My wonderful neighbors are such a delight & I learned that the Mr. enjoyed cigars, especially since the Mrs. is originally from Cuba. The irony, as Cortez Cigars was the vendor used for last year's company Holiday Gala, so it was cool to pop in as a passer-by. Shawn was the Cigar Curator where he gestured us in to this dimmed, pretty clear air (not a heavy smoke presence), dark wood/leather furniture & just the right amount of rustic artwork lounge. There's 3 display cases to choose your stogie of your choice, & all of the necessities to enjoy fully. If you choose to delight in house, you can sit amongst a small square table or in the recliners against the brick wall. The small layout provides a relaxing & quant indoor venue for the cigar enthusiasts. My OCD caught hand sanitizer, mints & some other grooming aids for the before & after of partaking in the chohibas....a classy VIP touch. I saw empty bottles of expensive libations, so my summation would be you can BYO, as I didn't see any products on display or for sale...if I missed it, my bad. & what great timing as soon as I walked into my building, my neighbor was walking out & I unexpectedly bestowed the foil bag & lighting accessories upon him. For the cigar lovers in the SS vicinity, this is the place to be to enjoy a tightly-rolled bundle of various types & sizes of dried and fermented tobacco leaf. read more

Easily competes with brand name cigars costing twice as much. Wide selection and knowledgeable staff will help you pick the perfect stick. Great Cigars and a great place to hang out. I am a cigar smoker and while I never heard of Cortez Cigars, they smoke as good as the big name brands that I smoke like Padron or Arturo Fuente or some other name brands. These are real, hand-made, whole leaf quality cigars. Huge variety of blends and binders and sizes. Prices are high, but about what you'd find for name brands at other Cigar Lounges in Rockville and Baltimore. They've got a TV playing popular sport games, and big, soft, comfortable leather chairs. Man, how I wish this place was better. Way better. I'm a cigar smoker. I smoke at least one a week. I live in downtown silver spring. How nice would it be to have a clean, well mannered, well stocked, approachable cigar lounge in my hood??!? Not cortez. First of all, the place is filthy. Clutter and trash everywhere, more old boxes and empty water bottles than fresh cigars....for a place that's so relatively new it should look ALLOT better. They're selection sucks. Ok, I respect the concept of only selling your own cigars, but you are missing out on money when I can't get the Arturo fuente I've wanted all week. I would love to see some variety, of some sort. The staff is aging, un welcoming, not for a second helpful, and really, really scrubby looking. Maybe you guys would sell more and attract folks if you had a decent looking knowledgeable person in there. Who was actually helpful. Disappointed to say the least. If I had a quality cigar shop nearby they would make loads of money from me. Guess I have to keep driving to Bethesda. read more

Upon entry, the aromatic smell of the tobacco leaf was intoxicating. The immediate arrival of the shopkeeper, and eagerness to curate the fine selection of imported cigars left me wooed to purchase a modicum of the goods in both Robusto and Corona size. Delightful they were. Exquisite!!! read more

I love me some Cortez Cigars! The atmosphere is amazing with dark wood, exposed brick, and leather couches -- just the perfect space to enjoy your favorite cigar. If you want, you can also catch the game on their big screen TV or take advantage of free WiFi. But the best part is that we were greeted with the best service. Russ, the cigar attendant, was nothing short of amazing. He was super knowledgeable and friendly with recommendations and advice. Cortez Cigars is a must-stop. They have a big selection of cigars, im new to cigars so I'm always a hunnid percent sure what I want. The owner is pretty helpful, when I'm trying to decide. I usually go get a beef patty and ginger beer from Negril and come in and smoke when I stop in. It's a nice little spot to sit down and smoke. It's right off Ga Ave so you can grab one and hit the strip. read more

Picked a few up at the National Harbor Oktoberfest yesterday, and I have to say they're probably some of the best cigars I've ever had.

Wow wow wow. I haven't seen another shop in the area that has their own cigars. Very nice atmosphere. Nice people. Once you open the humidor, the snell of fresh tobacco is like no other in the area. I got the coffee break and it tastes amazing. I bought a few others but haven't smoked them yet but if they are similar, they will be amazing. Highly recommend this place. read more

My wife and I had Cortez Cigars come to North Carolina and roll cigars for our wedding. They were a huge hit and all of our guests enjoyed their cigars. They rolled cigars for 3 hours and educated the guests on the entire tobacco process. The men all agreed it was the best thing they had ever seen at a wedding. Their prices were very reasonable and they even offered a military discount. Their interaction with our guests was great and many of the cigar aficionados at the wedding raved about the cigars they made. We hired them for a wedding. The cigar roller moved in and out so fast I didn't even get the chance to say hello or give him a check. I was stunned to see on Monday (the next business day) before I could even call them, a charge had been placed on the credit card I had used for the deposit. That would have been ok I guess but they added a FORTY DOLLAR FEE!!!!! It was very cool to have a cigar roller at the wedding but he was there and gone so fast many people missed him all together! Find another company for your event or be very careful! read more
