Kylie, the technician was completely amazing, friendly, really sweet, kind hearted with my pet and very professional. I was really happy with the level of care. The doctor was awesome, but what surprised me the most was that the owner of the practice named Heidi Anthony came in and introduced herself & welcomed us to the practice and had a nice conversation with her. I was astonished with the level of care of the professionalism & friendliness and care that they gave my dog. They didn't even try to upsell me on different products which kept it economical for me . Oliver my Pomeranian will forever be a patient there now. I'm still amazed how great they were. They gave me a little goodie bag with treats in it for Oliver. They're amazing. Gulf Animal Hospital is now on the list of things I miss most from home. Dr. A is by far the best vet we have ever visited. You never feel as though he is rushed, and he takes the time to answer questions and explain pros and cons of procedures. Prior to moving we always brought our temperamental German Shepherd to Gulf Animal Hospital. Despite his less than friendly demeanor, he was always treated like the special pup we believe him to be. I recently visited St. Pete from Texas and brought my 6lb chihuahua. During my visit, my Chihuahua was attacked by another dog and we both sustained some injuries. My first thought was to bring her to Gulf Animal Hospital immediately. I arrived around noon and tearfully explained to the receptionist what had just happened. Dr. A was just about to walk out the door, but he took the time to see my pup. Dr. A and the vet tech quickly attended to my dog, and also took care of me. They helped calm me, had me wash my cut hands in their sink and gave me Star Wars bandaids for my cuts. Fortunately, my chihuahua wasn't seriously injured. I think Dr. A could sense my stress and shock. He made sure to repeat instructions for my pup's care and explain potential problems to watch for. Upon returning to Texas, I brought my pup to another vet for a follow up. I could not help but compare my Texas vet to Dr. A, and there really was no comparison. As other reviewers have said, Gulf Animal Hospital is not in the business of taking your money unnecessarily. They do, however, provide care based on the best interest of your pet. Dr. A is extremely knowledgeable and caring. I trust that he treats my dogs the way he would treat his own. The results were advanced cancer, and Dr. Authement showed amazing compassion for both me and my cat. After my cat passed, I received a card signed by all of the staff, and that meant a lot to me. I recently adopted a kitten, and rather than return to my previous vet, I've continued visiting Gulf Animal Hospital and seeing Dr. Authement. He explains everything so well, and I never feel rushed. This is the type of vet that gets to know your pet. And the way he speaks to your pet when he's treating it really shows his love for animals. The front office staff are also extremely nice.

This is the second time that we've taken our little dog, Sibber, to the Community Animal Hospitals…read moreon 54th Ave. N. Both visits have been very good experiences. Two visits, four different people, and we had the same great experience both times. Consistent, communicative, great care and a good price. The first visit was for an initial check up (we moved recently and needed a vet closer to our new home). The second was due to a significant ear issue that Sibber was having. We called in the morning and they were able to fit us in even though they were a doc down. Our consultant/vet tech, Yazmin, was extremely professional, knowledgeable and personable. She apologized for the wait (which really wasn't long at all) and kept us informed as to what she was doing and what was coming up. The vet came in and was very thorough and explained very clearly what the problem and possible next steps could be. Twice during the conversation he asked if we had any questions. I was very appreciative that I didn't feel that it was a one-way communication at all. Next, Yazmin gave us quotes on everything that the doc had mentioned. After asking for and getting clear explanations as to what each cost was for, we determined what we wanted and didn't want. I never felt that she was forcing us to do (and pay for things) that we didn't think Sibber needed at that time. The treatments worked and Sibber is close to 100% again! Please for the sake of your baby stay away from this office! I took my Baby to see a doctor there…read moreright after I adopt her they immediately gave her Cytopoint and Apoquel. a few months later they gave her librella for osteoarthritis just based on moving her leg a little and without x-rays. Also they gave her this injection of liberella after being diagnosed with doggy dementia, a big No No, and I'm the one that literally educated the doctor about CCD it instead of the other way around. So I paid all this money and walked out of there with nothing! No advice no suggestions nothing on how to handle this. Well about 6 months later her neurological disorders were popping out almost simultaneously Librela just kind of triggered different neurological disorders in her brain. She suffered tremendously, mentally and physically and I'm the one that had to end her life six months later, after her first injection. Librela does absolutely nothing for the arthritis, in fact there has been many cases where It actually made the arthritis much worse because it doesn't treat it. It's just tells the brain to not feel the pain and they don't, so they're more active, running around, playing and they're seriously injuring themselves now. Then our stupidly brought in my seconds rescue and they immediately gave her Apoquel and then about 3 months later, I was literally sold Cytopoint as it was easier, more convenient, everything. Then about 2 weeks later she slowly stopped eating overtime her dog food. Then she stopped eating her treats and her supplements now she's only taking few bites everyday. I found a real good doctor not corporate. He was the only doctor in the office. He was very caring, concerned and very educated on all of these drugs and their serious side effects, In fact he does not use Librela at all, never has. There were no drug advertisements in the office at all. That was so refreshing. Well, he found a mass in her bladder, TCC a progressive cancer that likely was progressed because her immune system was compromised by Cytopoint. So now I literally have to nurse her and just wait for the time that I have to let another baby go, just a year later. I am truly devastated I am angry I feel everybody motion possible I have yet another loss to try to handle and deal with because of ignorant veterinarians and drug companies that don't care they're just out for the money. In fact there are an 64.97 billion dollar company. well I hope they're happy while I'm feeling this pain and loss. Just please do your homework, look around, shop around, find a good doctor, a real good doctor that actually cares and will do the right thing for your baby because this office will not! I believe it's just pure ignorance.

Can't leave a negative score review. I truly wish I could…read more I may lose my beloved dachshund Darla due to the incompetent treatment by this business. We traveled to Florida for the first time with our girl. She got a terrible case of fleas despite having good treated her with Frontline. I called this business looking for a flea treatments that would protect her. During the exam I mentioned Darla needed a dental cleaning. They mentioned that it was dental month and if I scheduled a cleaning, I would receive an additional discount on the blood work. They appeared to be diligent and professional. So I scheduled a dental procedures and signed a permission slip that stated she might need 2 teeth removed. I understood this as Darla is 10 years old. Darla has had dental cleanings at home and a couple of teeth removed as she is a rescue. We dropped her off on her appt. At 9:30. I was told I could pick her up at 3:30. At 12:00, I noticed I had missed a call on my cell. I called back immediately and got a recording that stated they were out of the office until 2:30. I kept calling thinking they would be available for people checking on their pets. At 3:30, we went to pick up our dog expecting a dental cleaning and possibly 2 extractions. Imagine our surprize when we were informed that they had pulled 11 Teeth! The receptionist must have realized we were shocked because the vet came out and started to tell me the 'why' of such extreme extractions. Now, I am not a vet so I could not dispute what she was telling me. At this point, I just want to get my Darla and check on her. The vet then told me that because Darla had been under anesthesia for so long the vet had been unable to finish closing the holes left from pulling 2 teeth which had caused bone loss and now we're open INTO THE DOGS SINUSES! And that an additional surgery was needed to put a flap over these areas to stop food from getting into these 1\2 inch holes! She suggested we return the following week. I explained that , 'as I had told them at the time, I made the cleaning appt, we were leaving the next day come back to CT the next day!' I asked that they supply antibiotics so should food get in the holes during our drive (RV), Darla would otherwise get an infection. They provided it at my insistence. We skipped the balance of our trip and drove home in 3 days. I immediately contacted my vet who put Darla on antibiotics for an additional week. We scheduled surgery for that time. On this last Tuesday Darla had surgery to close 2 holes approximately 1/2 inch in size. Oronasal fistula which are common is dachshunds. They are always considered possible when you remove canine teeth. The proper treatment is to deal with it immediately according to our vet. The lack of gum tissue in a narrow snout requires extra care to preserve any gum tissue so that a flap can be pulled down to seal off the hole. Success is varied if done immediately approximately 85 percent. Our vet was appalled at the damage done to the gum area when the teeth were removed. He did his best and we are keeping our fingers crossed. We will know within 2 weeks if Darla can heal. In my opinion, no additional work should have occurred past the work I authorized. At minimum, I should have been consulted. The vet should have known this fistula issue was possible in the breed and started there if time under anesthesia was an issue a dental not with the other 9 teeth. I feel the suggestion for us to return and finish the work is highly suspect. The lack of concern for infection from food entering the sinus is appalling. I should not have had to insist on antibiotics to protect against infection. Darla lost 2 lbs before we got her home. She was Incontinent and shook non stop. We pray our vet was able to save our girl. There is no other treatment for this issue beyond gum grafts and he used all the viable tissue he had. Beyond hoping our sweet Darla heals, we are now at $1300. 00 and counting because we trusted this business. Do your self and your pet a favor....DON'T!

Received notice that my cat was due soon for his rabies shot. I made the appointment which was two…read moreweeks past last year's vaccine but I checked his records and he actually got a three year vaccine. I called and two different people said if you're even a day past the one year mark, they won't do a three year (like he got last year). they said that is Pinellas County Ordinance/Law... Well, there IS no such law! they lied to me. it is the Vet's choice. I cancelled my appointment. three strikes and they are out. My last situation, they tried to keep alive my other cat after diagnosing her with diabetes and pancreatitis. Thousands of $$ later and many visits after her being in excruciating pain, I had her euthanized. I should've done much, much sooner. Know your rights! Know the law. Do not allow them to upsell. Don't allow their sweet workers and clean(ish) place fool you. The third strike was when, after they did a full exam, said "he's in perfect condition; perfect weight and by the way what are you feeding him.". I told them and the doc said oh, that's not nearly enough. we can recommend something from here...plus they'd convinced me that bloodwork was needed (not) because he was 8 years old (then).
