Times have changed and my mother is long gone and now I find myself moving in to University Place in Abilene, TX. Let me tell you that the entire experience of shrinking my lifestyle and living in an Independant Living environment was made much easier my their staff. By the time I left and now prepare for my move I had met several of the residents that will most likely become friends as time goes by. AND I am looking forward to my time there and my new home and family. Yes, family, because that is how I felt while I was there.

This is absolutely the worst nursing home. They required us to pay around the clock sitters because…read moreour person was a fall risk. He fell 3 times in the 11 days he was there. The nurses are lazy and incompetent. Our person had no urinary output and it took the nurse 41/2 hours to come see about him. She had to change his catheter and caused so much bleeding and cross contamination we had to have him sent to the hospital. The administrative staff are awful. They care nothing about the patients. Only covering up their mistakes by falsifying records. The last time he fell they just threw him in a wheelchair and took him to the nurses station so they could watch him. Didn't even bother to check him over to see if he was hurt. I don't know how this dump got5 stars but it should be rated minus 5. It is awful. Think twice before you place a loved one here!

It's a place everyone is greeted with a smile, and the staff all knows your name. Everyone is treated with respect, dignity, and the best care. It's a clean facility with many wonderful activities, and the best food and dining experience of any senior-living facility I've ever visited. We are blessed to have such a nice facility for our loved ones here in Abilene.

Mom's sister went by to visit and found my Mom dehydrated laying in bed in her on waste because she was so weak she couldn't get outta bed to go to the restroom on her own. There were two untouched trays of food on the kitchen counter in her room and the room reeked from her own waste. One tray was the breakfast tray and the other was the lunch tray, neither tray had been touched. The smell was so bad you could smell it the moment you rounded the corner of the hallway on the way to her room, it was impossible for anyone not to notice. The person that delivered the two trays of food should have done something or alerted someone of my mom's condition. I give this place 1 star due to the facilities but a zero on the care and responsibility of the staff and management. I highly recommend taking your loved one somewhere else.

So disappointed in the management of Wesley Court Senior Living and the lack of integrity exhibited…read moreby their Executive Director. Also for the fact that they seemingly deleted my post on their page. It's unfortunate that a resident had to terminate the occupancy because they medically could no longer take care of themselves and because this institution did not initiate the termination, has to pay for three months of rent and meals. Just know that if you/resident terminate occupancy, you owe 90 days. Even in the event that a medical doctor determines that the resident can no longer take care of themselves. That means -you have to wait on one or two people to notice out of their however many residents your loved one can no longer take care of themselves. However, if this one person, although licensed, does notice - then you only owe 30 days of rent and meals. It's beyond me how the executive director (has some sort of license, but not a medical degree) and director of resident services (lovely person, former teacher) maintain the SOLE right to initiate a termination rather than a MEDICAL DOCTOR's opinion. The executive director, Mark Hansen, is completely unprofessional and sits hiding behind a contract. It's funny how I was accused of yelling when he was yelling as well *AND* cut me off before I could finish what I was saying. When I insisted on being heard, he said "I am answering your question" in a very heated and rude tone. How can you answer what I haven't finished? I also find it amusing that you, Mr. Hansen, were so quick to point out that I was not this person's POA. Guess that you didn't care about this person's legally filed POA when you got them to sign a contract. It just seems very convenient that you will have a person sign a contract that shouldn't be signing one and then when people call into question your inability to have any flexibility, you default to a very defensive "I'm not having this conversation with you. You're not this person's POA." Clearly, Wesley Court just wants their money rather than doing what's best for the resident when it is time for them to move on. This person's HEALTH ASSESSMENT TEAM (which is comprised of a MEDICAL doctor) did determine they couldn't live on their own. Sorry it wasn't YOU specifically that noticed the not eating and incredible loss of weight in a short amount of time. We had to do what was best for our family member. Was looking for a compromise, not to be berated and belittled.

My grandmother is allowed to sit at a table in a dirty diaper all day. Her feet are swollen from…read morenot having them elevated and being stuck in one position most of the day. When I asked them to help me get her to go to the bathroom and make her change her depends, they said they cannot force her even if her diaper is full of urine and feces. They said they cannot force anyone to do anything. So they are allowed to leave her in filth. She lost her hearing aid or it was somehow lost this past week there. They won't be held responsible for that. Even though she does not leave that area. It's not their problem. So she has no money for a new one, but they don't care. Tonight I cleaned up her pee off the bathroom floor and asked if the nurses aid would bring cleaner to properly clean it for my grandmother and her roommate. She said she'd clean it herself and I didn't need to do it. She never did, so after about an hour I asked her for the cleaner to clean it myself. She made the time to bring the cleaner and I had to clean up her bathroom on my hands and knees myself.
