SMA Exteriors redid my roof in 2024 after a hail storm. In 2025 I discovered water leaking into my…read moregarage where the roof and gutter meet the wall. Turns out they never installed a kickout flashing/bump out in that spot. When I called, they came back and added it for free, but told me there "wasn't one there before" when they did the roof. To me that admits they knew it should have been there. Kickout flashing costs cents and is basic code/best practice to prevent water intrusion. Because it was missing, water ran behind the siding and rotted the wall sheathing. I had to tear off drywall in the garage and found the damage. When I asked SMA to help, they said it's not covered under warranty and isn't their fault. Their reasoning was the damage is "old" because there was never flashing there originally. My response: if the job was done correctly in 2024, we wouldn't be debating old vs new damage. I didn't open the wall until a year after their work, and the sheeting was rotten underneath. I spoke with owner Steve. He said, "we can agree to disagree" and that they aren't willing to help. When I asked why his crews or project manager missed this, he said they notice and add kickouts now, but "must not have known to add them before." Meanwhile my garage has water damage from work they did, and they aren't concerned with helping a past client. To make it worse, this house was purchased from a friend. SMA tried to use that against me, implying they would've helped the previous owner but not me because "my name isn't on it." That's a terrible way to stand behind your work. I've read their responses to other bad reviews - lots of talk about how long they've been in business and how they "treat everyone right." Yet multiple people are saying the same thing: issues get denied and not fixed. Stuff happens in construction. The difference between a good company and a bad one is whether they fix mistakes they caused. The most ironic part: this is a company that will argue with insurance that damage isn't "old" when it benefits them, but the moment a homeowner questions them, suddenly everything is "old damage." Can't have it both ways. Plenty of honest roofers in the area who will actually fix their mistakes instead of walking away. Look elsewhere

This is an awful company! WATCH OUT!…read more This company was contracted to do work at my neighbors on a garage roof that overhangs a shared alley. Two guys from this company made a huge mess, leaving nails and debris in the alley. I drove by to get to my house, the only way for me to get home, and one of their roofing nails punctured the sidewall of my front tire. Immediately after driving by and arriving home I noticed the nail. I walked back to the garage later on and found another one of the EXACT SAME roofing nails that I found in my tire, so don't tell me it wasn't your nail! I drive an AWD Subaru and the tire couldn't be patched, so I was required to buy a set of 4 new tires. I was told that they would pay for 1/2 of the expense, but this happened a month ago and I still haven't seen anything. Can't get a hold of anybody in the company whenever I call and it sounds like the owner doesn't come in for long periods of time. Maybe if they did, things like this wouldn't happen. $800.00 down the drain because of this company's negligence and inability to clean up after themselves. Unprofessional and unresponsive- take your business somewhere else! Take accountability and compensate me for the damage you caused! UPDATE: The owner of this company, Steve, agreed to pay for part of the four tires, but not until I take this post down and come in to sign paperwork that I won't post bad reviews about the company. Chad and KraftMaster did a custom front entry redo for us this fall. We'd already had plans drawn…read moreup by an architect friend and the point of the remodel was to remove the original brick and concrete entry, that was falling in due to ice heaving, and replace it with a wooden deck with storage underneath. We'd taken care of the demo and landscaping to prep the site. Chad and his crew took it from there and did a really fabulous job. We have a challenging site because of heavy clay soil and large tree roots. They carefully set the posts and quickly got to work - late in the fall - on putting up the structure. The deck went up quickly and they did everything - including the horizontal privacy cladding, a custom bumpout to integrate the new deck into the 70s house, a custom double swing door to access the storage space, and a custom railing using wire panel - exactly to spec and with a high degree of craftsmanship. Chad and his crew were always timely, courteous, and did a great job cleaning up the worksite each day. We really appreciate the great work they did and have already been so thankful to finally be able to store some unsightly items out of the way and can't wait until spring when we paint the house and stain the deck. Finally, as a female homeowner, I really appreciated that they recognized that I was the person in the equation who cared most about the outcome of the project, who had the strongest viewpoints on the design decisions, and who needed to be consulted as the project went along. This is not always the case and it's refreshing to work with a crew who doesn't ignore "the wife."

They were flexible with our decisions, and they allow you to truly design a customized home. We even got to pick a lot that wasn't in one of their developments. There are so many "upscale" features that come standard with many of their models that we hardly had to upgrade anything (which saves a lot of money compared to national builders). DO NOT BUY A HOUSE RENOVATED BY THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…read more My wife and I purchased a home that was remodeled and sold by Top Quality Homes, LLC. Items were repaired poorly resulting in over $3K spent to fix. We closed on the house on 08/27/2014 and moved in on 08/30/2014. Items were required by the city of Brooklyn Center, MN to be completed which the company never did resulting in the cost and labor being dropped on us when we closed on the home, none of which were disclosed by the seller prior to closing, which the seller did not even attend. (sent a representative) The first weekend in the house, the following repairs were required by HVAC and plumbing professionals as well as repairs made by myself. Repair of gas leak at gas range connection which was installed improperly by the seller. ($60.00 parts) No vent installed for dryer hookup and was not covered by home warranty. A licensed HVAC specialist installed this at a cost of $1,175.00. The furnace had a faulty condensing coil and corroded panels which all had to be replaced at a cost of roughly $1,700.00. Luckily this was covered under our 1 year home warranty but we had to pay $95.00 for the service technician to come out and evaluate the repairs needed. The seller was also required by the City of Brooklyn Center to remove two 30 ft dead evergreen trees which they neglected to do which resulted in 5 hours of labor to remove them myself as well as the $10.00 for the bow saw. We also had a plumbing leak that had to be replaced which cost $360.00 by a licensed plumber as well as a faulty newly installed bath tub faucet that had to be entirely replaced at a cost of $76.00. Also many of the contractually agreed upon repairs were not completed until two days after closing which is unacceptable. They had over one month to make the needed repairs which they signed an agreement to but failed to meet the deadline and the work was all done very sloppily. The gas leak could have cost the lives of my wife and I, as well as our pet and two unborn twins due to carbon monoxide poisoning. All in all the total amount of out of pocket repairs (not including those covered by warranty) are in excess of $1,500.00. In addition, Top Quality Homes is in violation of Brooklyn Center City codes. They did not mow the lawn resulting in the city completing and charging them, trees were not removed, building material waste were dumped in the backyard and not removed, and an HVAC inspection was not completed prior to closing on the house resulting in the $1,700.00 in repairs. We are seeking a reimbursement of these costs, which are a direct result of the negligence and poor quality of work, and lack of concern for us their customers (us). Top Quality Homes, LLC should be held responsible and liable for their blatant disregard for consumer safety.

They showed up to do the roof within the first 2 months, although didn't bother telling me first and I had just been discharged from the hospital with my newborn the day before. A year later they redid my gutters but put on the wrong colored downspouts and put them in the wrong places, even skipping an entire downspout. I contacted the manager who said he would be taking over handling my claim, then spoke to him twice and haven't heard from him since. Stay away from them unless you have the time and energy to constantly hound them to get the job done correctly.

I had a long asphalt driveway put in by ACI, it was a long driveway and was a DOT blend that was supposed to support heavier vehicles. Just as the installation crew was finishing up I immediately called out that it looked like there was a low spot near our pole building, but they said it was good and had plenty of slope. Turns out it wasn't good, there was a huge puddle days later after our first rain. After being ran around in circles for years (YES YEARS). The only "repair" they did was when they came out without any notice and torched the spot to try and fix it. I came home to what looked like a car fire burn in the asphalt, now a scorched driveway with a puddle. Fortunately, I had held back paying a portion of the final invoice ($4,413). Eventually was told they would get it fixed with concrete for "close to the remaining balance owed" ($4,413), well they never did. I have attached a screenshot of that actual email. The last two times I spoke with the President, Justin Pomerleau last fall, he told me they would have it done before winter. I also have a screenshot of an email from him reassuring me of this. They never did and also stopped responding. Now I have to go the legal route because I am getting it fixed on my own dime, costing me more than $9,000 after deducting the remaining balance I owe. The puddle is a large ice puddle in the winter and I have had people fall, luckily no major injuries yet. It also damaged my large door on closing because of the ice buildup. Very frustrating and it has wasted so much of my time. They gave so many excuses before finally admitting they were responsible for correcting it. Too many excuses to list, but here are a few: ~It was out of warranty, but I had proof I was repeatedly contacting with the issue since the week of install, they agreed. ~There wasn't enough slope, but every company that has come out (including their own rep from ACI) said there was well more than the 1.5 degree min. ~They tried to separate themselves from the company they merged with, but yet the ACS logo was on their emails next to ACI. Obviously, they are one in the same. I can go on and on. Look at the photos and correspondence I have attached. (I omitted some information because I didn't feel it was right to give their email and cell phone details.) You can see their own words that they lied to me. You can also see the puddle, the scorched asphalt. I tried to take the high road, gave them literally years to get this done, but they are NOT people of their word and I wanted everyone to know, or at least be warned, so they would not end up being another victim.
