Regarding the multiple trips we were told we would not have to pay until all the work was completed. To our surprise we received an invoice for his first day's work. We reminded him all payment when all the work was completed. He explained his need for the billing. We agreed to a partial payment after he removed the stumps. The stumps were removed, the partial payment was made. Furthermore we were of help with his billing by introducing him to several neighbors who were in need of tree service. It is now August, trees need to be dropped and Mr. Free will not return our phone calls nor respond to email request. If you plan to employ Jim Free Tree Service do not make the mistake we made. Pay only when all the work is completed.

My elderly mother is a resident of St. Louis Park and was confronted with a serious land dipping which lead to terribly large sink hole, unleveled landscaping, improper relief and consequential water drainage issues. This issue happened over the past 20 years. I had stepped into help mom find a contractor to fix the issues. We solicited 4 different bids and wound up choosing these folks. Rupert's bid was not the lowest one in the group. They were in the middle. But the owner Jake impressed me so much with his candor and attentiveness to what we wanted done that he was impossible to overlook. We were also clearly not a big money-making gig for Rupert's. They do mostly paver patio work and stylish retaining walls. But our issue was something Jake said they could address and they were able to squeeze us into an already tight schedule. Jake arrived with a small crew of 3 and finished the job in the amount of time he said the job would take. He used all of the materials and had no remnant soil. He actually saved us some money on the delivery fees by consolidating land materials into one type. Most important, they fixed the issue in my mom's backyard and left our property without any mess. Through it all we were made to feel just as important as any larger account. I have posted a few before and after pictures. If you can get on their calendar, I would recommend Rupert's Landscaping. I called to inquire if this company worked with areas of a yard where pavers had shifted over many years and were becoming hazardous to walk on. A third company had over reacted by my needs and kept stopping by when I was not home. Rupert's returned my call, we set up a specific meeting time and the owner Jake came to see the area that needed to be repaired. He suggested different ideas that I might consider and assured me that he could re-use the existing pavers, a significant cost savings for me! Jake and his team of 3 total men would remove the patio and walkway of pavers, reinforce "no shifting" with a border around the whole project, followed up by sweeping with a poly sand to keep pavers in place and weeds out. His team arrived as planned, began to work immediately and explained the steps they would be taking. Throughout the day they were diligent in their work and very knowledgeable of how to complete the task safely and efficiently. The project was completed in one day thanks to the heart and soul of these three individuals. Jake suggested my using a dark shade of mulch that would make the patio and walkway stand out....great idea as I have already had three neighbors ask for his company phone number. After disclosing I was a homeowner with 5 month old work order that had yet to be complete he was unwilling to help. He stated, "your a homeowner I don't know how you got my number". As the conversation continued I was shocked at how unprofessional, rude and disrespectful he spoke to me. Mr. Peterson then said that he was in the middle of a work site, on the phone and had people waiting on him. Mr. Peterson did not even so much as ask me about the work order, just told me that he was busy and to find someone else to do the work. Highly disappointed.

I had a long asphalt driveway put in by ACI, it was a long driveway and was a DOT blend that was supposed to support heavier vehicles. Just as the installation crew was finishing up I immediately called out that it looked like there was a low spot near our pole building, but they said it was good and had plenty of slope. Turns out it wasn't good, there was a huge puddle days later after our first rain. After being ran around in circles for years (YES YEARS). The only "repair" they did was when they came out without any notice and torched the spot to try and fix it. I came home to what looked like a car fire burn in the asphalt, now a scorched driveway with a puddle. Fortunately, I had held back paying a portion of the final invoice ($4,413). Eventually was told they would get it fixed with concrete for "close to the remaining balance owed" ($4,413), well they never did. I have attached a screenshot of that actual email. The last two times I spoke with the President, Justin Pomerleau last fall, he told me they would have it done before winter. I also have a screenshot of an email from him reassuring me of this. They never did and also stopped responding. Now I have to go the legal route because I am getting it fixed on my own dime, costing me more than $9,000 after deducting the remaining balance I owe. The puddle is a large ice puddle in the winter and I have had people fall, luckily no major injuries yet. It also damaged my large door on closing because of the ice buildup. Very frustrating and it has wasted so much of my time. They gave so many excuses before finally admitting they were responsible for correcting it. Too many excuses to list, but here are a few: ~It was out of warranty, but I had proof I was repeatedly contacting with the issue since the week of install, they agreed. ~There wasn't enough slope, but every company that has come out (including their own rep from ACI) said there was well more than the 1.5 degree min. ~They tried to separate themselves from the company they merged with, but yet the ACS logo was on their emails next to ACI. Obviously, they are one in the same. I can go on and on. Look at the photos and correspondence I have attached. (I omitted some information because I didn't feel it was right to give their email and cell phone details.) You can see their own words that they lied to me. You can also see the puddle, the scorched asphalt. I tried to take the high road, gave them literally years to get this done, but they are NOT people of their word and I wanted everyone to know, or at least be warned, so they would not end up being another victim.

Took a deposit of $250 and left my yard in worse condition. (I was using them to level the backyard and seed) I agreed they didn't need to come back right away for leveling, and that they could wait until sprinkler system was in place for seeding. That took a while due to delays from the sprinkler company, but when finally done I contacted them and I was asked if the owner could stop by and have access to the backyard when I wasn't home. I said that wouldn't work due to needing to go through the garage to get there (no access gate yet), but that I could be there within a 20 minute notice, or schedule something. From that point forward I was ghosted... by the OWNER! So I paid $250 to make my yard WORSE by this company. If they would have at least refunded the deposit I wouldn't be here warning others to stay away. I thought about small claims court just to prove a point, but I just don't want to take the time.

Levi admitted the workmanship was poor and his crew spent 1.5 days repairing the newly installed vinyl siding including caulking only because we refused to pay the remaining balance. Levi sent us installation instructions for the facia and his crew did not follow Levi's instructions. Levi refused to have the fascia installed correctly. Levi and his crew were disrespectful to us and our property. Levi's crew left food and garbage all over the yard and Levi was full of excuses and lies. Levi allowed details to remain unfinished. T&J Construction is a 0-Star company.
