I rarely write reviews, but after everything our family has endured with Cornerstone Pros, I feel obligated to share our experience. Our daughter was born and admitted to the NICU on July 24. On the same day, our air conditioning system failed. Given the circumstances, we contacted Cornerstone Pros hoping for a smooth and professional experience during an already stressful time. A technician, Zach, came out the following day and informed us that our 20-year-old system needed to be replaced. Wanting the most budget-friendly option available, we purchased a Goodman SEER2 system for $8,855. We were assured the installation would be completed the next day. Unfortunately, the installation was a disaster from start to finish. During the installation, the technicians discharged refrigerant inside our 1,252-square-foot townhouse. Instead of calmly handling the situation and instructing my husband and 8-year-old son to evacuate, the lead installer's response was to yell an expletive and run outside. My husband had to evacuate the home himself while experiencing dizziness and lightheadedness. When we called Cornerstone Pros, we were told their technicians should know how to handle these situations and should be equipped with proper protective equipment. Based on what we observed, that was not the case. The problems continued throughout the day. The air handler was left sitting outside in pouring rain for over an hour. The lead installer repeatedly took smoke breaks, engaged in lengthy personal conversations, and eventually disclosed that he did not know how to wire the system. We later learned that measurements taken during the sales visit were incorrect, requiring modifications to our air-handler closet during installation. What should have been a routine installation stretched from 10:00 a.m. until nearly 11:00 p.m., despite the fact that we had an 8-year-old child in the home and a newborn daughter in the NICU. Throughout the day, there was unprofessional language, complaints about the company, damage to paint within our home, and a substantial mess left behind. The next day, while trying to focus on my daughter in the NICU, I had to leave the hospital and return home because of ongoing issues with the installation. The installation manager, Brad, had to personally come out to complete work that should have already been finished. He informed us the installation should have been completed by approximately 4:00 p.m. and discovered additional deficiencies, including wiring issues and a compressor that had not been properly secured. To his credit, Brad worked to correct several problems and provided an extended warranty and labor coverage. Other technicians were later sent out to repair damage and installation issues left behind. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. While our daughter remained in the NICU, we were repeatedly contacted for payment despite the numerous unresolved issues and the extraordinary circumstances our family was facing. Although we paid our balance, the lack of compassion and customer service was disappointing. A Hillsborough County inspection later revealed additional installation errors that required yet another service visit. Cornerstone Pros returned to correct deficiencies involving the electrical panel and air handler. After that repair, they had to return the same evening because work performed on the electrical panel disrupted power to our refrigerator. Then our brand-new system began repeatedly failing. On August 26, the AC stopped working and another technician was dispatched. We were told a metal plate should not have been installed and that the drain lines needed attention. The system worked for approximately one day before failing again on August 28. Another visit resulted in us being told that the same metal plate actually was supposed to be there. Now, as I write this review, the system has once again stopped working. In one month, we have had approximately ten visits related to a brand-new $8,855 HVAC system. Instead of spending my maternity leave bonding with my newborn daughter, I have spent it scheduling service calls, waiting for technicians, and dealing with recurring installation mistakes. We now have a one-month-old baby in the home and continue to experience air conditioning failures. While a few employees, particularly Brad, made genuine efforts to fix the situation, the overall experience has been unacceptable. The repeated installation errors, lack of professionalism, poor communication, and ongoing system failures have caused our family an enormous amount of unnecessary stress during what should have been a special time welcoming our daughter into the world. I cannot recommend Cornerstone Pros based on our experience. A new HVAC system should not require this many repairs, service calls, and corrections within the first month of ownership. read more

Four years ago I hired Cornerstone to install brand new AC system for my house that cost over $ 5,000. One reason I chose them they assured me when I need service they will be there to take care of me. Last Sunday, Fathers day my AC system would not work I called Cornerstone who proceeded to tell me the earliest they could be out to fix system was 3 days later. I explained to them the heat index is over 100 degrees and my disabled daughter cannot stay in this heat! Cornerstone would not make any exceptions to get someone out that day for service. A friend of mine advised me to call Egberts AC they were unbelievable getting a service tech out in less than 2 hours and repaired system works perfectly now! I paid $4000 two weeks ago to have my ac fixed. At that time, after the first technician came out and took a deposit for the repair, the 2nd technician quickly went downhill telling me I needed another $3k repair for half the work. The technician was making it sound like it would break down within 2 weeks if I didn't do the other thing. Well, now here we are two weeks later, it worked until today. And to come out, they want another trip fee if it's anything other than that coil, but I have already spent $4000 with them and they have been telling me so many different things that I can almost guarantee you they will admit no fault. I would strongly caution homeowners before using Cornerstone Pros for plumbing work. I hired them to relocate a toilet water supply line so the shutoff valve would be accessible. The toilet was functioning properly before their work. After their technician moved the line and reset the toilet, the toilet became loose and had to be revisited because a mounting bolt had not been tightened properly. About 90 days later the toilet began leaking. Cornerstone charged $475 to "pull and reset" the toilet but did not replace the connector hose that was identified as the source of the leak. Instead, a temporary repair using plumber's tape was performed. The toilet leaked again shortly afterward. A licensed plumber I hired confirmed the connector hose needed replacement and discovered a hand towel wrapped around the hose behind the toilet. I ultimately paid another plumber $480 to properly repair the issue. I have requested a refund and reimbursement but have not received a resolution. read more

Had a new Daikin AC system installed in my home in 2021, by Cornerstone Pros. It was trouble from the start. The installation was a nightmare. At first they did not install the paid for dust filter under the air handler. It took three days for them to install, then they could not get it to run. In five years we have had too many expensive repairs even with their Extended Service agreement. The last one was the coil system in the air handler was replaced. Now the outside condenser is bad and the Daikin Dist. Goodman will not stand behind the replacement of anything. Also, had a home service agreement for plumbing and electrical. Cornerstone did an inspection about 3 months ago and tried their best to sell unnecessary service work, like replacing all the circuit breakers in my electric panel. $3,200.00. When told know got oh we have financing. The HVAC guy told me that Cornerstone sold me the incorrect ac, we have a 4t and he said they should have sold a 5t. Out of the mouth of their own employee. If you're considering Cornerstone Pro's or Daikin you will over pay and have countless service calls by representative's that will underperform and overcharge. read more

We have been customers of Cornerstone Pro for many years and have participated in their service plan throughout that time. Recently, we called for a leaking garbage disposal, which ultimately required replacement. We approved the installation; however, we were charged $903 for the service. The replacement unit itself retails for approximately $350, making the total cost appear significantly overpriced. When we requested a detailed invoice outlining parts and labor, we were informed that they do not provide itemized invoices--only a receipt. In the past, we have always received proper documentation, so this was both surprising and disappointing. Given the excessive pricing and lack of transparency--especially as long-standing plan members--we have chosen to cancel our service plan and will be seeking service elsewhere. read more

I have used this company for many years, even had a monthly service plan for around $10. They are responsive and usually professional. Appointments are easy to schedule, and technicians arrive when expected, which is not necessarily the case with other companies. HOWEVER: The downside is they are ALWAYS trying to upsell. It must be their business MO, because it's the plumbers and HVAC technicians. They don't want to fix your problem, but rather want to sell you a brand new overly expensive system, even when only basic fixes are needed. I'm sure this tactic works with a lot of customers unfortunately. I just had another HVAC company out to check Cornerstone's advice and estimates. He got everything up and running at a fraction of the cost, no doom and gloom about at an aging system, no unnecessary bells and whistles. Rolled up his sleeves, did actual work, did it well, and all for a fair price. AND he was professional, prompt, and communicated clearly. We had the dishwasher replaced and found that it also wouldn't drain because the dishwasher drain plug was not punched out of the new garbage disposal when installed. VERY DISHONEST company and technicians. The receptionist is unhelpful and filters your calls. Called to speak to a supervisor, manager or owner, but they never returned my call or message. Issue: Called for AC not cooling. They charged for everything minor they could; outrageous prices and many hidden fees within the invoice. The first time, they mis-diagnosed the issue where I paid $2,300, but issue was not fixed. They came out again, and said it was another problem and would cost additional $1,900 . Even though all the AC parts were covered under the manufacturer warranty and was not charged for parts, they charged me over $1800 for labor. The technician was out at the site for only 35 minutes. I called the company. They explained that the technician charges for the time looks up the part on the system, time he orders the part, and the time he picks up the part. Just a sneaky and dishonest way of inflating the bill. There is more, but you get the idea. read more

In 2023 they had a tech come out and tell me the reason my house wasn't cooling was because the unit was stuck in heat and he said he fixed it. I had to have another tech come out because it still wasn't working and he said the unit was 15 years old and not covered under warranty and was leaking Freon and would need a whole new system, they will call me back with the dollar amount for the repair. Truth was, my unit was only 7 years old and it has a 10 year parts warranty, he just makes commission off selling new units. I called twice to receive a refund for everything I have paid them, including the membership they kept me signed up for for MONTHS after I called to cancel it. While on the phone, a rep named Cathleen was extremely rude to me and I asked for the call to be escalated, she said they will call back, I said I can wait, she then threatened to not log the call for someone to call back if I did not get off the phone. Their tech put about 10 pounds of Freon into a unit that they knew was leaking. read more

I bought a brand new system from them 2.5 years ago. The compressor on the fan motor went out yesterday and while the system is under warranty thankfully, the soonest this company can get out to us is in 3 days while it's 90+ each day this week. My son has a medical condition and he cannot stay in the house without the AC working, so now I have to take my family to a hotel for the next 3 days. They could not care less. Cornerstone is an absolute joke of a company and I regret giving them a single dime. The most important day in a HVAC system's lifespan is the day it's installed- the fact that it's only been 2.5 years and this system had a major component fail this soon tells me their install team is awful. read more

A technician came to the house on Thursday for an annual inspection. As part of that inspection, he flushed the water heater in the garage. I didn't worry about the stream of water that came from underneath the water heater after he left, thinking it would soon dry up. On Saturday, the stream was still there, indicating the system was leaking. I called Cornerstone, and the tech said he couldn't schedule anyone to come out until Tuesday. That made no sense since this company has after-hours service and should have come out that day to fix the issue they caused. I told him how ridiculous that lack of customer service was and that I needed someone out to fix the issue as soon as possible. He said he'd try to get someone out sooner. No one came out sooner. In fact, no one came out on Tuesday at all. I called Wednesday morning, and the rep couldn't even find where anyone was scheduled to come out on Tuesday. That is very poor, unacceptable customer service. He said he would try to get someone out that day. I told him he "would" get someone out that day because my water heater had been leaking for six days at that point, and they should have been out Saturday when I first called. The same tech who flushed the water heater on Thursday finally arrived around 5:20 in the afternoon on Wednesday. Obviously, the leak they caused wasn't much of a priority. He couldn't find the source of the leak and said it was very unusual for a system in use for only 6 years would fail (remember this!). He tried to call into the office for what to do next, and this took 45 minutes. How does it take 45 minutes for a tech to reach the office? He finally said the system would have to be replaced, and it wasn't his fault it failed. It was a bad coincidence that it failed on the day he inspected it. I wasn't buying that. The issue here is that if a system is working and 1 variable is introduced to that system, causing it to fail, the variable is the problem. He was the variable, yet he stood by his assessment that it was only a "bad" coincidence. Let's go back to that line I want whoever reads this to remember. It would be highly unusual for my water heater to fail, given its age. Yet it did fail. Not only that, it failed right after the technician flushed it. What are the odds that this was just a "bad" coincidence? Not good. In fact, the odds would be extremely low. What they should have done was taken responsibility and fixed the issue they obviously caused, however they needed to do that. They should have either restored the system to the working order it was in Thursday morning before the technician touched it, or they should have replaced it at their cost. No questions asked. That's what companies that put the customer first do. Instead, they completely washed their hands of it and put all the burden on me to get it replaced. This is not a company I will ever do business with again. The sad part is that if they had taken care of this issue, that they caused, I would not only still be a customer, but I'd tell others how great their customer care is. As is, I will tell others how bad their customer care is in my experience and that they should choose any other company but Cornerstone. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more

Cornerstone Air installed our AC in 2015. In 2020, they advised us that our unit platform was not pitched properly. They rebuilt the platform. Now, 3 years later, they told us that the platform is bowed. The technician told us that they should have used 3/4" plywood back in 2020, but my platform is only 1/2" plywood. The line backed up which, with a level platform, should cause the safety switch to engage and shut off the unit. The backed up line was not Cornerstones fault and I paid $248 for them to clear the line. However, the fact that the platform (built by cornerstone in 2020) was not level due to the wood bowing), caused additional problems. Since the platform was not level, the water flowed out out instead of the safety switch shutting it off (if it had been pitched properly, it would not cause water to flow out) and ruined my daughters carpet. Yes, the line was backed up. However, if the platform was level, the safety switch would have engaged, shutting off the unit and preventing water spillage. Now, they want to rebuild the platform again and they want us to pay for the rebuild. A platform, if done correctly, should last the life of the AC unit. Since it was not done correctly with the wood needed to support the size of my unit, it didn't last more than 3 years and now needs to be rebuilt. It didn't warp to do water. If it was level, the safety switch would have worked. The warp caused the water to flow out from the back up. So... here I am, stuck with paying for a platform rebuild due to them not properly building a platform to hold my AC unit for the duration of its life. In addition, I have another added expense to redo my daughter's carpeting. read more

Cornerstone is a good company with capable and professional technicians, but could have better customer service and care. After an excellent experience getting our air-conditioner system replaced, we called the plumbers regarding a shower leak. They gave us three proposals for repair, but were not responsive to questions about the options offered. They replaced the shower basin quite well, but we had to find another company to tile over it. So far, they haven't reinstalled the shower door, after having removed it. read more

We previously used Cornerstone for a plumbing issue so when we had a major problem late Saturday afternoon, we called them again. We found a drip in our garage ceiling and when we pushed on the ceiling...water poured out! We concluded it was coming from the second floor a/c. Called them and Tim, our technician, came out to inspect. He was very knowledgeable and super nice. He wanted us to understand the system we had and he reviewed it with us. He found the problem and had it fixed in a couple hours. He kept us informed throughout the entire job and answered all of our questions. We signed up for their monthly program and will be calling to schedule our plumbing inspection soon. We are very happy with the service we received and would recommend highly! Earlier today, I used Yelp's "Request an Estimate" service in search of a plumber to clear a complicated backup in a multi-unit shared plumbing line. Mind you, it's Sunday, a busy holiday weekend, and a subtropical rain storm has literally just passed through. Daniel responded to my online inquiry and as soon as I called to provide him with additional information, he promptly dispatched Reese, who saved the day here in my condominium! Reese gave me a call when he was on his way and as soon as he arrived, he assessed the situation and worked so hard to help us clear this clog, keeping me apprised of his progress the entire time. He was conscientious about not dirtying my place, which I greatly appreciated, and he even provided me with his personal/professional opinion about preventing similar drain line backups in the future! Because of the awesome service I received tonight, I plan to tell my fellow board members about Cornerstone and I hope that we will do business with them again in the future (hopefully for a different reason though, ha!). read more

My upstairs toilet stopped filling water after flushing. This happened a few days ago and I could not use the toilet unless I filled water in the tank manually each time I used the bathroom. Uggh I used yelp to find a local plumber and based on reviews, I called Cornerstone. The customer service associate, Caleb was very helpful in setting up an appointment for today. Gary C. was the plumber who arrived. He was very cautious about not getting dirt in the house. He diagnosed the problem as a broken fill valve and recommended changing the fill line from the plastic one we had to a metallic coil with brass ends. He said that type was better since it could be bent and still work well. He did the repair in less than 30 minutes and was able to knock of $20 off the initial service call. He was able to send an invoice to my email for my records instantly which was appreciated. Gary was very amenable to my asking lots of technical questions and was very friendly. While I hate repair, Cornerstone made it a very painless experience. Thanks! read more

In all of my years on this planet dealing with contractor after contractor this is absolutely the worst contractor I've ever dealt with in all of my time. Can I simplify or understate how horrible this contractor is? They kicked my ceiling in and did not repair it. On two separate instances they tried to burn down my house and my whole wall turn black. Brand new installation has only worked at most two months at a time and I'm over a year in and out of warranty now. our air conditioner went out July 1, 2023, called Cor east one on July 2, 2023. tech was out noon that day. We were told that the unit was out of Freon, the tech gave us a quote of $350 a pound for the first pound and $321 for each pound after. Because our unit is 20 yrs old he had to ask his boss if he could put r22 in which he didn't have on his truck. He returned the next day to put the Freon in, which was almost 4 pounds. The bill was over $1300. After calling three other businesses and was quoted their prices which ranged from $75 to $100 per pound I felt we were taken advantage of. I called Cornerstone this morning and talked with the manager which she told me that was their price. The tech did not check for any leaks before he put the Freon in. I am writing reviews in several places. I would not even give them a star for their business but I have to give at least one. read more

My five ton, $6,000 system failed county inspection. after multiple calls to get them to come back out, I was told it would be scheduled for Friday, June 23. i even got a conformation text the night before. No call, no show today. when I called they said I was only tentatively scheduled, and they had no technician. They pretend they had no idea what I was talking about when I said I had a confirmation text and a call from Becky, their scheduler. Good luck using these people. read more
