Good brewery. Quaint in town location. Stopped for a flight on our way through and liked it. The beers were good but nothing jumped out as a truly outstanding beer. It's in what appears to be an old fire station, but the HQ of Cortland Fire is across the street, so not sure if it was actually an old fire house or not. I did like the variety of beers and styles they had and our sever was friendly and knowledgeable, which I always find as a plus. I would say that it's worth a stop if you're in Cortland and enjoy microbrewed beers. read more

We ended here during our street fair adventure during our visit to town for my 40th college reunion. The place is rustic with a tasting room adjacent to the brewery. Not sure how long it has been here but the set up seems as if it can only be a few years. This was not here when I attended school. Anyway the taps were running a lager, pale ale and some fruited beers. The lager was very good - clean, fresh and uplifting. We did not try the ipa. We saw these beers in various establishments during our three days in town. It was worth the stop. A thunderstorm broke out while we were visiting so we had another. The beer Misters/Ms's were very nice and we could have stayed much longer but had to move on. Overall a very nice addition to my old college town. It is always great to have a locally brewed beer instead of having to pay higher prices for imports - by that I mean from Ithaca, Canada and Boston. Very cool local brewery off Main Street. Great vibe inside with sublime-ish music playing today and many beer choices. Felt cool and relaxed and I didn't expect this quaint/chill feeling from the outside. I wanted to hangout here all day. You can do a flight for 6.50, which comes with 5 samples or they have a rotating tap with $3 draughts each Saturday. I had to get the pumpkin ale, and it was awesome! Creamy, smooth pumpkin flavor with just the right amount of spices but not too spicy. I loved it! Very easy drinking...it felt like I was having dessert. Can't wait to come back next time we're in town visiting. read more

For such a small place it really shines. They had about 12 or 13 beers on tap which makes ordering two flights well worth the surprisingly low cost. Sitting outside in the sun just makes a Saturday afternoon that much better. Food? I think they have chips and hotdogs, but that's not really important. The staff are nice and are more than willing to describe the beers and help you make a choice. I will be back. read more

I really enjoyed the evening I spent at the Cortland Beer company. They were quick to give my brothers and I samples of any beers we wanted to try. Many were delicious. But I also asked if I could have a sample of their vodka lemonade which they had on tap. On tap!!!. The bar tender obliged and it was so delicious I had a glass of that. My brothers enjoyed the the bourbon barrel stout and their pilsner. The best part of the experience was the atmosphere. They had numerous tables set up outside all around the brewery and live music ! The band played fantastic funk and soul Classics. Several of the tables had propane fire pits in the middle of them. It was delightful to sit there and chat around the fire and listen to music. We were looking for a dog friendly place to go on a Friday night and absolutely loved it here. The staff was so friendly. They kept asking us if our pup was good on water, and treated us like family. The live music was an added bonus. Definitely recommend and will be coming back! read more

Some friends and I visited Cortland for Greek Peak. After, we were pretty starved so went downtown to get a bite to eat. Instead, we saw this brewery and immediately decided beer trumps fiber. This place was a memorable stumble! Beer tastings are dirt cheap ($1) and the service is great. The employees (also owners) were having a good time with us--really friendly and approachable. There was a chemist on hand who talked about the process of brewing. These people are really into their specialty. The place is pretty small with few seats. Also, the brewery closes very early (7pm on a Friday) but it's worth the visit and purchase. I recommend the espresso beer and the Jack Daniels enthused beer. Buy a growler (mine was 5.99 but price varies by beer) so you can return and fill it up! read more

Attended a private function on a Saturday afternoon at CBC. Had never been, but had sampled their Red Dragon and Fire House Ales enough to know that I wanted to see the story behind the beer. As others have commented, CBC has a very rustic feel to it- brick walls and a chalkboard with the dozen or so varieties on tap. They also offer their own vodka and I believe other spirits as well. Went with a flight to get a sample of some of their finest- 5 five oz. choices for $6. All were decent- some better than others. All three servers behind the bar were very informative and told us a little of the history behind each of the beers on tap. We talked about which beers were their better sellers as well as the ones that were coming up next in production. Tables are set up outside for people watching and a live band performed that evening on an outdoor stage. A good vibe- a good time with friends....look forward to returning soon. read more

Not only have I worked for this brewery, but I also still enjoy going to this brewery. Absolutely love their beer, vodka and gin. Not entirely sure if their whiskey has come out yet but if it has, it's worth a try because I'm sure it's really good! If you're looking for a place to just hang out and have a beer this is a perfect place. Not many people notice it but theres a ring toss game attached to the wall, its fun and its a good group game! I love the atmosphere here. Friday's they have bands. Even more enjoyable in the summer time when the band's play outside. Their Bloody Mary's are one of my favorites around! The current bartenders here are knowledgeable and are super friendly! They have beer flights which make it easier/cheaper to try all sorts of beer! If you haven't been to this brewery/distillery I suggest that you give it a try read more

I've been to Cortland Beer company a few times now with varying degrees of satisfaction. They are the one and only brewery in town, and a lot of restaurants and bars have them on tap. So I applaud them for cornering the market! One of their main beers is the red dragon ale (the mascot of the local SUNY school) and it's quite refreshing. Located just off of main street, it's in an old firehouse, so the outside is pretty impressive for where it's at. CBC has a lot of beers on tap at any time, and they seem to specialize in the darker beers of stouts and porters. I was pretty excited to try them as these are my favorite! However after tasting them, none seemed to blow away my palate. Not saying they were bad, just not to my liking. The last tasting though was just $1, and I got to sample 12, count 'em 12 beers! Pretty impressive! It was a friday night, and the college kids had finally caught on to the great chance of pre-gaming the night's festivities for cheap. So it took a bit of time to get thru the 12 with a packed house and only one employee. I can't really blame them though! I imagine summer time here is pretty quiet. The beer is very good, the live music is also good; however, the service is not so great. Even with the surly, inattentive service, the concerts on the patio are still worth checking out while you drink a nice cold local brew. Nice clean facility and good beer. The pumpkin was a little overwhelming with spice but the lager and red dragon beer were excellent. This would have been a five star rating except for the sullen girl who was minding the store. We have been regular customers since the opening and recently quality has gone downhill! We were there a few weekends a go and all the beer on the flight tasted nasty! We asked how often lines are cleaned and bartender didn't know! Another couple complained and asked the same question and got same 'non answer'! Used to be great, now not so much! Local micro Brewery that gets it right! excellent brews, lots of variety, a beer to match anyone's tastes. They work with local eateries to have food delivered while you enjoy your favorite brew. They also have guest taps from other local microbreweries, and nice wines from NY's finger lakes region. I like how they work with the other businesses with having live music when others do not, and then recommend where to go when they close for the evening. Doing a lot for Cortland downtown to promote what the town has to offer. As a local business owner I commend them for their efforts. Great Beer, great staff makes for a great night out on the town. My friend and I had our first experience today with CBC's Flights. It was hands down one of the best experiences I've had in a bar. The bar is spotlessly clean, definitely the cleanest bar I've ever been in. However, our experience wouldn't have been half as great if we didn't have an amazing bartender. Our bartender was Jenna and she definitely seemed to know what she was doing. We felt welcomed right away because of her bright smile and bubbly personality. She explained every beer on tap very well and even suggested beers that she thought we might like after we told her what we usually like to drink. I enjoyed every beer that I chose very much, and so did my friend. Out favorites were the Blackberry Lager and the Bourbon Barrel Aged Flight Level 410. We will definitely be returning to try more beers and to see Jenna again. Next time we'll be sure to bring more people as well!! read more
