    Workshop

My son started here when he was 13, and Dennis took him under his wing immediately. Focus is on safety and technique, but Dennis gave him responsibility and independence to make great projects himself. I recommend this for anyone looking to learn a hobby that can also be a lucrative trade in the future.

Still need to stain, but was super happy about the way it turned out!

I took the beginner's class and it was a fun experience! I came in with absolutely zero knowledge but Dennis showed me how to use all sorts of different tools/machines safely. This is not a strict and structured class, so you have some freedom in how you want to make something (for the end table project, i made a coffee table instead as it would be more useful for me). Dennis goes around and gives each student advice and helps guide you to make your vision for a project a reality. He's also pretty funny and always has a stash of snacks/drinks to offer. You'll also be sure to meet a lot of awesome people here, and it was cool to see all the different sorts of projects everyone was working on each week. I'd definitely recommended for anyone looking for a new hobby to check this place out!

Dennis is an awesome instructor. He's been doing woodwork his whole life and his experience shows. I was nervous about being a beginner to woodwork and the safety aspect but he truly is the best at teaching the correct technique. I also enjoyed meeting with others in the workshop. It's nice to see what other people are working on. They are also very helpful and will offer a hand if you need it. If you're looking to give woodwork a try, I recommend Dennis! There are other levels to take as well if you've done this before.

Dennis customized a class for our girl scout troop so they could meet requirements of Cadette Woodworking Badge. He went above & beyond, showing them around his workshop and all of his extensive tools, both manual & power. He did the basic stuff required, but also taught them proper safety for each tool and the bigger equipment. He was an excellent teacher! Our girls felt confident and empowered by the end. Thank you Dennis for your time and attention!

I would give 6 stars if I could. Jasmine and Dennis are amazing teachers and artists. The service and individualized attention were like no other. They didn't make us feel rushed at all, and even gave us extra time. A very warm and friendly environment, you could tell that they are passionate about what they do and excited to share their craft with the community. You just don't find that in people these days! My best friend surprised me with this class for my birthday, and it was our first time wood turning. Jasmine made an otherwise intimidating task easy, approachable and fun while giving us creative freedom to make whatever design we wanted. She was attentive and so patient...pointing out tips and tricks as we went. I learned so much in just one class, and had a really awesome project to take home to boot!! This studio is far from home, but I'll be back again soon because you can't get a better experience than this.

Dennis you have been amazing! I absolutely love your class and look forward to going every week. You are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to wood working. Learning through youtube videos or other self learning methods does not compare to actually going and learning from you. I have learned so much! Thank you for your indescribable patience and kindness in the process. You truly care for each of your students. I have seen how you work with each person at their level to help them learn and achieve their woodworking goals, especially with myself :). I am sooo happy I joined your class it was worth every penny! Thank you again Dennis!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time taking woodshop classes with Dennis. Dennis is a great instructor. He's unbelievably knowledgeable and very patient with his students. You can be an experienced woodworker or have never touched a piece of lumber in your life, Dennis will teach you no matter what your skill level. There are a wide variety of tools, saws and other machines in the shop and you will become familiar with all/most of them. I just wish we had more time in our schedules to continue learning with more classes.

I'm a woman in my 50's and took the 12 week beginner class, as well as half of an intermediate class (6 wks). Dennis is smart, kind, fair and knows his craft! He even gives you a key to the workshop at the intermediate level! I learned how to use a mitre saw, table saw, band saw, planer, jointer, hand tools, and so much more! Made a cutting board, mallet, box and a table with mortise and tenon joints. Dennis has a library of books too! Other students are kind, helpful and fun to be with! This class teaches safety, safety, safety! Learned a valuable skill set, built confidence and had fun! This class is totally worth it!

Dennis and the shop helped me discover my passion for woodworking. I was looking for a new creative skill to balance my daytime job and a way to earn a side income. Dennis took me through the beginner - intermediate - advance class one project at a time. From learning how to operate all the tools in the shop, picking lumber, milling, how to do a glue up, explore different joineries, sanding and finishing. Such an amazing experience! He's very patient and helpful. I appreciate him very much. Can't believe it's been almost two years, I've finished the classes, launched a handcrafted furniture business, and still in love with woodworking, thanks to The Wood Work. Below are the products that I've handmade for my customers (checkout my business on Instagram / FB: @kayurevivalco)

    Entry Table

Wife bought me the beginner class as a Christmas present and I actually ended up extending to the year-long after! I love coming every week. Dennis is very good about teaching safety and is so generous with his tools and materials. I finally finished my entry table with the hidden drawer too!

*Client Perspective*…read more I do not recommend this place for paid services (face) as you can get the same value by going to a professional electrologist and have the confidence that they are doing it correctly and quickly. My issue is not with the electrologists as they are learning, but with the business not being fair in how they charge for services. Professionals only charge for hair removal time, but here the owner is including check-in, setup, and catapherisis (at the end) time which is usually 20-25 min. For an hour appt today, I had 35 minutes of actual treatment. On a prior visit, I had 5 minutes of hair removal for an hour session because the "senior" technician had not worked on the chin and could not remove the hair despite poking me dozens of times with the needle/probe. I brought these issues to the owner's attention because it is unethical how they are charging customers and not being transparent. Instead of using this feedback to improve business practices, she suggested I find another place. If the owner wants customers to be altruistic by giving students practice, then she should not be charging for any services since it is already benefiting her for-profit school and students. I am barely clearing my chin out in 8 sessions, as students remove approx. 40-50 hairs per hour compared to over 200 hairs by professionals. The value for your money and time is the same as going to a professional. I have found several electrologists in the area that are $90 per hour. The $20 per hour will cost the same in the long-run if the professional is removing 4x the rate as a student and more experienced to provide permanent results.

The good thing about becoming a CNA was that it would come in handy for nursing school. I'm in my 4th (4/5) semester at an RN program. Being a CNA gave my application a little boost since my program uses the point system. Don't waste your time taking a CNA course at a community college. You're wasting four months of your life on something you can do in 4 weeks.
