Wow... this was a HORRIBLE experience. We had our first new born appointment this week and we decided that we wanted to delay some vaccinations (which is permissible in their policy). Once we told doctor Pamar this, she began on a lecture about her education and her experience and everything about how she knows what's best for our baby. She talked about herself for 15 minutes and basically told us we need to go somewhere else. She then continued in her condescending manner by asking us what our education we had and asked if we were doctors. Then, when we said our experience (not doctors) she continued to talk about her education and experience and made us very very stupid. During this process she was EXTREMELY rude and was basically telling us that we don't know what's best for our baby because of our lack of education and she knows what's best because of her education and experience. Unless you want a rude lecture from a cocky doctor I highly suggest going somewhere else. No star rating is low enough to express how terrible this was. read more

Our kiddo has been going to Cornerstone for all 9 years of their life. We were referred by a friend who said this is the only place you should take your child. We met our first provider at the hospital when our child was born. Their compassion was evident, and my knowledge gap of first-time motherhood was filled just enough to get through to the first appointment. I love their entire model of care. They always have a nurse available for triaging calls 24 hours a day. They have walk in appointments for sick visits and talking about or administering vaccines. I have been a more informed parent by bringing my child to them. read more

When I had my twins prematurely in July of 2018, I chose this to be their primary care based on the suggestion of one of the L&D nurses (she said her kid went there). Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience. At the time, I was a new mother and did not realize how poorly I was treated. Dr. Parma was very rude during our first appointment. I brought a friend with me because my children's father was working and she wanted to help. Dr. Parmar spoke so sharply and made such a rude remark that my friend suggested we see someone else. I was embarrassed and hurt but honestly because I was on Medicaid, I just didn't want to be difficult. We saw another doctor but I do not remember his name (white male, brown hair). He wasn't rude. However, he did nothing to treat one of twins acid reflux because "he was gaining weight just fine." It wasn't until we moved to another city and found a good pediatricians office that I realized just how poor our care was. I told the doctor about my son's reflux and she explained how easily it would be to treat and she was disappointed that the previous doctor did not recommend this, especially considering how much pain he was in. My twins are now 5 and I've had much more experience navigating the healthcare world as a mother. I share this review to empower parents to go where they feel respected. As the patient, you are the customer. You don't have to deal with snarky attitudes and rude comments. And it shouldn't matter whether you have Medicaid or not. If you don't like the way that you or your child are being treated, find someone who will treat you the way that you deserve. I am beyond thankful that we moved and found a good pediatricians office because that made a world of difference for my children! I'm leaving two stars because not all the encounters were negative. They've also improved on getting urgent walk-ins and not overbooking themselves (compared to 4 years ago). We have been a satisfied family of this practice since 2012. Not sure if due to new management, but the team presents with attitude, and are not respectful. I used to sing this practice's praises, until 2 months ago I was snapped at by one of the telephone nurses, and she refused to attempt to me explain the situation for a medication refill. Today my son had complaints that we needed a doctor to look at and I check the website which one would think would be an accurate reflection of current practice, and see that I can walk in without an appointment up to 8:15am. We arrive at the practice at 8:13am. The lady at the front desk (black lady with asymmetrical hair cut) snaps at me and says the information on the website is when they had an old manager and that it is not accurate (see photo below). I tell her that I shouldn't be penalized for this and should be seen, and she refuses and tells me I can't. I ask to see a manager and she tells me I still can't be seen because it is not accurate and the manager will just tell me the same thing. I was checked in for their first available appointment, however I don't belief the antics should have happened. There should be a ZERO for these people. I called for an appointment today and it was made for 1:15. Got to the office and the door was locked that they have a meeting until 1:45. Lady at the front was laughing at us as we came to the door. Called the office and got on call service. The on call guy talked to the laughing receptionist and she accused me apparently of lying because she said my appointment was not til 1:30. Well look even if it was ....which it was not .... they are closed for a meeting. If the office has this much disrespect for peoples time then they don't deserve your family's business---go elsewhere!!!! There are too many other better places to go to that are nicer and better over all!!! Have your meeting on your own time not mine!!! Cornerstone pediatrics has amazing doctors; however, it feels more like a business than a medical office. When I have brought up concerns, they always blame the specialist or the pharmacy. If you have doctor Rutledge as your primary, you are treated well. The other patients are treated as commodities instead of people. The phone lines are busy, sick appointments always booked, and short in person time with the doctor after waiting 30-45 mins. We have been patients here for almost 10 years. It's really slipped. I had the WORST experience with the office manager at this doctor's office!!! My kids have been patients at CS for over ten years, and I have never received treatment like this before. Yesterday, I called to make an appointment for my son, and the receptionist informed me I could come in an hour later, but I wouldn't have been able to make it in time. We ended up scheduling the appointment for the following day. I had to call to see if I could reschedule for Monday, due to my son having a food drive at his school for Thanksgiving. The receptionist told me that I would have to call back on Monday to schedule that appointment. I didn't understand; just 15 hours earlier, I was able to schedule for the next day. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came on the phone and told me that he has new staff, and they didn't do their jobs right by allowing me to make a next-day appointment. Since my son hasn't been seen since 2019, he is no longer considered a patient. I told him it was during COVID, and all his shots were up to date, so I understand this policy. He then said to stop cutting him off and that my kids are no longer patients there and to find somewhere else to go. I asked for his name, and he hung up on me. I can't believe CS is letting their business be run by people with poor training, running it into the ground. The sad part the doctors are nice and friendly. read more

We have been there a total of four times for my newborn. We have seen three different doctors, by choice. Pros: appointment availability, weekend hours, walk-in hours and the availability of doctors! Also they have a section for checkups and a section for sick children. I don't know how many germs it keeps away but psychologically it helps! The nurses are phenomenal! My son pooped on one twice in one visit and she handled it like a champ! They worked with me while my insurance added my newborn. You will have to pay $100 until insurance kicks in, but it becomes a credit. Cons: the front desk staff doesn't always provide the best customer service, but it hasn't deterred me from going. I've liked most of the doctors that I've seen. The great thing is you don't have to schedule with a doctor if you don't want to, there are so many in the practice! read more

We have been visiting cornerstone for some labs for my daughter. The experience has been a terrible one. This is coming from many experiences over few months. Pre covid experience : they have nurses with very limited skills and bad attitude. One does a good job without hurting a child. Few others unable to draw the blood without a screaming child - reason : the nurses are new in practice. During Covid : First time - nurses could not withdraw the blood despite of poking twice (on different arms)!! So an hour of risky clinic exposure was a waste. So we quarantined for 2 weeks. Second visit - Took from the finger instead of vein. The Nurse said she didn't know (inspite is all the history) that it has to be taken from the vein. She then said we don't have nurse currently on the premise who are experienced with the vein withdrawal. Another risky exposure without any use. Third visit : Nurse checked us in. We were waiting in the room. After 45 mins, I came out to check to find out they don't have the Blue / pink color tubes which are required. So they were on the call with Lab Corp. was not it supposed to be done before an appointment ? Another risky exposure. Moreover, their attitude during this was terrible. They asked us to call beforehand and check tubes are available. How would we know what is required and not for these tests? read more

When my son was 7 I took him in for behavior problems. The doctors used no checklist but instead lit into my parenting skills. My son was eventually diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a Mood Disorder by competent physicians at a better practice. I do not recommend business to anyone. I didn't had a good experience with my visit this time. My daughter's finger got slammed in the door we rushed her to the office since it's bleeding & swollen. The front desk people were nice enough to give a quick appointment. The doctor saw it asked me to go for an X-ray, they didn't clean the finger. I got her X-ray done and waited for the results we didn't hear anything until next morning 10:40 AM. I got so mad and went to the office the people in the front desk told me the doctor got the report he will check the report and call me. They charged us $227 which is unreasonable for the level of service and time that we received. We tried to dispute but no one from the practice would discuss it with us. Now she gave us a referral and we are already at 50 degree and need surgery! So disappointed in this pediatric care esp. lack of knowledge! I'm a little upset to say the least! I've been coming to cornerstone for 8 years with 3 children and traveled 30 minutes from my home. I love most of their doctors, but very disappointed with the way the practice has declined the last few years. I recently took my children in for their flu shots and the nurse was VERY rude and rough with my children. They were very nervous and she had no patience. I kick myself for not walking out. I later called to speak to the manager and the front desk people were very unprofessional and sent me to the managers voicemail. I never received a phone call back!!! This review is for Dr Parmar, not the clinic. We went in for a sick visit today which was a 30 + minute wait. When she entered the room I explained to her as I did the medical assistant that both my daughters with me have the same symptoms, including a cough for an extended period of time. Her response was Wait-I'm just seeing only the one on the schedule. Ok rude but we moved on. So she checked her out and again I explained my older daughter had just been in a few days prior with another Dr, but they have the same symptoms and they room together. I added that my husband is a physician and has monitored them and believes they both need antibiotics. At that point the visit went downhill quickly with Dr Parmar. She said "I see 28 kids a day, including having one of my own who has been sick so I know what I'm talking about" The tone and manner in which she spoke to me was shocking. Before the visit ended, she said You'll have to talk to the desk about your other daughter. Funny enough, the nurse called me and I explained my other daughter had just been seen a few days prior. She said Well that Dr is not in but I can see if Dr Parmar will look at her chart. I said Nope-she already refused in the room with my daughters sitting there. I will never schedule another appointment with her and interesting, someone wrote a vague 5 star review just today for her. Seems fishy. read more

Being new to an area and expecting your first kid comes will all different stressors. For me, I wanted to find a solid pediatrician close to the house that was affiliated with where I was delivering. Cornerstone Peds was referred to me from one of my co-workers. My husband and I went in for a seminar they hold for first time parents and I fell in love with the place. They have separate sick and well waiting rooms as well as a newborn section. The entire setting is very child friendly and really looks at meeting where kids are developmentally with their design and explanations of different parts of the practice- such as where you go to get your eyes and ears checked out. As a child life specialist, walking into such a child friendly environment really put my mind at ease. After delivery, the Peds doctor, Dr, Gelber could not have been more wonderful. Our doctor now is Dr. Nayal and she is terrific with my kiddo. When we needed an outside referral she knew a great specialist to get us established with. The nurses are quick when administering vaccinations- so much so that it even surprises me how quickly it gets done- which means an easier time for my son. I really appreciate their skill! I do wish that when I left a message on the consult line I got a call back a bit sooner, but they are a busy practice and my calls have not been of the highest emergency, and when I have needed a sick visit, I am taken without a problem. read more

As a review years later (I should stress that specifically), the clinic's just dandy with routine necessities from my experiences; physicals, shots, etc. The mitigating visits are more of my problem with the responses, which is behind my rating. This doesn't include my concerns of sexual trauma they handled safely like professionals. checking for wounds or scars, infection testing, discussing allotted time between suspected sex crimes I couldn't recall from years before and the time of the exam, etc. But my reservations come in several crucial things. I had an allergic reaction that wasn't identified at the end of the appointment. which I'm begrudged a relative in the medical field took photos off out of some "fascination" at different angles and poses. My hands had a sudden outbreak of itchy welts at midnight, which I first felt, then told the relative about and only saw under light of a lamp or flashlight. I stayed in the master bedroom in case I had worse episodes, and when I woke up, my hands were the sizes of lemons from swelling. The office took me in for emergency, took my blood, but only identified my allergies, not the source of the outbreak and swelling of my hands. No further measures were taken after, but maybe it's concerningly related to recent increases of hives I've had on my hands and chin, albeit nothing close to as alarming or critical as that episode, but I still dread might be autoimmune or metabolic or something, maybe even some stress-provoked rarity since I have to be emotionally bad or not great with my sleep when I have the hives. This is years after, so the office isn't responsible for checking those breakouts. But the office didn't have a plan when I wasn't working out my dietary needs at a healthy pace, because I took out unhealthy foods, stress of my daily routine took my time from finding enough replacement healthier foods, and I saw a significant weight drop.. I was nearly if not classified "anorexic" and coerced into a contract signing that had the ultimatum of psych ward commitment if I didn't comply or fell short of improving my diet and taking psychiatric prescriptions. It barely pulled off any results in my diet, narrowly meeting some standard like a quota, and per my usual reactions, the drugs numbed me out and pulled out my sublimated and confused issues more. I was taken off the pills and sent to family counseling with the relative. The office sent me to the ward on the second appointment the moment I mentioned even a hint of suicidal ideation. I've never gone back to the counseling office and since changed primary care clinics when I turned of age. I continued routine appointments for the time being, exams, shots, stitch removal, etc. and the office has since changed practitioners I now know, but I don't look back well on how the task orientation and preferences to not rock the boat and offend anyone seemed like a bigger elephant in the room than my more drastic medical situations. I'm no longer on psychiatric prescriptions, as I'm left with dissociation that put my mind into hibernation with how much I physically reject the pills, and I'm permanently left bloated, especially in my gut, well after the clinic and outside of its borders. I had to keep to a primary care clinic on my second try, as the relative's colleagues appointed me with a clinic that assigned me a disturbed, lewd physician still working there, and even the office I currently got to took much time with me to match me with the doctor I needed. But I'm hoping Cornerstone has improved and not repeated the same unease and recklessness. In all fairness, the office certainly should be given a chance to communicate with patient and the patient communicate as well to the office. If the office has adapted and acclimated and has what's needed to do so, and if patients need what the office provides and would like to receive care, appointments should be welcome to be arranged by everyone who cares to maintain healthcare regimens. If the office is concerned and needs to provide clarification and reassurance, that needs support. Best of luck! read more

My family and I have been going to Cornerstone Pediatrics for the last 21 years. I can tell you that my experience with Cornerstone has been perfect each and everytime. Anytime anyone in the area ask for a recommendation for a peditrician office I have and will continue to always reccomend Cornerstone Peds. The doctors have all taken care of my children with the utmost concern, patients and thoroughness each time they are seen. When my son was a baby he was so sick there were times when I had to visit the office every single day. I want to say that you can't go wrong with any of the doctors as we have at one time or another seen them all. However, I can't say enough wonderful things about these particular doctors: Dr. Wilson, Dr. Wedegaertner, Dr. Rutledge, Dr. Gelber, Dr. Nayal, Dr. Kallman ( now my grandaughers doctor) and last but certainly not least Sherill Steen PA. They have all given us the care you would expect from a family member but Sherill Steen is truly amazing. I won't and cant forget the amazing staff from the time you walk in the door until you leave above and beyond in every circumstances are the words that come to mind. I moved out of cary and had to travel 40 min to keep our doctors. Recently, I have moved out of state recently and my children will continue to go to cornerstone for her annual physicals despite this move. That should tell you everything! I have sent request after request from another state and they still continue to provide us with the utmost accomodations and genuine concern. Did I mention that have saturday appointments. It is almost always overbooked it seems. Every doctor we have seen has shown up at least 30-40 mins late to wellness visits. It is also discouraging that they are not willing to fully listen and understand parents concerns. Wait and watch approach only works for healthy kids! There should not be one model fits all approach, specially with babies that are not able to verbalize how they are feelings. We had nothing but fantastic interactions with all of the staff and Dr. Gelber took time to listen and to address any questions or concerns we had. I had to contact the office today, years later, for some records. I have been with Cornerstone Pediatrics for over 23 years and have been getting physicals for sports for the past 15 years for my sons. This year, they charged me for a Depression Screening Analysis as part of the physical. First off, I did not authorize the charge and if I need a screening for depression, I would ask that a psychiatrist handle this versus a 10 question assessment. In my opinion, this was a way to get around the fact that the Insurance pays less and less each year by shifting out costs to get more money. I have called the office and was not given a satisfactory answer on why this was done when I did not authorize this. . For the past few years, we have been pushed extra vaccines outside of Tetanus for my teenage son where I could just decline, but I was never given a choice on this treatment. While I loved how they handled my sons when they were infants/toddlers, it is almost like a factory for teenagers unless it is a sick visit. I am happy to say my son is now 18 and I will be able to move him to another doctors office (with a fee from Cornerstone) for his medical records to be released. read more

Dr nayal is truly wonderful. She has helped our son in an emergency due to his cardiac condition on the very first appointment. They caught the issue right away and got him to the hospital. We have been patients of Cornerstone Pediatrics for a long time. We have been pretty much satisfied with the basic routine checks... until we called about an emergency that happened at school and requested to be seen by a physician to determine what to do. We spoke to somebody at the front desk (who was obviously was not qualified to diagnose) who said we don't do stitches. Please go to urgent care. When they told us where we should go, we asked do you have their phone number or address, they actually told us to Google it! My daughter was hit in the face with a baseball bat and they did not care! This place has really gone downhill!! Shame on you Cornerstone. I absolutely cannot say enough positive things about cornerstone pediatric. I have been taking my son here for over 2 years and just started taking my daughter. Primary is Dr Wilson however we have seen many of the physicians at this practice and have not been disappointed. Some positions spend more time than others so you may have to cycle through a few to figure out what best fits your style and needs. read more
