite a lot, and was on the wrong end of several ass-whoopings by Depew Village who are an excellent BDSL team that calls this location home. I also scored some goals here, including a hat trick once, so it has good memories for me too. All in all it's a great little park, the grass isn't too bad... it's under-utilized and underappreciated by Depew Locals and could be better than it is, so I'll give it a solid 4 out of 5. Speaking of a solid 4, I have a solid 7 or 8 right here.

It's a pretty modern facility but it has nothing on the nearby YMCA where I go. I think quite a few Cheektowaga residents don't even know it exists. I love that they often host free events (both family friendly and adult oriented) and also things like fitness classes. There are places to take a seat and relax and there are some nice amenities and fun attractions like Shark Girl. There is ample surface lot parking plus there is the Harborfront garage. There is currently an indoor exhibit that is free (and air conditioned) about the history of the Erie Canal. There is also a canal boat, the carousel and the navel park. The one down side is that there seems to be perpetual construction. There are always fences, road blocks and other construction around. Great that development is happening, but it means that it might be a challenge to get around. A great place to enjoy the Buffalo waterfront and spend some time outdoors.
