Had I made the reservation more than just on the train ride from the airport to Harlow, the owner would have picked my brother and I up. However, I took a cab for £10 (including tip) from the train station to That Amazing Place. It was already dark when we arrived, and it was a little difficult to find. However, once we got there it was beautiful! After housing several foster boys, the couple that owns the house decided to renovate and make an inn. They have several rooms for TV, lounging, eating, etc. for common areas. Our own room was very nice. White sheets, two TWIN beds- which was great for my brother and I traveling together. In the morning we ate a breakfast, free of charge, complete with yogurt, cereals, oatmeals, and freshly cooked/made to order eggs, bacon and toast. It was delicious. The dining room was beautiful! We were so pampered during our few hours there! Had we been able to stay longer I definitely would have! They also have a hot tub available outside. We did not use it- the weather was very foggy and uncomfortable outside. In the morning, the owner drove us back to the train station free of charge. He sent us off with some advice for city travel, and a hug with well wishes. Again- by far the BEST place I have ever stayed on so many levels!

The SERVICE has been TERRIBLE, they rarely answer calls or reply to messages once they've TAKEN ALL YOUR PAYMENT and the professionalism disappears. We spent 7-8 months planning this wedding, but instead of being an enjoyable time, it turned into constant stress and aggravation because of the owner. It took a massive toll on me, my wife, and our families -- it was supposed to be the happiest time of our lives, but it ended up being one of the WORST. On the wedding day, they decided to use their own centrepieces because no one had responded to confirm the ones we'd chosen and agreed on. They didn't include the walkway we had agreed on as they noticed it wasn't evenly flat, and instead of fixing it, they just removed it altogether. Then the stage décor wasn't even close to the reference photo they'd sent us. My wife walked in to find that nothing looked as we'd planned -- and as anyone knows, the décor is a huge part of the wedding day. The whole planning process drained us both. They even CANCELLED two of the VENDORS we'd booked through them -- without our consent -- just two weeks before the wedding, saying they didn't want the responsibility if those vendors messed up. Parking arrangemen were poor and all our guests received a fine!!! They agreed on having 2 photographers and 2 videographers but later found out it's only 2 photographers and 1 videographer and therefore got our own. There's so much more I could say, but to anyone considering booking their wedding here, I'd strongly advise against it. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere. We're not the only ones -- we've spoken to other couples who had similar issues with this venue. We'll see you in court.

The whole planning of the event (pre-venue) had been such a mess that I expected this to be another source of stress, but it was great. The venue was clean and elegant looking (especially considering the location) and I was very impressed overall. The food was tasty and actually as spec :) We originally were planning to hold the party at Passage to India but due to extra guests they moved us into the suite... Cheers guys!

Everything went smoothly, from the time I made the booking over the phone to the day itself, it all was done professionally. The top end package (£185 for 10 children) included a ball, group photo and trophy for the birthday boy, and each guest received a party bag, medal and certificate. There was also an hour of football with a coach and half an hour of free play. Plenty of food was provided for everyone (a platter of hot dogs, burgers and pizza) as well as blackcurrant and orange juice. A cake with candles was also included. There is an indoor clubhouse/bar area where the adults could wait, with big windows overlooking the football pitch. Everyone enjoyed the party, and as Goals dealt with everything and minimal effort was required on my part, I'd definitely recommend them.

The chairs, tables, stage and equipment could do with a bit of updating, I look in the local newspaper quite regularly to see what is going on there, if it had more things to do or go and see there I would definately go. It is next to the Impulse leisure centre in the north side of Grays. I had to phone up the local council to get tickets for the show, the help on the phone was very good and tickets arrived at my house quickly.

My fiance's family booked…read morea late lunch here to celebrate our engagement so naturally I tried to yelp it but was met with a blank info page :[ Regardless, they had been before and raved about how wonderful the food, service and ambiance of this modernized 17th century country house was so I put on the ever-trusted LBD and went. It truly is out in the Essex countryside so there is only one road to get you there but if you do get stuck behind a Sunday driver (or 3, like we did) try to just relax and take in the gorgeous, timeless surroundings. Once we did arrive, the gravel driveway lead us passed the front of the hall to ample, free parking (which is a rare jewel in England!). We passed the hotel on the way to the main hall which looked to only have about 6 suites and I later learned these are usually booked as bridal, groom and family suites to accommodate weddings. Unfortunately this review will only involve the hall. We met our party in the lobby and were taken to the Garden Room passed the longest, most gorgeous chandelier I've ever seen. The Garden Room was absolutely beautiful as well. My favorite part about it was how the lovely floral fabric of the wall tapestries matched the fabric of the chairs which was actually brought to life in the live, deliciously smelling centerpieces, all showcased against the stark white furniture and wall accents. It was a party for the eyes and was only improved by the view of the gardens outside as well. This Sunday was a set menu but you could choose how many courses you wanted, say if you did not want an appetizer or dessert then you simply don't have to and you're not charged for that course. In our party of 6, only 2 got the pork belly starter and the rest of us simply enjoyed our drinks as they did. Yes, the menu continued like that filled with these bite-size, designer flavor explosions and the staff was very helpful answering my never ending curiosities about each dish. Definitely bring your adventurous palet so you can live large and explore. We all agreed it felt like we were at one of the posh dinner parties on Master Chef. I begged everyone in my party to order something different so we (aka I) could try them all but a few are picky eaters and most ended up ordering the token Sunday roast or the pork loin but I myself had the seared ahi over scalloped potatoes. The fish was delicious and was a perfect portion, my only gripe had to do with this very salty, VERY fishy mousse slathered all over it- I started to wipe it off after a few bites. The fish was fresh & delicious though and everyone really enjoyed their Sunday dinners... I was just loving being in such a beautiful room on a rare sunny Sunday with people I love. A friend told me people have their weddings here which is completely understandable~ I know I would! However, I can imagine it easily costing £50k if not more. The website has tons of helpful information (and swoon-worthy pictures) if you're interested in it but above all things, JUST GO! A large rum and cola can come as; 2x25ml, 1x35ml, 2x35ml, the cola can be charged as one dash or two, ice ran out at 1900 on a wednesday (and apparently not enough staff to buy a topup from the superstore down the road) Steak on one night superbly cooked and tasty, but presented poorly with tolerable sides. On the other night the steak was poorly cooked but presented very well with tasty sides. Room was a twin when I expected a double, towels scratchy and overdue for replacement, shower hot and powerful enough but leaked water badly out the head. The friendly staff who were willing to try hard to please, even though somewhat undertrained, managed to wrestled this back to a three star rating. Your experience(s) may vary!

Massive events space…read more Was here for a work conference. Rooms are big and bathrooms are clean, thats about what I expect from an events space. Excel is accesible directly from 2 train stations. However, if you get off on the wrong station, its a 15 min walk to the other side of excel complex. I got lucky on first try and it was about a 3 min walk from train to inside. Outside of the conf. space i was in, there is a huge indoor area that does seem to have shops and restaurants. It had a lot of other events going on at the same time, so seems to be a busy area. Note it takes at least 10 minutes to walk the length of the indoor space, so its huge! It's a bit out of the way from center of town, but if you are already here for an event, plenty of restaurant options inside and outside at walking distance.
