I have found the actual surgeons and practitioners to be fine. My issues are with the clerical and support staff. Rarely does anyone actually answer the phone. Everything goes to voicemail and only occasionally do they return your call in a timely manner. I get the distinct impression that everyone is overworked since the waiting room is always packed. I also have an issue with the cleanliness of the consultation rooms. If you look closely at the picture you can see how dirty and smudged the exam table, floor and stool are. Overall the establishment doesn't build confidence.

50 minutes on hold after a rep finally answer and put me back on the eternal hold. What a joke.

Cannot get a live representative to schedule an appointment. After phoning multiple times and multiple messages, hangups and eternal holds I went on line only to be directed to yet another form for HMO and cannot book an online appointment either. Worse phone/ receptionist management yet! FIX YOUR SYSTEM!! At least the doctors are good if you can get in the door.

Both my wife and I are patients of this practice and we both needed new hips this past year. Go figure. Ahh, the married couple who shares hip replacement surgery together, stays together. LOL. Our surgeon Dr Tooma and his NP Assistant Demetrio were great. He listened to our symptoms, did a thorough examination, ordering some tests, came back and explained the results, then reviewed our options and what our next steps might be. In the end, my wife went first and I was her wingman. I helped her over her three months of Post-Op and then she helped me. I recently had my three month followup and things are progressing nicely. Along with my Physical Therapy at All-Star on Antelope, things feel, well.... almost normal again. Btw, they also offer Physical Therapy here too. Thank you Dr Tooma and NP Demetrio!

We are very much in agreement with that form of medicine (Blue Zones), which looks for cause, rather than throwing a pharmaceutical at the symptom, and looks for natural ways and supplementation to heal the body! We are quite happy so far. We've had no problem reaching the appointment desk and scheduling appointments. The Athena Health website has been great for asking and receiving timely answers to questions I've had. The onsite lab has also been extremely helpful. Only one thing that others have mentioned in their reviews is that online questionnaires were not logged and once at the appointment, we were asked to redo it, which was bothersome. Overall, the care we've received has been wonderful! Dr Lily is awesome and we hope to continue here for many years to come!

Different antibiotics were prescribed and I was instructed to schedule a primary care follow up for continued treatment. Earliest available appointment was telemedicine about nine days out (next available in-person was 3+ weeks out). The day before my appointment, I received a voicemail stating they won't see me because I have to have an in-person appointment first and urgent care 'doesn't count'. I guess since I'm not dying, they don't need to see me.

He's performed my cervical spine epidural injections for years, and they've always been as pain-free and efficient as possible. He walks you through every step of the procedure, keeping you calm and comfortable. His skill and precision make the process quick and smooth unlike my experience with another doctor I saw once, which was far less pleasant. But what truly sets Dr. Kelling apart goes far beyond his technical ability. At one of the lowest points in my life, he looked at all of my symptoms as a whole instead of just focusing on his specialty. He told me something that completely changed my life: "It's not just one thing that's the problem, it's everything adding up and compounding on each other. You need to address each one." That one comment set me on a path to getting my life back. I went on to have three surgeries, the most significant being artificial disc replacements at C5/6 and C6/7. It turned out that I had an undiagnosed chordoma tumor growing around my C5/C6 nerves, pressing on my vertebral artery and eroding the bone. Catching that early may have saved my life. Without Dr. Kelling's insight and encouragement, I don't think I would have pursued those surgeries and I'm forever grateful that I did. His office staff also deserves credit. They are kind, patient, and incredibly helpful with navigating the insurance challenges that come with pain management. They handle a tough job better than any front office I've experienced, and they make the whole experience much smoother. When you're dealing with chronic pain, the medical system can feel frustrating and impersonal. Southern California Spine & Joint Institute and especially Dr. Kelling and his team are top-notch. You will be well cared for here. I'm back to mountain biking as a result and I couldn't be more happy. Thank you!

I had an unremarkable MRI(lumbar), though I requested both lumbar and thoracic. At the followup visit, I asked if I should have an X-ray to rule out vertebral fractures. He said, " what do you want?" I asked for his advice. He sarcastically asked my husband if he should get an X-ray. He said I was chasing diagnoses since I saw a cardiologist to rule out heart as the source of pain. He was completely inappropriate. I have never had a more inappropriate interaction with a physician. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for back care. I have seen all other doctors in this office without incident.

I had originally been referred to a different ortho specialist and had a horrible experience there. When I asked to get a new doctor doe a second opinion I was sent to Dr. Pacheco. Now when I first went to see him I didn't expect much, I knew my back was bad and there probably wasn't going to be many options for me. But Dr. Pacheco was a kind and understanding person, and luckily enough he had experienced similar people with my type of pain. Ultimately he provided me with the option of a spinal fusion, I won't lie I was nervous, but I could tell Dr. Pacheco was trustworthy and he was willing to give me another shot with a repaired back. It might not be brand new but he fixed me up. Dealing with chronic back pain as bad as mine really had me in a dark place mentally but Dr. Pacheco was able to give me hope again.
