For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing. Do yourself a favor and visit this gallery - oh, and of course, don't forget, they also do excellent framing!!

Parking is metered and on the street. $1.00 gets you an hour. Trust me, you won't need it. I walked in the "gallery" and was hit with an overwhelming odor! It smelled like mildew and a convalescent home. It was awful, but I was already here so I decided to give it a chance. The front of the store is empty with an exception of a few canvas paintings- not properly displayed- but on the floor. To the right are some custom framing. I've seen a better selection and pricing at Micheal's Arts and Crafts store. In the next room is where the paintings were hung. They're all a mess as well. In no way do they display new talent or showcase art. The place is dusty and dirty. The staff barely spoke. This can hardly be categorized as a gallery. It's more like an art studio/rec room. They had an assortment of books, clothes, dishes, pins, beanie babies, toys, anything you can think of. There was so many unique items for a reasonable price. I expected the prices to be more on certain items because they're so unique. There weren't many people around to help because it was busy so you have to track someone down. When you're ready to pay you head towards the front of the store and they check you out. The cashier was very nice and asked me how my experience went and commented on my purchases. This is a cool store to visit and shop at if you're ever nearby.

Prices $ Mm this one is a bit tricky, while there are a lot of special pieces in this store I feel like there are some pieces that are overpriced (like fast fashion clothing items) juxtaposed to beloved and nostalgic beanie babies being priced for no more than $12.00 (which I expected the prices to be higher). So, honestly it's quite a hit and miss and dependent on your tastes. I'm not sure if this location haggles either as I have not purchased something from here yet. What I mean by that is, you will see all types of people and different walks of life here lol For example, while we were walking around shopping, we witnessed a drug deal go down. You can see schools, firefighter uniforms, racing, agriculture and even a small convenience store. The woman that works there was so sweet and welcoming. She offered us fruit on our way out. Next we went to see the train museum. It was so detailed and cute. Keep an eye out for the parts that move. There's a spot to step up on for the littlest to take a closer look. My toddler was still too small to see so I was carrying her around and a kind man brought out a stepping stool for her to stand up on. Last we went into the barn to see the horse and carriage. We enjoyed the sun outside in the garden and read some books. Overall we had a wonderful time and I was so grateful for everyone's hospitality.

I just don't know if the rules they have in place will work in our budget as the rental fee is a bit steep and doesn't even include chairs for a wedding ceremony at the gazebo lawn area. It also seems steep to have to secure one of their security people to serve a champagne toast. Those are logistics for our particular needs that don't effect this park as a whole.
